B A Dream Chaser in a Wheelchair Since the age of three, Chelsie Hill had dreamed of becoming a dancer. That ambition nearly ended in 2010 when Hill was in a car accident, which put the 17-year-old high school senior in hospital for 51 days and left her paralyzed from the waist down. For most people, that would have destroyed any hope of a dancing career. But for Hill, it was the beginning. Far from being a barrier, her wheelchair encouraged her to fight. “I want to prove to everyone including myself that I’m still normal,” she said, “whatever normal means.” Normal for her meant dancing, so Hill did it in her wheelchair alongside her nondisabled high school dance team. Half of her body was taken away from her, so she had to move it with her hands. It took much learning and patience. After graduation from high school, Hill wanted to expand her dance network to include women like her. She met people online who were fighting for the dream of dancing against various spinal(脊椎的)injuries, and invited them to dance with her. To reach more people in a larger city, Hill moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and formed a team of dancers with disabilities she called the Rollettes. Every year Hill holds a dance camp called the Rollettes Experience for wheelchair users to help them bring out their acting talent. In 2019, 173 participants from ten countries attended. For many, it was the first time they’d felt they belonged. Edna Serrano said that being part of the Rollettes team gave her the courage to get behind the wheel of a car. “I didn’t know I could do so many things that my fellow teammates had taught me.” she said. “I didn’t know I could be sexy. It’s so powerful to have my teammates in my life, because they’ re my teachers. I have more confidence.” Chelsie Hill attained what many of us never will: her childhood dream. She has been chasing her dream in the wheelchair. She’s a dancer. The Rollettes have helped her find something else just as fulfilling. 24. What happened to Chelsie Hill in 2010? A. She last her hope of dancing. B. She suffered from a serious disease. C. She realized her dream of becoming a dancer. D. She was severely disabled due to a car accident. 25. What change did the Rolleltes Experience bring to Edna Serrano? A. She could help others. B. She had more confidence in herself. C. She learned how to drive. D. She became cleverer than before. 27. Which of the following words can best describe Chelsie Hill? A. Modest and professional. B. Responsible and creative. C. Determined and inspiring. D. Cooperative and generous. C Getting computers to understand human body language is no simple task. Let’s break down the steps to get a good understanding of what your body language is saying. First, the computer needs to see. So, it needs a camera. But a computer doesn’t see like we do, and it only gets a stream of data from the camera. So, software first has to recognize the shape of a human body, and then map out the key points of our body. Some poor souls have to teach a computer what all of our different body parts look like in lots of different lighting conditions, and lots of different body types. But understanding that an image contains an elbow, a knee, or a face doesn’t do much good. So, now the computer is paying close attention to our faces and our hands. Classifying emotions as body language and facial expressions is literally in our genes, so it comes pretty easily. But computers need to see a ton of examples of any given kind of body language, then to be told what that body language is or means, and then they can, over time, and with more and more examples, identify that same or similar stance with that emotion. If I’m a self-driving car approaching a crosswalk and I see an upheld hand in front of me, I can infer the human wants me to stop as they intend to cross the street. If I instead see that same human using the “move along” gesture, that’s a strong indication that they would prefer me to continue on my journey instead of waiting. A car has just read your body language. 28. What is the first for computers to understand human body language? A. A camera. B. A stream of data. C. Software. D. A lighting condition. 29. Why are emotions divided into body language and facial expressions? A. To encourage people to know about genes. B. To make computers watch person closely. C. To save the time of analysing a ton of data. D. To get computers to recognise them easily. 30. What does the underlined word “stance” in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A. attitude. B. meaning. C. emotion. D. impression. 31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. How Computers Read Body Language B. When Self-driving Cars Will Be Born C. Why Emotions Are of Importance D. What the Unknown Future Holds D On October 16, 2021, the China National Space Administration(CNSA)successfully launched the Shenzhou 13spacecraft using a Long March 2F rocket, carrying three People’s Liberation Army Astronaut Corps(PLAAC)taikonauts(中国航天员)to the Tianhe core cabin module(CCM)(核心舱). Shenzhou 13 is the second crewed mission to the Tianhe CCM, the first module of the China’s Tiangong Space Station, which is currently under construction. The CNSA announced the names of the three crew members, commander Zhai Zhigang, and operators Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu, in a press conference the day before lift-off. In addition, their task is to build the Tiangong Space Station. Wang becomes the first female astronaut to visit the space station. This mission is scheduled to last six months, compared to the previous crewed mission duration of 90 days, which makes this the longest Chinese human spaceflight. The Shenzhou spacecraft is similarly comparable to the Soyuz(联盟号飞船)in its design and technology but the Shenzhou is substantially bigger at 9.25m×2.8 m. The spacecraft’s first flight was on November 19,1999, and its first crewed launch was the Shenzhou 5, which was launched on October 15, 2003, making China the 3rd country to demonstrate human spaceflight capabilities. The spacecraft has three modules: a forward orbital module, a reentry capsule in the middle, and a back service module. The orbital module has room to store experiment equipment, and is a space for in-orbit habitation. The reentry module is the middle section of the spacecraft. This is where the crew sits for lift-off and reentry, and is the only part of the vehicle which makes it back to Earth. The service module holds the life support and equipment needed for the Shenzhou to function. The spacecraft also has two sets of solar panels, with a total area of 40 m2. One pair is found on the service module, and the other on the orbital module. 32. What is the main task of Shenzhou 13? A. To fix the Tianhe core cabin module. B. To build the Tiangong Space Station. C. To carry three trained crew members. D. To set a new record of spaceflight. 33. What can we say about the Shenzhou spacecraft? A. It’s similar to the Soyuz in some ways. B. It’s the largest spacecraft in the world. C. It’s last flight was on October 15,2003. D. It’s spaceflight capabilities rank third. 34. What is vital to the taikonauts’ living conditions? A.
