The students who participated in it met at the school gate at 7 o’clock on April 30th and then went to the Great Wall. On arriving there, they picked up the litter along the Great Wall. Moreover, a speech given by a student made tourists know more about preserving cultural relics. This activity turned out to be a great success. It not only aroused more students’ interest in protecting the Great Wall, but also made more people realise the importance of protecting our heritage sites. 第二节 (满分25分) Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. My horse got so scared that it started to run very fast. I held the rope tightly and shouted, but I couldn’t stop it. My dad’s horse also began to run because it followed mine. We ran through the trees and bushes for a long time until the horses were tired and slowed down. That was when we realized we were not on the track anymore. I felt nervous because I didn’t know how to get back, especially when I saw that the sun was going down. We had no idea where we were and it was getting dark. My dad stayed calm, which made me feel a little better. He looked at the mountains and the river, and he remembered the way we came. He said, “I think we should go towards the river because I’m sure our farm is near it.” We walked slowly on our horses, and I hoped we were going the right way. Luckily, after about 30 minutes, we saw the lights of Uncle Paul’s house. When we got back, everyone was worried. Aunt Tina said it was good that we were safe, and I knew I would never forget this adventure. ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2026-2027学年高一必修第二册英语单元自测 Unit1 Cultural Heritage·基础通关 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What are the speakers saving for? B If it had not been for Fan Jinshi and her team, the world cultural heritage of Dunhuang Mogao Caves in a remote Chinese desert might have long been destroyed by sand, weather or humans. Born in Beijing and raised in Shanghai, Fan has spent half a century fighting an uphill battle to preserve the ancient Buddhist wall paintings at Dunhuang, in Northwest China’s Gansu Province. The 1,653-year-old Dunhuang Mogao Caves are a huge collection of Buddhist art—more than 2,000 buddha figures and 45,000 square metres of paintings spread among 735 caves. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Archaeologist Fan was sent to Dunhuang after graduating from Peking University in 1963. While in Dunhuang, a remote village in the desert then, Fan lived in an abandoned temple. At first, she did not even dare to go out to the toilet at night. To protect the treasures from sand and dampness, Fan and other workers put doors on the caves, planted trees and started monitoring temperature and humidity in the caves. They also controlled the number of visitors. In the late 1990s, with tourism booming nationwide since national holidays were extended, the local government planned to go public with Dunhuang Mogao Caves, but found Fan firmly in_their_way.  “The heritage would have been destroyed if it had been listed,” she said. Dunhuang Academy has now photographed and cataloged online all the sculptures and paintings. “Despite our efforts to minimise damage, we can’t completely stop them from being eroded. But the digital database will last.” Fan was grateful when her husband joined her in Dunhuang in 1986 after 19 years of separation. Her two sons grew up seldom with her accompany. “I have not been a good mother or wife. With regard to my family, I’m full of guilt,” she said. Fan, 81, retired four years ago as the director of Dunhuang Academy but continues her efforts as a national political adviser. 24.When was Fan separated from her husband? A.In 1963. B.In 1967. C.In 1986. D.In the late 1990s. 25.What does the phrase “in their way” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.Go to a place. B.Be in favour of something. C.Reject something. D.Give in to something. 26.What is the passage mainly about? A.The history of Dunhuang Mogao Caves. B.The attractions of Dunhuang Mogao Caves. C.Fan’s devotion to preserving Dunhuang Mogao Caves. D.The appeal for the protection of Dunhuang Mogao Caves. 