根据“the college was a little far from...he lived”可知,此处表示“从他住的地方”,需用关系副词where引导宾语从句,在从句中作地点状语。
“found...was easy to escape from buying subway tickets”中,真正宾语是后面的不定式短语,需用it作形式宾语,that和this不能作形式宾语。
“While he...his way to the interview”表示“在去面试的路上”,while引导的从句常用进行时态,且叙述过去的事,应用过去进行时was going。
由“than anything else”可知,应用比较级more“更”,much和most不构成比较级形式。
固定搭配“be honest with sb.”
“practise doing sth.”

___________________________________________________________________________________
Blue whales are one of the largest living animals on the planet.

Exploring Shanghai Greenhouse Garden
Recently, I found a hidden destination that is perfect for both locals and tourists—the Shanghai Greenhouse Garden. It is located in the Shanghai World Expo Culture Park. Since it opened, it has quickly become a popular attraction.

Hall 1: Coastal Oasis

The first hall shows many tropical plants. As I walked through this hall, I was amazed by how many kinds of plants were on display. It feels like entering a small rainforest in the city.
The second hall has a tall waterfall. The green plants make it feel peaceful and cool, as if you are far away from busy city life.
The last hall is perfect for families. On the first floor, there is a children’s water play area. Kids can enjoy playing in the water, which makes it a perfect place for them to cool off and have fun.

A few years ago, my family and I went on a safari in a national park in Africa. On the second day, we ____43____early in the morning to find wild animals. Our guide, Peter, was a very knowledgeable man. He told us to be quiet and to always stay inside the jeep. The wildness of the animals was something we had to respect.
My little brother, Tom, was so excited. He ____44____ his field glasses to see them better. Suddenly, a baby elephant fell into a ditch by the side of the road. Its mother tried to help, but the ditch was too deep. The baby elephant cried loudly.

He didn’t want to act brave anymore and decided to ____47____ the truth about how afraid he had been. He learned a valuable ____48____ about respecting wild animals and their homes that day.

The Tooth Fairy’s Secret
Have you heard of the Tooth Fairy? Here are two passages about it.
Passage 1
The Tooth Fairy is a magical figure of people’s early childhood. It says that when a child loses a baby tooth, if he or she puts it under the bed pillow, the Tooth Fairy will visit while the child sleeps, and change the lost baby tooth for a coin.
People believe it can provide such comfort for a child experiencing fear or pain when they lose a tooth. That’s why the Tooth Fairy tradition is practised in many countries. A 2016 report found that American children receive $3.70 per tooth on average.
However, in another study, upon learning the Tooth Fairy is not real, 75% of the children said that they still liked the tradition, 5% didn’t support it and the others were neutral (中立的).
Passage 2
“Mum, is the Tooth Fairy real?” Emma asked, holding a shiny coin in her hand. Mum looked at her and she knew at once that Emma had seen her put the coin under the pillow last night. “Well... the magic is real. But the Fairy is too busy, so sometimes she uses parents as her helpers.” Mum smiled and said. Emma frowned (皱眉), “But that’s a lie!” Mum said, “Yes, Emma. But I think it’s a white lie. I believe it can provide comfort for you.”

Three themed halls to explore
The garden includes a visitor center and three themed halls. Each hall gives visitors a unique experience.
Hall 1: Coastal Oasis
Hall 2: Cloud Forest
Hall 3: Misty Valley
The first hall shows many tropical plants. As I walked through this hall, I was amazed by how many kinds of plants were on display. It feels like entering a small rainforest in the city.
The second hall has a tall waterfall. The green plants make it feel peaceful and cool, as if you are far away from busy city life.
The last hall is perfect for families. On the first floor, there is a children’s water play area. Kids can enjoy playing in the water, which makes it a perfect place for them to cool off and have fun.
