Your journey begins in the Scottish Highlands near Great Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. While in transit (途中),you’ll see green hills, small towns, and cross over the famous Glenfinnan bridge over a valley. Belmond Hiram Bingham, Peru Named after the American explorer who rediscovered the Inca site in 1911, Belmond, the route itself is 57 miles and lasts about three and a half hours in each direction. This trip begins at the ancient capital city of Cusco, goes through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and ends at the World Heritage Site in the Andes Mountains. 1. As he got closer, he realized it was not a bag but a bald eagle. He stopped his car at the roadside, and carefully walked into the roadway to hold up the bird with his hands. “It didn’t resist (反抗) at all. I had my arms crossed. Its head was more or less lying on my arm. It was not in great shape.” Two women pulled over after seeing the 52-year-old with the bird and called the police, who contacted animal control expert Jim Horton from QualityPro Pest & Wildlife Services. He said it’s the second time in the last few months that his company has been contacted to help an eagle in trouble. Horton said it’s great what Fear did for the bird, calling it “a once-in-a-lifetime thing”. Missy Runyan, from the Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center Incorporated, an organization in nearby Hunter, said the bird was first thought to be hit by a car but there was no wound. It was, however, suffering from lead poisoning (铅中毒), which influences its eyesight. “It’s likely that it hit a tree or something with its wing, leaving it grounded,” said Runyan, who’s been taking care of injured eagles for the past 15 years. Runyan said a wildlife officer was actually looking for the eagle after someone had called earlier in the day but it could not be found. She realized it was the same bird after the other call came in about it. Runyan, who is treating seven eagles now, said the infection (感染) in the eagle’s wing is being treated and it should be good to fly away in about a month and a half. 4. What did Fear regard the bald eagle as at first? A. A wing. B. A ball. C. A bag. D. A toy car. 5. What did the two women do after seeing Fear? A. They took care of the bald eagle. B. They asked the police for help. C. They called an animal control expert. D. They sent the bird to an animal center. 6. Paragraph 3 is mainly about ______. A. what Runyan did for a living B. the results of lead poisoning C. the knowledge of saving eagles D. what happened to the eagle 7. How is Runyan helping the eagle? A. By treating its infection. B. By training it to fly. C. By learning where it came from. D. By reporting it to a wildlife officer. C 5. B 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“Tom Fear was driving home on Hutchinson River Parkway last week when he thought he saw a large bag in the roadway. As he got closer, he realized it was not a bag but a bald eagle.(汤姆・费尔上周在哈钦森河公园路上开车回家时,他觉得自己在路上看到了一个大袋子。当他走近时,他意识到那不是一个袋子,而是一只秃鹰。)”可知,汤姆・费尔起初以为那只秃鹰是一个大袋子。故选C项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Two women pulled over after seeing the 52-year-old with the bird and called the police, who contacted animal control expert Jim Horton from QualityPro Pest & Wildlife Services.(两名妇女在看到这名52岁的男子带着这只鸟后把车停在路边,并报了警,后者联系了来自QualityPro Pest & Wildlife Services的动物控制专家吉姆·霍顿(Jim Horton)。)” 根据第三段“Missy Runyan, from the Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center Incorporated, an organization in nearby Hunter, said the bird was first thought to be hit by a car but there was no wound. It was, however, suffering from lead poisoning (铅中毒), which influences its eyesight. “It’s likely that it hit a tree or something with its wing, leaving it grounded,” said Runyan, who’s been taking care of injured eagles for the past 15 years.(来自亨特附近的“羽毛和毛茸茸的野生动物中心之友”组织的米西·鲁尼恩说,这只鸟最初被认为是被车撞了,但没有受伤。然而,它患有铅中毒,影响了它的视力。“它很可能用翅膀撞到了树或什么东西,导致它落在地上,”过去15年来一直在照顾受伤的老鹰的鲁尼恩说。)” 可知,第三段主要讲了这只秃鹰起初被认为是被车撞了,但没有伤口,实际上是铅中毒影响了视力,很可能是翅膀撞到了树之类的东西才落在地上,也就是这只秃鹰发生了什么事。故选D项。 【7题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Runyan, who is treating seven eagles now, said the infection (感染) in the eagle’s wing is being treated and it should be good to fly away in about a month and a half.(目前正在治疗七只老鹰的鲁尼恩说,老鹰翅膀上的感染正在治疗中,大约一个半月后就可以飞走了。)” 故选A项。 C Getting a high grade in an exam depends partly on how much you can remember. So, improving memory is essential to success in studying. But is there anything that we can do about it? One solution might be walking backwards. According to a new study published in the Journal of Cognition, walking backwards, whether doing it really or just imagining it, can boost (增强) the brainpower in the short term. In the study, 114 volunteers were asked to watch a video in which a woman had her bag stolen. Then they answered 20 questions about the details shown in the video. Ten minutes after watching the video, the volunteers were divided into three groups. The first two groups were told to move forwards or backwards 10 meters while the third group was asked to stay still on the same point. The researchers found that the backwards-walking group got two more correct answers on average than the other two groups. This suggests that a relationship between the concepts (概念) of time and space is essential to the way our minds form memories. When we walk backwards, everything we learn becomes strange to us. "This forces the brain to think in a different way—it's a rewiring and changes the focus," US neuropsychologist (神经心理学家) Christine Weber told Forbes. It almost always means that our brain needs to be more active and alert in the limited time. Naturally, our short-term memory will be improved significantly. Apart from improving our memory, walking backwards also plays an important role in physical health, especially fitness. A study published in Journal of Biomechanics in 2012 found that backward walking puts less strain and requires a smaller range of movements from the knee joints (膝关节). Thus, there's less pressure and pain in the knees. In addition, walking backwards, compared to forward walking, is more challenging. It requires you to use muscles and movements that you probably rarely use, making it a perfect way to change your exercise routine for greater fitness gains. Meanwhile, by making people put in extra effort, it naturally burns more fat and calories. 