◆Usually a play contains several "acts 幕".
◆Each act is divided into several scenes 场.
◆The setting 场景 usually shows when and where each scene happens.

Millie is writing an outline for her play. Read it and then add some ideas to the story.
Predict: What will happen when Emily knocks at the door?
◆Emily notices Julie is upset and invites her to go to school together.
◆Julie slowly opens up and agrees to hang out with Emily at the weekend.
Read the first scene in Millie’s play script.

Mum: You know why, Julie. Your father got a wonderful new job here. It will be a little

[Julie stands behind her mum and looks down quietly. Emily smiles warmly at Julie.]
Emily: Hi! I’m Emily, your new classmate. I live next door. Are you ready for school?
Julie: [(nervous, speaking softly)] Hello…
Emily: I heard your family just moved here. Do you like this city?
Julie: Not really. I miss my old home because I left all my good friends there.
Emily: I understand. It’s hard to fit in at first. Have you been to the city park near our school? It’s beautiful.
Julie: No, I haven’t.
Emily: [(holds out her hand)] Come on! Let’s walk to school together. Can I show you around the park this Saturday?
Julie: [(looks up and smiles slightly)] OK. Thank you.
