Task In this class, you are going to: Make a speech about yourself. Step 1 Look at the thinking map in Starting out and think: has your idea about yourself changed? Consider the following things: looks personality likes and dislikes abilities Step 2 Organise your ideas with the help of the following outline and prepare your speech. You can use the language tips in the outline or find useful expressions or sentences from this unit. Introduction Stating the purpose or main idea of your speech — My understanding of myself has changed... — I'd like to share with you my true self. Body Describing your looks, personality, abilites, likes and dislikes, etc — I have got... — I used to..., but now I can... — I like... about myself. — I've... for the first time. Explaining reasons for possible changes — One reason for...is... — I've learnt to accept... Conclusion Ending your description with comments about yourself — I have learnt that I am what I am. — I have discovered... — Understanding myself means...