8. Which group of people perform best in the memory test? A. The staying-still group. B. The forwards-walking group. C. The imaginary-walking group. D. The backwards-walking group. 9. In what way does walking backwards benefit people's health? A. It can make people slim. B. It can reduce peopled stress. C. It can strengthen people's joints. D. It can make people more energetic. 10. What do we know about backward walking? A. It follows our exercise routine. B. It limits people's thinking time. C. It directs our focus to important details. D. It makes people's brain more active and alert. 11. What's the writer's purpose in writing paragraph 4? A. To add another aspect of the topic. B. To support the result of the research. C. To sum up the main idea of the passage. D. To provide some background information. D 9. A 10. D 11. 由第三段中的“The researchers found that the backwards-walking group got two more correct answers on average than the other two groups.”(研究人员发现,向后行走组平均比其他两组多得到两个正确答案。) 由最后一段中的“It requires you to use muscles and movements that you probably rarely use, making it a perfect way to change your exercise routine for greater fitness gains. Meanwhile, by making people put in extra effort, it naturally burns more fat and calories.”(它要求你使用肌肉和你可能很少使用的运动,使向后行走成为一个完美的方式来改变你的锻炼计划,以获得更大的健身收益。 故选A项。 由第四段中的“It almost always means that our brain needs to be more active and alert in the limited time.”(向后行走几乎总是意味着我们的大脑需要在有限的时间内变得更加活跃和警觉。) 由第四段尾句“It almost always means that our brain needs to be more active and alert in the limited time. Naturally, our short-term memory will be improved significantly.”(向后行走几乎总是意味着我们的大脑需要在有限的时间内变得更加活跃和警觉。 D Not long ago, you had to physically hand over cash to buy something. You witnessed it exit your wallet. You sensed it. But with payment services Klarna or Clearpay, you can now pay for a new phone in three installments (分期付款) and barely notice the difference. This isn’t just a shopping habit; it’s a reflection of how we relate to money today. We are becoming increasingly free of the emotional burden of spending. Additionally, our mental health is being profoundly affected by this quiet shift. The popularity of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) plans has soared. They promise freedom and flexibility, but the ease of use can trick our minds. When payment is divided into smaller payments, we are wired to feel less emotionally tired. Although the £15 payments seem insignificant, they quickly add up. Psychologists found that when the act of paying is separated from the act of purchasing, we experience less “pain of paying”, which makes us more likely to overspend. In societies where digital credit is easily accessible but financial education is limited, this behaviour can fall into lasting debt. Stress over money doesn’t stay in the bank. It follows us into our homes and even our sleep. Researches have shown that personal debt is strongly associated with depression and anxiety. That’s why we need to talk about money more often — not just how to make it, but how we feel about it — in families, schools, workplaces, and therapy rooms. Therapists should be able to ask about financial stress with confidence. Financial education ought to be treated as essential in schools. Additionally, we should normalize debt-related conversations to relieve people’s feelings of shame. Financial stress can make you feel helpless. But by addressing the emotional side of money and building healthier habits, we can move from crisis to confidence. We live in a world where money is invisible. But the emotional burden it takes is very real. If we start noticing that cost, we might finally treat money not only as a resource, but as something deeply psychological. 12. What phenomenon does the author point out in paragraph 1? A. Klarna and Clearpay help people save money. B. Digital payments are now relatively preferred. C. Invisible payments have improved mental health. D. Installments ease the emotional spending burden. 13. What may BNPL result in? A. Improved financial knowledge. B. Easy access to digital credit. C. Overspending and long-term debt. D. Decrease of small-amount expenses. 14. How can we build healthier financial habits? A. Value financial education. B. Hide feelings of shame. C. Mask people’s financial stress. D. Highlight debt-related problems. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Cash Shopping: The Healthy Way of Consumption B. Money’s Emotional Cost: Beyond Invisible Payments C. BNPL: A New Approach to Boost Consumer Spending D. Financial Education: The Core to Cutting Expenses 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. A 15. 