A
Romain Rolland once said, “There is only one kind of heroism (英雄主义) in the world, and that is to still love life after recognizing the truth of life.” Cai Lei, a patient with ALS (渐冻症), perfectly explains it.
Cai Lei was once the vice (副) president of Jingdong Group, with a good job and a happy family. But who would have thought that at the age of 41, he got ALS and could only watch his body “frozen” until he could not breathe. He didn’t want to give up, but wanted to do something for people with ALS — producing medicines for the treatment of ALS.
When hearing this news, everyone thought he was crazy because medical development usually takes at least 10 years. But the period from diagnosis to death of patients with ALS is no more than 5 years. What’s worse, many people still misunderstand him. Everyone’s misunderstanding is like a fire, burning Cai Lei’s heart.
Although he is heartbroken, he never gave up. He threw himself into the research and development of medicines. He believes, even if we can’t use this medicine, we may let our future children use it.

A. One kind of heroism. B. Romain Rolland’s saying.
C. The truth of life. D. The illness of ALS.
( ) 22. Why did people think Cai Lei was crazy?
A. Because he wanted to leave his happy family and gave up his job.

Wang Miao was born in the Year of the Dragon near the Bohai Sea. Her grandfather named her Miao, which has three Chinese characters for “water”. He said dragons live well with water, so this name would bring her good luck. From then on, she was closely connected with water.
Wang Miao began to dive in 2015 in the Philippines. As she spent more time in the water, she began to see not only the ocean’s beauty but also its suffering. No matter where or how deep she went in the sea, she always found rubbish. She knew she must do something, even if one person’s effort might seem small.
After graduation, Wang Miao began working on environmental projects. She realized diving is a very good skill for ocean protection. Divers join hands to deal with the waste fishing nets and other rubbish. This way works well in Russia, New Zealand and some other countries. She thought it could work in China too. 三、阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,共30分)
A
Romain Rolland once said, “There is only one kind of heroism (英雄主义) in the world, and that is to still love life after recognizing the truth of life.” Cai Lei, a patient with ALS (渐冻症), perfectly explains it.
