Dear Jim,
I'm glad you're interested in China's sharing economy.Simply put,it's a system where people share resources-like
cars,bikes,or even apartments-through online platforms.
In China, the most common examples are shared bikes. You can find them almost everywhere in cities.Just scan a QR
code with your phone, ride to where you need to go,and leave the bike there. There are also shared cars, shared
charging stations,and even shared umbrellas.
I think the sharing economy is great. It saves money, reduces waste, and makes life more convenient.Of course,it
also has problems, like bikes blocking sidewalks. But overall,I believe the benefits are bigger than the drawbacks.
Have you tried any shared services in your country?Let me know!
Best wishes,

the exam, she felt a little less lost.
From that night on,Su Yan began to study in a new way.She stopped simply reading her notes over and over.Instead,
she tested herself regularly, covering the page and trying to recall what she had learned. She also started asking her
teacher questions when she did not understand something, instead of pretending she did.The changes were small,
and progress came slowly. But by the time the next exam arrived,Su Yan walked into the classroom with her head
held high. She did not know what score she would get,but she knew she had done everything she could.

Text 1
W: It’s only 2:10 p.m. The students aren’t dismissed until 3:30.
M: Today is Wednesday. Students are dismissed an hour and a half early on Wednesdays.
Text 2
M: Excuse me, I just arrived on the flight from Melbourne, and I can’t find my suitcase at the baggage claim.
W: We’re very sorry, sir. Could you put down your information in this form? We’ll do everything we can to find your suitcase.
M: Okay.
Text 3
M: Ready for the meeting, Iris? Oh, you look pale. Anything wrong?
W: I have a runny nose and I have been coughing for two days. Also, I feel dizzy and have some chest pain.
M: Have you seen a doctor?
W: I’m going to right after this meeting.
Text 4
W: James, we need a guidebook to plan our trip. Look, this one has all the famous tourist attractions, like museums, galleries, and amusement parks.
M: Well, I prefer exploring with a map when I get there. Plus, finding a travel agent is out of the question with our tight budget.
Text 5
W: Am I too late for the ceremony?
M: No, it’s just starting. The runner is just coming into the sports complex with the torch.
W: Oh, this is so exciting!
M: Oh, here come the athletes from each country.
第二节(共15小题;每小题1.5分,满分22.5分)
Text 6
W: What are you doing?
M: Making some plant-shaped toys from cardboard and plastic bottles, you know, self-made works of art.
W: Do you sell them?
M: No, I do these things just for pleasure. It’s my hobby. What do you usually do in your spare time?
W: I’m enthusiastic about photography. It allows me to appreciate the small details with my camera that often go unnoticed.
M: Sounds interesting. What kind of photography do you like?
W: It’s not the kind but the story that counts. Whether it’s landscape photography, wildlife photography, or street photography, I find joy in creating visual stories.
Text 7
W: Honey, have you checked today’s weather forecast?
M: Yes, it’s cold and wet. There is a warning for strong winds up to a hundred kilometers per hour.
W: What are we going to do then?
M: Nothing much, just stay indoors. There is a risk of falling trees and power lines.
W: Right.
M: And the low temperatures could bring snow to the forest area.
W: I hope the extreme weather is over quickly.
M: Well, it won’t get better until late Wednesday. Anyway, I have to pull the car away from the trees.
W: Yeah, you cannot be too careful.
Text 8
M: Mom, is there anything to do around the house?
W: There are always things to do. Why?
M: I want to make more money. I’m saving up for something.
W: What is it?
M: It’s a secret.
W: OK. There are loads of laundry that need to be done. They need to be washed, aired, folded, and put away.
M: Got it! Thanks to the fact that the washing machine has been repaired.
W: Let me know if you want more to do after that. You can help tidy the house, by wiping the table, sweeping the floor and cleaning the windows.
M: OK. I need a lot more to do. I only have a couple of weeks to save.
W: I’m curious. What are you saving up for? A new pair of shoes for yourself?
M: No. Do you promise not to say anything?
W: I promise.
M: I want to buy Dad a new watch for his birthday.
W: That’s very sweet of you. He would love it!
Text 9
W: Sir, you’ve been using the online catalog for quite a while. Is there anything I can help you find?
M: Yes, thank you. I’ve got to write a paper about Hollywood in the 30s and 40s. And I’m really struggling. There’re hundreds of books, and I just don’t know where to begin.
W: Your topic sounds pretty big. Why don’t you narrow it down to something like, er … the history of the comedies during that time?
M: You know, I was thinking about doing that, but more than 30 books came up when I typed in “Hollywood comedies”.
W: You could cut that down even further by listing the specific years you want. Try adding “1930s” or “1940s”, or maybe “Golden Ag”.
M: “Golden Age” is a good idea! Let me type that in. Hey, look! Just six books came up. That’s a lot better. I think I will get started with these books. Thanks a lot.
W: You’re welcome. If you need more help, I’ll be over there, at the Reference Desk.
Text 10
M: Hello, my name’s David Watts. Today I’m going to talk about remote working in the future. Companies are unwilling to accept this for a variety of reasons — because it’s not what they’re used to, because they’re afraid their employees will be lazy if they’re not in the office, because they just don’t see the benefits in allowing their employees to work from home — but those companies that have accepted remote working, and I mean gladly accepted, have seen it for what it is: an excellent opportunity to develop. At my company, about 50% of our full-time, permanent employees now work from home at least three days a week, and the other 50% work from home one day a week, with the exception of departments such as finance, HR and reception. And you know what that means? It means we can rent a smaller space and lower our monthly overhead costs. It means our employees who have children no longer need to quit their jobs to take care of them. They can stay at home with their kids, look after them and at the same time respond to phone calls and emails. It means that our employees are happy, because they save money and time and avoid the stress of traveling to work, and we are happy because they are doing their jobs better as a result of their flexibility.

