第一节(满分15分)
Should We Add Group Fun Events to the Next Sports Meet?
I am a strong advocate for this proposal.
First, fun team sports can bring students closer which helps build a friendly class atmosphere. I believe the cooperation in games will make our class more united. Second, unlike traditional races, these events are accessible to all. They are more inclusive. Students of varying fitness levels can actively participate and enjoy themselves, rather than just watching from the sidelines. Besides, they also help relieve study pressure and inject fresh vitality into the sports meet, turning it into a true festival for everyone.
I truly hope our school will adopt this suggestion/embrace this idea and present us with a more memorable sports meet.
第二节(满分25分)
Suddenly, my eyes fell upon Mr. Henderson’s notebook. I opened it curiously. Inside were pages of neat handwriting — his lifelong observations about our town. I found a detailed record of that historic building, noting its cultural significance and the generations who had gathered there. “A story isn’t just about what happened; it’s about what it means to people,” a circled note read. It dawned on me that his sharp remarks were never meant to discourage me, but to urge me to look beyond cold facts. The core fact was the fire, but the emotion was our community’s profound loss. Energized, I restarted my draft, weaving the destruction of the fire with the residents’ sorrow.
Two days later, Mr. Henderson walked in with a wide smile, holding a fresh newspaper. My story occupied the entire front page, with the title A Century of Warmth, Gone with the Flame. He walked straight to my desk, tapped the paper gently and said, “You finally found the heart of the story.” I looked at his still-pale face, suddenly understanding that his endless red-ink notes were never picky criticism, but an experienced reporter’s way of passing on his wisdom. Gratitude welled up in my heart, and my dream of writing touching front-page stories finally took root.

Text 10 指导球员(第17题为总结题)
Hi, Tony. (18) (20) I’m writing this email to talk about your performance in the last match. First of all, well done. You played with great energy and really put in the effort. However, there are a few areas for improvement. Let’s start with your passing. (18) (19) You did a great job getting the ball forward, but there were several times when the pass missed your target. It’s important to make sure that your passes are sharp and accurate. (18) If you can improve that, we’ll be much more effective. Another thing is your positioning. (19) You’ve got the right idea about getting into the box, but you were often caught out of position, especially when we were defending. Remember, it’s not just about getting forward. You also need to be aware of your defense responsibilities. Lastly, I want to talk about your decision-making. (19) (20) You’re quick on the ball, but don’t rush. Take an extra second to assess your options. (20) Overall, you’ve shown real progress.

The National Gallery has launched a new exhibition called Art on Your Doorstep, taking life-sized versions of some masterpieces to communities around the UK. This project works with organizations across the UK to help share masterpieces from the nation’s collection with communities beyond Trafalgar Square. It will be reaching all four nations of the UK, travelling to a total of 12 partners. The National Gallery offers up to 30 printed reproductions of masterpieces from its collection each time.
The first exhibition started in Stoke-on-Trent on 4 June 2025. Fifteen printed masterpieces were installed in an outdoor exhibition in Bethesda Gardens, opposite The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, as part of the city’s Centenary celebrations. Right now the free outdoor exhibition is running in Croydon, London.
In each location, the local community has helped choose the paintings to be displayed. Croydon’s exhibition features 30 paintings. Caterina Loriggio, who works on cultural events in Croydon, said that they ran workshops with residents to choose the artworks. The workshops asked questions such as “Which painting reminds you of Croydon?”, and residents chose from different paintings for their answer. Loriggio said, “What was interesting was how many people chose the same things.”
Every year, the National Gallery partners with organizations and audiences across the UK in a range of different and innovative ways. They want to ensure that everyone in the UK can engage with their national collection. Over the past years they have partnered with a number of organizations through a range of projects including their flagship Masterpiece Tour, contemporary Artist-in-Residence programme, National Treasures, Visits tour and Take One Picture programme.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing a bad fall, largely attributed to my ADHD (注意缺陷多动障碍) drugs running out. This has made it challenging for me to find the motivation to tackle daily tasks, including regular exercise.
However, a recent workout led to an epiphany: neglecting physical activity was actually worsening my condition. It appears that engaging in physical activity could be an effective strategy for managing my ADHD symptoms while I await a prescription refill.
After a workout, my mind feels quieter, much like when I take my medication. This makes sense as ADHD drugs increase levels of a brain chemical called noradrenaline (去甲肾上腺素), enhancing focus, memory, and impulse control. Exercise also increases this chemical.
While these insights are promising, I’m not ready to stop my medication. Research on exercise and ADHD has mixed results. A 2023 review of 106 studies showed exercise significantly improves impulse control, attention, and task-switching in young people with ADHD. However, its impact on regulating emotions and working memory is less pronounced, and the benefits are even less for adults. In another study, 10 minutes of exercise improved impulse control in 82 adults with ADHD but had no effect on other symptoms.