27.What kind of person do you think Fan is? A.Considerate. B.Kind. C.Humorous. D.Devoted. C The black cloud rising every day at sunset in the Chihuahuan Desert went largely ignored for thousands of years. Native Americans noticed it, but did not track its source. Cowboys thought the cloud was smoke pouring from the earth, and avoided it. In June of 1901, however, a teenage cowboy named Jim White happened to see the large, black cloud. He was curious and went to investigate. Instead of finding a volcano, as he had imagined, he discovered something equally amazing. It was a big mass of bats. Two days later, he returned with a lantern to explore further. It took him so long that his lantern went out. He managed to refill it with just enough oil to find his way back to the entrance. The next time Jim White went to the cave, he brought a friend and supplies. They explored for three days and returned with descriptions that were so fantastic that few people believed them. The cowboys on nearby farms and the people in the tiny town of Carlsbad treated Jim’s stories as tall tales and nothing more. After years of exploring the caves and finding no one to believe his stories, Jim White decided to create his own tourist attraction. He established trails (路线) along the paths he had found. One day in 1915, two men asked Jim for a tour. After seeing the caves, the men returned with a professional photographer named Ray V. Davis. Local doubts were finally put to rest by the photographs of the hidden beauty that Jim had discovered. All 13 locals of Carlsbad finally took a tour of the caves, which came to be known as Carlsbad Caverns. In 1923, the government sent an official named Robert Holly to tour the caves. Later that year, the caves were stated a national monument (古迹), and in 1930 they became a national park. Jim White lived to see the Carlsbad Caverns become world-famous. Today, tourists can hike to and tour some of the 100 known caves in this huge natural wonder, thanks to the cowboy from New Mexico. 28.What do we know about the black cloud? A.It was discovered in 1901. B.It was noticed by accident. C.It was actually a mass of bats. D.It was smoke from the earth. 29.Who joined Jim’s third exploration? A.Jim’s friend. B.A photographer. C.Robert Holly. D.13 locals of Carlsbad. 30.What can we conclude about the public’s recognition of Carlsbad Caverns? A.It made Jim White rich. B.It was an easy process. C.It happened before 1915. D.It came true thanks to the photos. 31.What is the best title for the text? A.A Brave Cowboy B.A Hidden Wonder C.A Worthwhile Invention D.A Nationwide Contribution D A group of scientists are hurrying to document and protect the ancient ruins along Puerto Rico's coasts. They are working as fast as they can before rising sea levels destroy a large part of the island's history. The work started in August 2017. With the help of 3D imaging and other advanced technologies, the scientists have explored a large piece of land along Puerto Rico's north coast and identified an ancient ceremonial center used by the Taino Indians. About 2,000 years ago, the Tainoes lived on many islands in the Caribbean Sea. But after the arrival of Christopher Columbus and other Europeans, they were all killed. Scientists also found a large living place just east of the site. which is seriously endangered by rising sea levels and other natural disasters. Puerto Rico's Department of Natural Resources has said the sea level around the island is rising by more than 3 mm every year. However, climate change has more immediate effects. These include the destruction of the Puerto Rico coastline and natural habitats by storms. Warmer temperatures in the Caribbean increase the number and strength of storms and Puerto Rico faces the possibility of storms every year for six months during the Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Maria had already washed away part of its history. Scientists are now trying to find out how badly the hurricanes and loss of land have affected the heritage site they are studying. Eric Lo is an engineer who flew to Puerto Rico in August 2017 to start the project one month before Maria struck the island. Lo was surprised at what he saw when he returned months later. “Pieces of land where I stood do not exist anymore. They are underwater,” he said. 32.Where did the scientists find the ancient Taino Indians' living place? A.Under the Caribbean Sea. B.In a European country. C.On Puerto Rico's north coast. D.Along Puerto Rico's east coast. 33.Why have the Tainos disappeared from the islands in the Caribbean Sea? A.They were killed by the Europeans. B.They were destroyed by Hurricane Maria. C.They were driven away by the rising sea levels. D.They were moved away by their government. 34.What is paragraph 5 mainly about? A.The serious damage caused by storms. Scientists have already tried to create an artificial language that isn’t too difficult and doesn’t include any one group’s culture. It is called Esperanto. 40 Maybe the popularity of English won’t last that long either.Who knows? There are more people in the world who speak Chinese than any other language.Maybe someday Chinese will be the new international language. A.People like English. B.But it hasn’t become popular. A.In 1963. B.In 1967. B.The plan to protect the heritage sites. C.The loss of natural habitats in Puerto Rico. D.The worsening climate conditions in the world. 