Dear Jim,
I’m glad you’re interested in China’s sharing economy. Simply put, it’s a system where people share resources — like cars, bikes, or even apartments — through online platforms.
In China, the most common examples are shared bikes. You can find them almost everywhere in cities. Just scan a QR code with your phone, ride to where you need to go, and leave the bike there. There are also shared cars, shared charging stations, and even shared umbrellas.
I think the sharing economy is great. It saves money, reduces waste, and makes life more convenient. Of course, it also has problems, like bikes blocking sidewalks. But overall, I believe the benefits are bigger than the drawbacks.
Have you tried any shared services in your country? Let me know!
Best wishes,
Li Hua

That evening, Su Yan sat at her desk, staring at the red marks on her paper. She wanted to crumple it up and throw it away, but something stopped her. Instead, she took out a fresh notebook and began to go through each mistake, one by one. Some were careless errors; others showed gaps in her understanding. She wrote down the grammar rules she had missed and made a list of vocabulary to review. It was late by the time she finished, but for the first time since the exam, she felt a little less lost.
From that night on, Su Yan began to study in a new way. She stopped simply reading her notes over and over. Instead, she tested herself regularly, covering the page and trying to recall what she had learned. She also started asking her teacher questions when she did not understand something, instead of pretending she did. The changes were small, and progress came slowly. But by the time the next exam arrived, Su Yan walked into the classroom with her head held high. She did not know what score she would get, but she knew she had done everything she could.

