五、阅读理解(全新文本)
Start your new term with nice greetings
When a new term begins, you will meet many new schoolmates. Greeting is a simple but useful skill for students. A proper greeting does not need long sentences. Sometimes only a short sentence works well.
A warm smile goes together with your greetings. When you say “Good morning” or “Nice to meet you”, smile at the other person. It will make your words much friendlier.
You can also introduce yourself after greeting. You may tell others your name and your hobby. For example: “I’m Amy. I like painting in my free time.” Small talks about hobbies make it easy for you to get close to new classmates.
But there is one small tip: do not ask others’ private information such as their age or home address too early. It will make others feel uncomfortable. Just talk about school life, hobbies or school clubs.
Being polite does not mean you have to talk with everyone all the time. Even short greetings can build good relations. Try to greet your classmates from today on.
