The Great Wall
The Terracotta Army
The Pyramids
If you were a tour guide, how would you introduce one of them to visitors?
Greet listeners, introduce the object, talk about interesting stories
What makes a good introduction?
Let’ read an article and find out from a presentation script.
Hello, everyone! I’d like to present to you a historical site from the Mayan civilization. Maybe you’ve heard about the Egyptian pyramids, but the Mayan people also built hundreds of pyramids throughout Central America from about 1,000 BCE to 1,500 CE. Here you can see the most famous example—the Pyramid of Kukulkan.
For the Mayans, Kukulkan was a snake god. Twice a year, when the day and night are in balance, the setting sun creates a strange shadow on one side of the pyramid. This shadow is in the shape of a snake crawling down the steps. Interestingly, the building has a total of 365 steps. The Mayans could have built this to show the number of days in the solar year.
There’s also another interesting fact about the pyramid. Inside there are two more pyramids. The Mayans must have built each pyramid on top of the other over a long period of time. Isn’t that amazing?
So, from the Pyramid of Kukulkan, we can learn a lot about the ancient Mayan civilization. That’s all! Thank you!
3a Read the presentation script for a history exhibition at school. Find out what historical object or site is introduced.

Hello, everyone! Have you ever imagined meeting an army of thousands of soldiers, all made of clay? Today I’m happy to present to you one of China’s greatest wonders — the Terracotta Army in Xi’an. You may have heard of it, but do you know how many soldiers are there and why they were made?

Now, here are some amazing facts. First, the army was built to protect Emperor Qin Shi Huang in his afterlife. The ancient builders must have spent decades making these soldiers. What’s more, archaeologists are still digging and finding more warriors today. Can you imagine how many are still underground?