Welcome to Senior 3 — Start the Year with Support
The new school year has begun, and Senior 3 can feel heavy at first. For many students, the move from Senior 2 to Senior 3 means harder textbooks and new pressure about the future. To help you begin with confidence, the Student Affairs Office is running three free programs this September.
1. Peer Tutoring Hub
Every Tuesday and Thursday after school (4:30-5:30 p.m., Room 208), top students from last year’s graduating class help with math, physics and English. No booking is needed — just bring your questions and worksheets. They explain difficult points in plain language and share the study methods that worked for them.
2. Time-Management Workshop
On Saturday mornings (9:00-10:30 a.m., Library Hall), a study coach teaches planning, concentration and stress control. Seats are limited to 30 students; please sign up at the office before Friday noon. You will leave with a personal weekly planner and several practical tips to stay calm during busy weeks.
3. Mind & Mood Drop-in
Feeling anxious about the year ahead? Drop by the counseling room (Room 105) any weekday at lunchtime. A school psychologist is there to listen, and everything you share stays private. You may come once or every day; no appointment is required.
All three programs are free for Senior 3 students and run through the first term. Places are open to all, regardless of past results. For details, scan the QR code on the noticeboard or email studentaffairs@school.edu.cn.
21. When is the Peer Tutoring Hub open?
A. Monday and Wednesday mornings. B. Saturday afternoons.
C. Every weekday at lunchtime. D. Tuesday and Thursday after school.
22. What can we infer about the Peer Tutoring Hub?
A. It is run by experienced senior students. B. It charges a small fee for each visit.
C. It only opens on weekend mornings. D. It requires students to book in advance.
23. What is the purpose of the Mind & Mood Drop-in?
A. To give private psychological support. B. To teach math and physics.
C. To train study coaches. D. To organize fundraising events.
B
When Li Mei walked into her first Senior 3 math class, she kept her eyes on the floor. She had spent the summer going over old notes, but the moment she sat down, none of it seemed to stay in her head. Math had never been easy for her, and she had heard from older students that this year moved fast. When the teacher handed back the first monthly exam, she saw a red 68 at the top of the page.
She sat there after class, staring at the paper. The classroom was empty except for her. She copied the wrong questions into a notebook, trying to work out where she had gone wrong, but half of them still did not make sense. Mr. Zhang, her math teacher, came back to fetch his jacket. He looked at her notebook, then at her face. “Stay for a minute,” he said.
He did not give her a speech. He sat down and worked through two problems with her, step by step. When she still looked confused, he drew a small diagram in the margin of her notebook. “Come back at lunch tomorrow if you want,” he said, and left.
She went back the next day, and the day after that. Some days she understood more, some days less. Mr. Zhang never seemed to mind repeating himself. By the end of the term, her scores had moved up — not dramatically, but enough that she no longer dreaded math class. She still got questions wrong, but she had stopped crumpling up her paper when she did.
Years later, when she became a teacher herself, she kept that old notebook with the red 68 in her desk drawer. She did not talk about it often. But when a student sat in her classroom after school, staring at a low score, she would sit down and say, “Let’s look at this one together.”
24. How did Li Mei feel when she entered the first Senior 3 math class?
A. Excited and confident. B. Nervous and unready.
C. Bored and sleepy. D. Angry with the teacher.
25. What did Mr. Zhang do when he found Li Mei in the classroom?
A. He criticized her low score. B. He gave her a lecture on effort.
C. He sat down to help her with the problems. D. He asked her to leave at once.
26. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. She would never fail an exam again. B. She had learned to face setbacks calmly.
C. She planned to give up math completely. D. She believed scores decide everything.
27. What is the main message of the passage?
A. High scores guarantee a bright future. B. Math is the hardest subject.
C. Teachers should be strict. D. Failure can lead to growth if you keep trying.
C
When people picture a city, they rarely picture a wetland. Yet over the past ten years, more cities have been bringing wetlands back — digging ponds, replanting reeds and welcoming water birds into urban parks. These wetlands do more than look nice. They have become an important part of how cities manage their environment.
Their main function is flood control. A wetland works like a sponge: it takes in heavy rain, holds the water and releases it slowly, so rivers and drains are less likely to overflow. This natural protection costs less to maintain than concrete walls and pumps.
Wetlands also clean water and provide homes for wildlife. Plant roots trap pollutants, and the slow flow lets harmful matter settle to the bottom, making the water safer downstream. Meanwhile, the shallow water, tall reeds and open mudflats give migrating birds places to feed and rest. One park in Yinchuan now hosts more than two hundred bird species each year, some traveling thousands of kilometres from Siberia.
Wetlands also help cool the city. Water and plants release moisture into the air, and on hot summer days a park with a wetland can be several degrees cooler than the streets around it.
Protecting wetlands takes land, money and patience. But cities that have made this choice find that nature, when given room, quietly does the work for them.

A. It stores and slowly releases rainwater. B. It pumps water out of the city.

30. How does a wetland make water cleaner?
A. By freezing the water in winter. B. By adding chemicals to the river.
C. By trapping pollutants with plant roots. D. By carrying dirty water away downstream.
31. What can we infer from the example of the park in Yinchuan?
A. Wetland protection is too expensive to keep up.
B. Few cities have room for wetlands.
C. Migrating birds dislike city parks.
D. Restored wetlands can attract birds from far away.

