Step 2 Work on 1a 1.Ask students to look at the words in 1a.Explain the meaning of each word if necessary.Then ask them to match each word with its opposite. 2.Check the answers together.Invite students to read the word pairs aloud to reinforce the vocabulary. Step 3 Work on 1b-1d 1.Play the recording for the first time.Ask students to listen carefully and tick the locations where the conversations take place in 1b. 2.Play the recording again and ask students to complete the sentences in 1c. 3.Play the recording once more.Ask students to listen and match the characters with the correct descriptions in 1d. 4.Check the answers.Let students read the descriptions and make sure they understand the differences between the characters. Step 4 Work on 1e 1.Divide students into pairs.Ask them to use the information from 1d to make comparisons.Walk around the classroom to monitor students’ conversations.Offer help if they have any problems. 2.Invite several pairs to share their conversations in front of the class.
