The first time I used a self-service ticket machine at a railway station, I stood in front of the screen for several minutes without touching it. I was not afraid of the machine itself; I simply worried that one wrong choice would make me lose my money or miss the train.
An older woman standing behind me noticed my hesitation. Instead of taking over, she asked which part I found difficult. I told her that I could not decide whether to choose a paper ticket or a digital one. She explained that both choices were available, but a passenger should check the name, date and train number carefully before paying.
Following her advice, I read each line twice. The machine then printed my ticket, and the whole process took less than five minutes. I thanked the woman, who smiled and said that she had once needed help herself. She believed that people should explain a new machine patiently, because a quick answer may solve one problem while a clear explanation can help someone handle the next problem alone.
Since that day, I have used the machine several times. I still check the information before pressing the final button, but I no longer feel nervous. What changed was not the machine; it was my understanding of how to use it.

A. The machine was broken.
B. The writer worried about making a mistake.
C. The station was too noisy.

29. What does the underlined word “hesitation” most probably mean?
A. A feeling of not knowing what to do.
B. A strong wish to leave.
C. A plan to help others.
D. A way of saving money.
30. What is the best title for the passage?
A. A Broken Ticket Machine
B. A Difficult Train Journey
C. A Busy Railway Station
D. A Lesson Beyond Buying a Ticket
Text 3
Many people keep food in the refrigerator, but they sometimes forget that cold air cannot solve every storage problem. Different foods need different conditions, and knowing a few simple rules can help families waste less food.
Fresh vegetables should usually be kept in a clean drawer, where they are protected from being pressed by heavier items. Some fruits, such as bananas, may become dark more quickly in the refrigerator, so they are often better kept at room temperature until they are ripe. Once a fruit is cut, however, it should be covered and refrigerated.
Leftover food should not stay on the table for a long time. After it has cooled slightly, put it into a clean container and place it in the refrigerator. A container with a date written on it makes it easier to remember when the food was stored. Before eating leftovers, check their smell and appearance; when there is any doubt, it is safer not to eat them.
These rules are not difficult, but they require attention. A refrigerator is a useful tool, not a replacement for good habits. When people buy only what they can use, store food properly and check it regularly, they can save money as well as reduce waste.
31. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to choose a refrigerator.
B. How to store food properly.
C. Why food is expensive.
D. Where to buy fresh fruit.
32. Where should fresh vegetables usually be kept?
A. In a clean drawer.
B. On the kitchen floor.
C. Near the window.
D. On top of heavy boxes.
33. What should people do with a cut fruit?
A. Leave it outside all day.
B. Put it beside bananas.
C. Cover and refrigerate it.
D. Wash it with hot water.
34. Why is it useful to write a date on a container?
A. To make the container beautiful.
B. To remember when the food was stored.
C. To show who cooked the food.
D. To make the food cool faster.
35. What does the writer think of a refrigerator?
A. It can replace all good habits.
B. It is not needed by most families.
C. It makes food fresh forever.
D. It is useful but cannot solve every storage problem.

第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,共10分。)
阅读下列短文,从短文后的A—E五个选项中选出最佳选项,填入空白处。
A clear study plan does not have to be long or complicated. It only needs to tell you what to do and when to do it. Before making a plan, look at the time you really have each day. ___36___
Then divide a large task into smaller ones. For example, do not write “learn English” on your plan. ___37___ A small task is easier to start and easier to check.
Leave some space between tasks. If one activity takes longer than expected, the whole plan will not be broken. ___38___
At the end of the day, look back at your plan. Mark the tasks you have finished and move the unfinished ones to another suitable time. ___39___
Finally, remember that a plan is a guide, not a punishment. ___40___ A useful plan should help you feel more in control of your time.
A. Then you will have time to deal with small changes.
B. Write down your classes, meals and other fixed activities first.
C. Change it when your situation changes.
D. Instead, write something like “read one passage and learn five new words”.
E. Do not regard an unfinished task as a failure.
【答案】36. B 37. D 38. A 39. E 40. C
【详解】36. B。上文要求先了解每天真正拥有的时间,下文继续说明制定计划,因此B项“Write down your classes, meals and other fixed activities first.”能够承接上下文。
37. D。上文举例说明不要只写“学习英语”,下文说明小任务更容易开始和检查,因此D项具体列出一个可执行的小任务,衔接自然。
38. A。上文说明任务之间要留出空间,A项“Then you will have time to deal with small changes.”进一步解释这样安排的好处,符合逻辑。
39. E。上文要求检查当天计划并调整未完成任务,E项“Do not regard an unfinished task as a failure.”承接情绪和方法,符合语境。
40. C。上文说计划是指导而不是惩罚,下文说明计划应帮助人掌控时间,C项“Change it when your situation changes.”说明计划可以调整,逻辑完整。