These findings suggest that exercise has a modest effect on ADHD but highlight additional benefits beyond physical health. The evidence is particularly strong for depression and anxiety. A 2023 review of nearly 300 trials involving over 15,800 adults found physical activity as effective as talk therapy and medications in reducing symptoms. The benefit was stronger when combined with these treatments.
Exercise may also alleviate symptoms of other mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It appears protective as well. A 2018 study of over 12 million adults found that those who exercised experienced 43 percent fewer days of poor mental health than those who didn’t. The link was strongest for team sports, cycling, and aerobic and gym activities.
I’m relieved to have found a strategy for managing my ADHD symptoms without medication. Even though exercising is the last thing I want to do when overwhelmed, I now realize its importance. The benefits of exercise for mental health are clear, and I’m committed to making it a priority in my life.
24. What does the underlined part “an epiphany” most likely mean in paragraph 2?
A. A rush resolution or decision. B. A sense of disappointment.
C. A sudden realization or insight. D. A moment of great happiness.
25. What role does exercise play according to the research findings presented in the passage?
A. Exercise is a perfect replacement for ADHD medication.
B. Exercise has no effect on mental health conditions other than ADHD.
C. Exercise can complement medication in managing ADHD symptoms.
D. Exercise benefits physical health more than obsessive-compulsive disorder.
26. Which of the following best describes the author’s attitude towards exercise?
A. Limited but importance-aware. B. Casual but focused.
C. Inconsistent but passionate. D. Negative but disciplined.
27. What can we learn from the experience with exercise and ADHD?
A. Prevention is better than cure. B. Every cloud has a silver lining.
C. A healthy outside starts from the inside. D. The body is a temple; the mind is a palace.
C
Traditionally, deep strategic analysis required extensive financial support and massive data teams, giving wealthy footballing nations a distinct advantage. Smaller countries with limited budgets could rarely afford dedicated data scientists or custom analytics software, creating an unfair gap in competitive preparation.
This imbalance will be largely erased at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, thanks to a full set of artificial intelligence tools co-developed by FIFA and its official tech partner Lenovo. The core of this AI revolution is Football AI Pro, a generative AI platform open free of charge to all 48 competing teams across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Powered by Lenovo’s advanced AI technology and built on FIFA’s tailored Football Language model, the platform processes hundreds of millions of data points from every match. It turns complicated athletic statistics into easy-to-digest outputs: written strategic summaries, highlight video clips, interactive charts and dynamic 3D field visualizations. Supporting over 15 human languages, the AI assistant lets coaches type natural-language questions before kickoff to study opposing teams’ patterns, and after games to fix their own team’s weak spots. To protect independent human coaching judgment, FIFA has set a strict rule: Football AI Pro cannot be used during live match play.
FIFA’s innovation team stresses that artificial intelligence acts only as an assistant, never a replacement for human skill, judgment or creativity. The software can process endless match data, but it cannot copy a coach’s intuition, a referee’s sense of fair play, or a player’s spontaneous in-game brilliance.
Looking ahead, the 2026 World Cup serves as a global blueprint for how AI can make top sports more equal. For decades, cutting-edge sports technology was a luxury reserved for well-funded top leagues and wealthy national teams. This tournament proves that intelligent data tools can be shared universally, letting talent — not financial power — decide which teams advance in the world’s biggest football competition.
28. Why is the AI platform developed?
A. To bridge the divide. B. To maximize profits.
C. To encourage creativity. D. To gain global popularity.
29. What can be learned about Football AI Pro?
A. It dominates live matches. B. It sets limits on language.
C. It simplifies complex data. D. It determines human judgement.
30. What does the last paragraph focus on?
A. Limitations of AI platforms. B. Application of intelligent data tools.
C. Prospect of top football teams. D. Significance of AI-based sports tech.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Football AI Pro: A Game Controller B. FIFA World Cup: A Highly Anticipated Event
C. Football AI Pro: A Capable Assistant D. Football Language Model: A Charged Service
D
For over two thousand years, scientists and philosophers have been puzzled by a simple question: how can plants, without eyes, grow toward light? While animals use eyes to detect the direction of light, plants seem to have no such organ. So how do they do it?
Early Greek thinkers believed plants could sense and react to their environment — almost like animals. But Aristotle later argued that plants were passive, unable to perceive or respond to the world around them. His view influenced Western thought for centuries.
However, a team of European researchers has now uncovered the secret. They focused on Arabidopsis, a small weed commonly used in plant genetics. Using advanced imaging techniques such as confocal microscopy, the scientists measured how light passes through the plant’s stem. Their results, published in a recent study, showed that the air channels between the plant’s cells scatter the light, bending it significantly as it travels through the tissue. One researcher noted, “It’s like the plant has thousands of tiny lenses.” This scattering creates subtle differences in light intensity across the stem, allowing the plant to pinpoint the light’s direction accurately.
