Rejection creates an emotional roller coaster (过山车). We feel the sadness, anger, and loss of the person who rejects us. 1 This is why getting over a rejection is challenging. While there is no quick fix, the following suggestions can help us overcome the confusion and ease the pain of rejection.
Use the power of breath. 2 And each one affects the others. Deep breaths help us absorb the feelings and restore a sense of calm. Mindful breathing is one of the most powerful and accessible resources for self-regulation, relaxation, and overall well-being. We can also use breath to move our attention from disturbing thoughts back to ourselves.
Note it down in a journal. Journaling provides a safe place without fear of misunderstanding. In moments of sadness and loss, the weight of emotions can be very great. 3 It allows us to explore our thoughts, feelings, and memories, process our experiences and find relief in pain.
Learn to give to others. The acts of serving and giving to others are powerful and helpful. When we support others, especially during difficult times, something within also starts to heal (愈合) and grow. 4 When we connect with people who are less fortunate, we start to realize that our pain is less significant. Giving to others also empowers us. It gives us a sense of self-worth and moves us away from the hurt.
Getting over a rejection is hard. However, your pain won’t last forever. It is there to make you grow. Everyone heals from rejection at their own pace in their own way. We are all suffering in one way or another at one time or another. We must have pity for ourselves and accept that reality. It’s important to take your time to deal with rejection and to use the practices suggested to heal and move on to the new opportunities life presents us. 5
A.Our self-respect is hurt as well.
B.It is necessary to offer and accept.
C.It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
D.Accepting others’ offer makes us feel hopeful.
E.It is connected to the body, emotions and thoughts.
F.Writing serves as a powerful tool to unburden our inner selves.
G.Helping others provides us with a sense of purpose and deep satisfaction.

Today, we have an always-in-your-pocket, 24/7 news cycle. When you open a news app, you’ll notice a brief moment when the “old news” is still there. In a flash, the ancient history of a few hours ago is swept away for the next “breaking news”. 6 It’s endless, but you had better keep up.
Researchers refer to this world with the phrase “noise bottleneck” (信息噪音瓶颈). A noise bottleneck is a situation where we are overwhelmed with so much information, or noise, that our cognitive abilities can’t keep up. 7 Thus, while our attention can handle hours of videos, our long-term learning processes cannot.
8 We watch TV while holding our phones, and we listen to music when shopping. However, the human brain may have structural limits rooted in its cognitive architecture, which cause a slowdown when two tasks are done at the same time.
In short, your brain is not as good as you think it is. You are a human being who can only take in so much in a day. Understanding the noise bottleneck allows us to fix it. So, here are three tips to get you started:
Clear your content — create a new social media account and follow only the accounts or people you find really valuable.
Single-task — you don’t need to get rid of your phone, but do get rid of distractions. 9 For example, say, “I will only read this magazine after dinner.” Multitasking is for show; single-tasking is for those who are serious about getting things done.
Accept your limits — you’ll never read all the news. Accept that you can only choose two or three stories and embrace that fact. 10 You’re getting more out of those few than that “super-productive” person on social media who claims to read five books a week. After all, it’s better to remember a little than to forget a lot.
A.Give yourself a time limit or restriction if it helps.
B.Every second, new information is presented to you.
C.Don’t be hard on yourself for not being productive.
D.Breaking through the noise bottleneck is a legendary idea.
E.The matter is made worse by our modern addiction to multitasking.
F.Multitasking has greatly changed the way we use information.
G.Our brains have limited resources, spread across many functions.

Of the many unpleasant emotions we can experience, fear may top the list. 11 . Fear can also keep us from hunting for the things in life—like following our dreams, and developing important relationships. 12 .
Experience fear.I used to be very afraid of speaking in public. I would get sweaty palms and my stomach would be so full that I wouldn’t be able to eat. However, each time I spoke, I noticed afterwards that it wasn’t that bad. Things I fear are never as bad in reality as I have in my mind. 13 .
Create space. The first and most important step to being fearless is to create some space between ourselves and the emotion of fear. This isn’t accomplished by ignoring the fear. 14 . In fact, a recent research shows that by simply admitting the emotion we actually begin to reverse (颠倒) the “fight or escape” response in the body.
Control the breath and feel the fear.Once we admit the presence of fear, the second step is to control the breath, making it just a little bit longer. We feel how fear shows in the body. 15 .
With practice, we can create enough space between us and the emotion of fear so that we can replace a fearful thought with a positive one.
A.Fear no longer holds us back.
B.Fear can even destroy our life.
C.Fear is more than just physically unpleasant.
D.I have some ideas of how to be free from fear.
E.Space is created only when we admit fear exists.
F.So one way to get rid of fear is to push ourselves to do things that we fear.
G.As we know the physical symptoms of fear, we can see fear objectively (客观地).

How to Make Allowance (零花钱) Teach Money Smarts
Most parents agree kids should learn about money before they’re let loose on the world, but “money smarts” isn’t exactly a standard bedtime story. And allowance isn’t just a weekly payout. 16 Handled well, it teaches budgeting (预算), saving and decision-making.
Setting the ground rules.
Will you give cash weekly or monthly? Should allowance be tied to housework? Experts are a little divided here. 17 Others believe tying money to tasks can make children view family contributions as optional. Whatever you decide, making it clear is your best friend — when, how much, what conditions, and what happens if they “forget” to do their part.
How much is enough?
18 The right amount depends on your family’s budget, your child’s age, and what you expect them to cover. A common guideline is £1 per year of age each week. But if your child is expected to pay for school lunches, or birthday gifts, change accordingly.
19
Normalise money talk. No need for a TED Talk — simply ask, “Got any plans for your cash?” Or, “Anything you’re saving up for?” Share stories about your own money mistakes — like the time you spent your birthday money on novelty socks and immediately regretted it. 20
Teaching kids about money is a series of small moments, with enough mistakes and laughs. Allowance offers a steady way to practice — through saving, spending, giving, and learning from everyday choice.
A.No exact answer here.
B.Discuss but don’t lecture.
C.Should kids spend money freely?
D.But setting a specific goal makes saving real.
E.Some say kids should earn allowance by doing housework.
F.Kids appreciate honesty, and it keeps the conversation real.
G.It can be a mini training ground for real-life money management.
