In many families, New Year greetings are changing. Years ago, children visited relatives with their parents and said lucky words face to face. Now some families send short videos, voice messages or digital red envelopes. These new forms are fast, but they also raise a question: are greetings still sincere when they are sent through a screen?
A good greeting is not decided only by its form. A voice message can be warm if it is made for a real person. For example, a grandson may mention his grandmother's knee and wish her less pain in the new year. A video can also be sincere if children show the dumplings they made and invite relatives to visit.
However, copying the same sentence to twenty people is different. It may save time, but it does not show much care. Elders usually do not need perfect English or expensive gifts. They want to feel remembered. A short call with real listening may mean more than a bright picture sent without thought.
So modern greetings should keep old respect. We can use phones, but we should add names, details and true wishes. When technology carries a real heart, it becomes a useful bridge. When it carries only a quick click, it becomes a cold habit.
53.What question does Paragraph 1 raise?
A. Why all children dislike visiting relatives.
B. How to make digital phones cheaper.
C. When red envelopes became illegal.
D. Whether greetings through a screen are still sincere.
54.What can make a voice message warm?
A. Mentioning a real person’s situation.
B. Copying one sentence to everyone.
C. Sending it without names.
D. Making it very expensive.
55.What do elders usually want according to the passage?
A. To get perfect English only.
B. To receive the brightest picture.
C. To feel remembered.
D. To stop every phone call.
56.Which is the best title for the passage?
A. Digital Red Envelopes Are Always Best
B. Keep a Real Heart in Modern Greetings
C. How to Buy a New Phone
D. Why Children Should Avoid Relatives
【答案】53.D 54.A 55.C 56.B

D
The story of Nian is often told to explain red clothes, lanterns and fireworks. In the story, a monster came to hurt people at the beginning of the year. Later, people found that it was afraid of the colour red and loud sounds. The story may not be history in the strict sense, but it has helped people remember the meaning of preparation and courage.
Stories like this are important because customs need reasons. If children only see red paper on doors, they may think it is just decoration. When they hear the story, they understand that red also means protection, hope and a new start. A custom becomes easier to remember when it has a story behind it.
The story can also be retold in modern ways. A teacher may use pictures. A museum may make a short video. A family may ask grandparents to tell it before dinner. Different ways can reach different listeners, but the main idea should stay clear: people face fear together and welcome a better year.
Of course, we should not stop at one story. The Spring Festival also includes cleaning, reunion dinners, visits and greetings. Each activity tells people to prepare for the future and care about family. When young people understand both the stories and the actions, they can share the festival with others more confidently.
57.What is Nian afraid of in the story?
A. Quiet rooms and soft lights.
B. Cold water and small gifts.
C. The colour red and loud sounds.
D. Train tickets and phones.
58.Why are stories important for customs?
A. They make all customs disappear.
B. They help people understand reasons behind customs.
C. They stop children from asking questions.
D. They replace family dinners.
59.What is the main idea that should stay clear when retelling the story?
A. People face fear together and welcome a better year.
B. People should avoid every visitor.
C. Children must only watch videos.
D. Red paper is only decoration.
60.What does the last paragraph suggest?
A. One story is enough for the whole festival.
B. Cleaning has nothing to do with the festival.
C. Greetings are less important than videos.
D. Young people should understand stories and actions together.

【参考范文】
The Spring Festival in My Eyes
In my eyes, the Spring Festival is full of warm traditions. My favourite custom is putting up red couplets. Before the festival, my family cleans the house and pastes couplets on both sides of the door. The words on them show wishes for health, luck and a smooth year.
I also like the story of Nian. It explains why people love red during the festival. The story tells us that people can face difficulties together with courage.
If I introduce this custom to foreign friends, I will use simple words and real examples. I will show them a couplet and tell them it is not only red paper, but also a family wish for the new year.
【词汇积累】custom习俗;put up/paste couplets贴春联;wish愿望;courage勇气;real example真实例子。
【句式拓展】The story tells us that people can face difficulties together with courage. 该句使用that引导宾语从句,说明故事传递的意义。
【点睛】范文围绕“习俗—意义—介绍方式”展开,既有具体活动,又有文化理解,适合主题征文。

The last train before New Year’s Eve reached Pine Town at 10:40 p.m. Many passengers carried boxes of fruit, bags of gifts and heavy coats. At the exit, taxi driver Mr Song waited with a notebook. He wrote down each family’s address so that no one would stand too long in the cold.
A young woman looked worried because her grandmother could not walk fast. Mr Song asked another driver to take their boxes first. Then he helped the grandmother into a warm waiting room. He did not charge extra money. He said going home for the festival should not be made harder by a cold night. The young woman wrote his car number on her phone and thanked him twice.
Before midnight, the station became quiet. Mr Song looked at his notebook and found that he had sent seventeen families home. He was tired, but he felt peaceful. He could not cook dumplings with his own family that evening, yet he helped other families reach their tables. When he finally drove home, his daughter had kept a bowl of hot dumplings for him.