根据第一段中“But with payment services Klarna or Clearpay, you can now pay for a new phone in three installments (分期付款) and barely notice the difference. This isn’t just a shopping habit; it’s a reflection of how we relate to money today. We are becoming increasingly free of the emotional burden of spending. (但有了Klarna或Clearpay支付服务,你现在可以分三期付款购买新手机,几乎察觉不到差别。这不仅仅是一种购物习惯;这反映了我们今天与金钱的关系。我们正逐渐摆脱消费带来的情感负担)”可知,作者指出,分期付款减少了人们消费时的心理负担。故选D项。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Psychologists found that when the act of paying is separated from the act of purchasing, we experience less “pain of paying”, which makes us more likely to overspend. In societies where digital credit is easily accessible but financial education is limited, this behaviour can fall into lasting debt. (心理学家发现,当支付行为与购买行为分开时,我们经历的“支付之痛”就会减少,这使我们更有可能超支。在数字信贷容易获得但金融教育有限的社会,这种行为可能会陷入长期债务)”可知,“先买后付”可能导致超支和长期债务。故选C项。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Financial education ought to be treated as essential in schools. Additionally, we should normalize debt-related conversations to relieve people’s feelings of shame. (金融教育应该在学校中被视为必不可少的。此外,我们应该使债务相关的对话正常化,以减轻人们的羞耻感)”可知,作者建议加强金融教育,而非掩盖羞耻感、掩饰财务压力,或强调债务问题。故选A项。 通读全文,尤其是第一段中“We are becoming increasingly free of the emotional burden of spending. Additionally, our mental health is being profoundly affected by this quiet shift. (我们正逐渐摆脱消费带来的情感负担。此外,我们的心理健康正受到这种悄然转变的深刻影响)”和最后一段“We live in a world where money is invisible. But the emotional burden it takes is very real. If we start noticing that cost, we might finally treat money not only as a resource, but as something deeply psychological. How to Have a Successful Teenage Life Everyone dreams of success in their life, don’t they? Like many other students, I was eager to get involved in various activities and make the most of my college life. So, when I was accepted into our school’s famous chorus (合唱团) program, I was over the moon. The prospect of going on an international tour to China and other Asian countries was just amazing, and I was determined to do everything I could to be a good member of the chorus. One of our first performances was scheduled at the city hall about an hour away from campus. I had been looking forward to it for weeks. But that very morning, disaster struck. I woke up late and realized with horror that I had missed the bus that was supposed to take us there. My heart sank. I felt panic rising in me. I thought to myself, “This is the end of everything.” The thought of missing the international tour because of my mistake made me feel really terrible. I didn’t have a car, and I didn’t know anyone nearby who could drive me there. I was at a loss as to what to do. So, I just wandered out into the hallway, feeling really upset and kind of crying silently. That’s when Pam, my neighbor across the dormitory, came out to see what was wrong. Pam and I had known each other for two months, but our relationship had been rocky. A lot of that was my fault. I had just arrived at college and made some freshman friends. We were having so much fun, running up and down the halls, playing practical jokes on each other and laughing loudly. We didn’t really think about how all that noise might affect others on the same floor. Pam would ask us to be quiet because she was trying to sleep or needed to study. We would stop for a while, but soon we would go back to our usual fun. So, that morning, I was a bit embarrassed to see Pam who came to check on me first. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ She drove me to the city hall, right before the chorus began to perform. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: So, that morning, I was a bit embarrassed to see Pam who came to check on me first. I quickly wiped my tears and tried to explain what had happened, expecting her to shrug it off or maybe even remind me of how inconsiderate I’d been before. But instead, she listened quietly, then surprised me by saying, “Wait here — I’ll get my car keys.” I stared at her in disbelief. “You’d really drive me?” I asked. She nodded with a small smile. “Everyone deserves a second chance,” she said simply. In that moment, I felt a wave of gratitude — and shame — for how I’d treated her before. She drove me to the city hall, right before the chorus began to perform. As we pulled up, I could already hear the warm-up notes echoing through the building. My heart pounded with relief and excitement. Before rushing inside, I turned to Pam and sincerely thanked her — not just for the ride, but for her kindness despite everything. From that day on, our relationship changed completely. We became real friends, and I learned a valuable lesson: respect and empathy go a long way in building meaningful connections. 词汇激活 行为类 ①解释:explain/account for ②冲入:rush/dash ③致谢:thank/express gratitude 情绪类 ①愧疚:shame/remorse ②欣慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】[高分句型1] I quickly wiped my tears and tried to explain what had happened, expecting her to shrug it off or maybe even remind me of how inconsiderate I’d been before.(运用了what引导宾语从句以及现在分词短语作状语和how引导的宾语从句) [高分句型2] As we pulled up, I could already hear the warm-up notes echoing through the building.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句以及现在分词短语作宾补) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 师大附校 2025-2026 学年第一学期高二年级第二次月考试卷 英 语 (考试时间:120 分钟 试卷满分:150 分) 注意事项: 1. 1.How often does the man’s son work at the bookstore? B Tom Fear was driving home on Hutchinson River Parkway last week when he thought he saw a large bag in the roadway. C Getting a high grade in an exam depends partly on how much you can remember. D Not long ago, you had to physically hand over cash to buy something. 12. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