In other words, the plant doesn’t need eyes. Instead, it uses its entire body to sense light. This clever mechanism lets seedlings “see” where the light is coming from and adjust their growth toward it.
The findings not only solve an ancient mystery but also challenge Aristotle’s idea that plants are passive. It turns out that plants have evolved a sophisticated way to perceive their environment — without the need for complex organs like eyes. They are far more active and adaptive than we once thought.
This research opens new questions for plant biologists. How are these air channels formed? How exactly do plants process the light information? Understanding these mechanisms could help us learn more about how plants interact with the world — and perhaps even inspire new technologies in light sensing and robotics.
32. How does the author introduce the topic in the first paragraph?
A. By making a comparison. B. By presenting a puzzle.
C. By stating a phenomenon. D. By quoting a philosopher.
33. What is the key finding of the European researchers’ study?
A. Plant cells contain special proteins that respond to light.
B. Arabidopsis has a unique genetic structure for light sensing.
C. Light intensity varies significantly in different plant tissues.
D. Plants use air channels as tiny lenses to detect light direction.
34. What is the significance of the research findings?
A. They explain the formation of air channels. B. They reveal plants’ passive growth pattern.
C. They challenge traditional views of plants. D. They confirm Aristotle’s theory about plants.
35. What might be the future impact of this research?
A. Faster plant growth. B. Better light sensors.
C. Stronger leaf formation. D. More robot production.

Any time of the day you can commit to exercising is a good time for getting active. However, the best time to exercise is different for each person. 36
Determine when you have the most energy. Do you struggle to get out of the bed in the morning or do you wake up energized and ready to go? Are you a night owl and never get to bed before midnight? Once you establish what your sleep tendencies are, you will have a better idea of when your body is most ready to exercise. 37 You are more likely to hit the snooze button instead of getting a workout in.
Consider your daily schedule. When are you the busiest? 38 Try to fit in exercise before or at least around these events. Some people would prefer to get it out of the way first thing, while others prefer to put it off until the end of the day when they are all caught up.
Determine your exercise goals. If you are trying to develop a routine, you may want to exercise in the morning. People who exercise in the morning are more consistent. 39 If you are trying to improve your performance, evening exercise may be best. You may experience less tiredness, quicker reaction times, and more strength and flexibility in the evening. If you are trying to lose weight, you may want to exercise in the morning before you have eaten when your body is more likely to use fat instead of carbohydrates (碳水化合物) for energy.
40 This way, you’ll see how you feel and find the time that works best with you schedule. Keep an exercise log to help you evaluate each time.
A. This will give your body time to relax.
B. Do you perform better in the morning or at night?
C. You may not feel like exercising after a long day of work.
D. When do you tend to schedule your most important tasks?
E. Consider your lifestyle and exercise goals to find the right time.
F. If you’re not a morning person, do not schedule an early morning workout.
G. Anyway, you’d better experiment with both morning and evening workouts.

As a new reporter at a local newspaper office, my biggest dream was to write a front-page story that could touch readers’ hearts. However, to my disappointment, I was assigned to Mr. Henderson, a most cold and strict editor in the office.
He was a man of few words who never smiled at anyone. He constantly rejected my drafts, leaving messy red-ink notes all over the empty space of my papers. “Where is the core fact?” “Where is the emotion?” he would write. Those notes were harsh, but strangely, they were also incredibly detailed, always pointing out exactly where and how a story was weak. Still, facing his sharp eyes and endless criticism day after day, I felt so defeated that I seriously considered quitting. I was convinced that he just didn’t like me.
Then, a huge story broke. A historic building downtown, one that had stood for over a century as a symbol of our town, suddenly caught fire, and our newspaper needed an urgent headline report. Yet, right at that important moment, Mr. Henderson unexpectedly fell ill. Before going to the hospital, he walked slowly to my desk, his face pale. Without saying a word, he placed his old, thick notebook on my desk, which he always carried with him. He tapped on it, and left me in total charge of the big report.
Racing against time, I rushed to the smoke-filled scene, interviewed shocked witnesses, and gathered facts. The big fire had destroyed the roof, leaving only the black brick walls standing. When I hurried back, only three hours remained before the final deadline.
Sitting before the computer with my shaking hands, I typed anxiously. I rewrote the opening three times, deleting sentences back and forth. Each version felt lifeless. I just couldn’t find the core fact or the emotion Mr. Henderson always demanded.
The wall clock counted down to my failure. Depressed, I pulled at my hair. My heart sank as the letters seemed to laugh at my helplessness.