These days, high school students have a lot on their plates. Classes, tutoring, clubs, and phone screens fill most of their waking hours. There is a certain admiration for the student who does everything — joins three clubs, plays a sport, and still gets top grades. But there is a hidden cost to being busy all the time: very little gets done well.
When you spread your attention across ten activities, each one gets only a small part of you. You learn how to start things, but not how to stick with them long enough to get really good. A student who tries five different hobbies may be able to talk about all of them, but cannot do any of them particularly well. On the other hand, picking one or two things and staying with them teaches you patience. You learn what it feels like to get a little better each week, even when progress is hard to see.
Being busy all the time also makes it hard to think clearly. When every minute is filled, you move from one task to the next without really reflecting on any of them. Scrolling through a phone is not the same as thinking. Having some unstructured time — even boredom — can actually help. Some of the best ideas come when you are not trying to have them, when your mind is free to wander.
This does not mean you should do nothing. It means choosing a few things that matter and giving them real attention. That sometimes means saying no to a club, or putting the phone away earlier in the evening. It means accepting that you cannot be good at everything, and that is okay. A life with meaning is not about doing as much as possible. It is about choosing the right things to do, and doing them well.
32. What does the underlined phrase “stick with them” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Do many things at once. B. Continue doing them for a long time.
C. Give them up easily. D. Avoid all activities.
33. What can be inferred about boredom from the passage?
A. It should be avoided at all costs. B. It helps produce creative ideas.
C. It shows a lack of discipline. D. It is a waste of time.
34. What is the author’s attitude toward being “well-rounded”?
A. Fully supportive. B. Strongly opposed.
C. Doubtful of its real value. D. Uninterested.
35. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. The More, the Better B. Doing a Few Things Well
C. How to Join More Clubs D. The Danger of Resting

Senior 3 is often described as the hardest year of school. Most students feel worried at some point, and many feel they are falling behind. But worry itself is not the problem — going through the motions without a plan is. With a few simple changes, the year can feel more manageable. 36
One thing that helps is knowing what you are working toward. It does not have to be a specific university — it could be a subject you want to improve, or a score you hope to reach. Write it down somewhere you will see it each morning. When the work feels endless, that small note can remind you why you started. 37
Sleep is another area where students cut corners. Staying up late to study seems productive, but a tired brain does not hold information well. Most people need seven to eight hours to function properly. 38 An extra hour of sleep is often worth more than an extra hour of review.
It also helps to test yourself instead of just reading notes over and over. Cover the page and try to recall the main points. If you cannot explain something in your own words, you probably do not fully understand it yet. 39
Finally, try to keep some balance. A hobby, a walk with friends, or even just sitting quietly for ten minutes can keep stress from building up. Your value as a person is not determined by a single exam score. 40
A. Here are a few habits that can make the year less stressful.
B. Start by figuring out what you want to achieve.
C. A rested brain picks up new information faster than a tired one.
D. Testing yourself shows what you actually know and what you still need to work on.
E. Taking care of your mind and body helps you keep going when the pressure is high.
F. Studying late into the night is a habit many students are proud of.
G. The more hours you spend studying, the better your results will be.

Su Yan had looked forward to Senior 3 for a long time. She thought about studying with friends, working hard toward her dream university, and finally feeling ready for the future. But the reality came faster than she expected. The textbooks were thicker, the homework came faster, and the first monthly exam arrived only a month after the term began. The confidence she had carried through Senior 2 seemed to disappear a little more each day.
Su Yan had always been good at English. So when the teacher handed back her paper with a 72 circled in red, she could not believe it. Around her, classmates talked about their scores. She folded her paper and put it in her bag, hoping no one would notice. For the first time, she wondered if she really belonged in the top class.
That night at dinner, she picked at her food. Her mother watched her for a moment. “Rough day?” she asked. Su Yan nodded, not trusting herself to speak. Her mother did not push. She just reached across the table and put her hand on Su Yan’s. They sat like that for a while, in silence, while the rest of the family continued eating.
After dinner, her mother brought her a cup of hot milk. “I failed a test once, too,” she said quietly. “I thought I would never recover. But I did. You will, too.” She did not give advice or tell Su Yan to study harder. She just sat with her until Su Yan felt a little calmer. Before she left the room, she added, “You don’t have to figure it all out tonight. Just get some rest, and we can talk tomorrow if you want.” That night, Su Yan went to bed feeling tired, but not alone.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
That evening, Su Yan sat at her desk, staring at the red marks on her paper.