35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? Scientists have already tried to create an artificial language that isn’t too difficult and doesn’t include any one group’s culture. He decided to take me on a trip to the Wild West. We took a plane to Albuquerque, a big city in the state of New Mexico. We reached Albuquerque in the late afternoon. Uncle Paul, my dad’s friend, picked us up from the airport and drove us up to his farm in Pecs. His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and we got to know his sons Ryan and Kyle. My dad and I spent the night in the guest room of the farm house listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby. Very early in the morning, Uncle Paul woke us up to have breakfast. “The day starts at dawn on my farm,” he said. After breakfast, I went to help Aunt Tina feed the chickens, while my dad went with Uncle Paul to take the sheep out to graze (吃草). I was impressed to see my dad and Uncle Paul riding horses. They looked really cool. In the afternoon, I asked Uncle Paul if I could take a horse ride, and he said yes, as long as my dad went with me. I wasn’t going to take a horse ride by myself anyway. So, my dad and I put on our new cowboy hats, got on our horses, and headed slowly towards the mountains. “Don’t be late for supper,” Uncle Paul cried, “and keep to the track so that you don’t get lost!” “OK!” my dad cried back. After a while Uncle Paul and his farm house were out of sight. B.Kind. C.Humorous. D.Devoted. 根据最后一段中的“Fan was grateful when her husband joined her in Dunhuang in 1986 after 19 years of separation.”(1986年,在与丈夫分离19年后,她的丈夫回到了敦煌,来到了她身边。) 由下文““The heritage would have been destroyed if it had been listed,”she said.”(樊锦诗说:“如果这份遗产被列入开放名录,它早就被毁了。”) 故“in their way”表示“拒绝某事、反对某事”,故选C。 26. 根据第一段“If it had not been for Fan Jinshi and her team, the world cultural heritage of Dunhuang Mogao Caves in a remote Chinese desert might have long been destroyed by sand, weather or humans.”(如果不是樊锦诗和她的团队,位于中国偏远沙漠的世界文化遗产敦煌莫高窟可能早就被沙尘、天气或人类破坏了。) 根据第二段中的“Fan has spent half a century fighting an uphill battle to preserve the ancient Buddhist wall paintings at Dunhuang”(为了保护敦煌的古代佛教壁画,樊花了半个世纪的时间进行了艰苦的斗争)和最后一段“Fan, 81, retired four years ago as the director of Dunhuang Academy but continues her efforts as a national political adviser.”(81岁的樊女士四年前从敦煌研究院院长的职位上退休,但仍继续担任国家政治顾问。) D。 C The black cloud rising every day at sunset in the Chihuahuan Desert went largely ignored for thousands of years. A.A Brave Cowboy B.A Hidden Wonder C.A Worthwhile Invention D.A Nationwide Contribution 【答案】28.C 29.A 30.D 31.B 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。 根据第二段的“In June of 1901, however, a teenage cowboy named Jim White happened to see the large, black cloud. (经过多年探索洞穴,发现没有人相信他的故事,吉姆·怀特决定创建自己的旅游景点)”以及最后一段的“Later that year, the caves were stated a national monument (古迹), and in 1930 they became a national park. (那年晚些时候,这些洞穴被列为国家古迹, 1930年,它们成为国家公园)”可知,本文主要讲述了卡尔斯巴德洞穴存在了几千年,一直被人们忽视,后来一个名叫吉姆·怀特的牛仔发现了它,使它闻名于世,故B项“隐藏的奇观”可以作为本文的最佳标题。故选B。 D A group of scientists are hurrying to document and protect the ancient ruins along Puerto Rico's coasts. B.The plan to protect the heritage sites. C.The loss of natural habitats in Puerto Rico. D.The worsening climate conditions in the world. 35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? It was so peaceful and quiet and the colors of the brown rocks, the deep green pine trees, and the late afternoon sun mixed to create a magic scene. It looked like a beautiful woven (编织的) blanket spread out upon the ground just for us. Paragraph 1: Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: We had no idea where we were and it was getting dark. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 受惊狂奔:get scared and started to run very fast/be frightened and rush forward ② 偏离小路:be not on the track anymore/go off the path ③ 慢慢走:walk slowly/move forward carefully/go step by step ④ 返回:get back/return/arrive back at the house 情绪类 ① 感到紧张:feel nervous / be anxious / feel worried ② 感到担心:be worried / feel anxious / be concerned 【点睛】【高分句型1】My horse got so scared that it started to run very fast.(运用了so...that引导的结果状语从句) 【高分句型2】I felt nervous because I didn’t know how to get back, especially when I saw that the sun was going down.(运用了because引导的原因状语从句和when引导的时间状语从句以及that引导的宾语从句) 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司1 / 23 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Dennis, can you turn off the light when you leave home, please?
