You must think a computer is the best thing in the world, right? You must think it works at a super speed and can do everything? Well, it’s not! In fact, the brain (大脑) is much more powerful than any super computer! Think about when a glass is just about to fall off the table. Your brain controls everything that you need to do to save that glass from falling. First your eyes check out what’s going on, then tell your brain, and your brain. decides how quickly you need to react, and then your muscles (肌肉) go into action. That is just from your brain. No computer could ever come close to that!
The brain weighs just 3 pounds, but it controls everything you do from thinking, learning, feeling even to breathing and your heart beating. Even though the brain is just 2% of your body weight, it uses around 20% of all your energy in your body. That is a lot for such a small organ (器官). There are about 100 billion tiny (微小的) little cells (细胞) in your brain. There are so many that it would take you over 3,000 years to count them all!
Your brain stops growing when you’re 18, but it actually keeps on developing and learning new things. So your parents are really super smart! You won’t be able to fool them! Believe it or not. your brain NEVER stops working. Even during sleeping, the brain works for long-term memory establishment (建立). It is realized that the brain is the second organ in the body as the heart that never stops during human lives.
So everyone should be proud of such a gift of nature.

People often say that the world is getting smaller. By this, they mean that with improved communications and trade, each country is becoming more and more familiar with one another.
There seems to be a lot of truth to this. After all, you can buy African food in Norway, or watch a French movie in China.
But in spite of this, countries still have the power to shock people who visit them for the first time. For many of us, there are still real differences in the culture and habits between nations.
Recently, the Daily Mail reported on some culture shocks from around the world. A Serbian student, Milorad Boti, was highly surprised on a school trip to Germany when he found that public bathrooms were very different to those in his home country. He noticed that after using the toilet, the lid (盖子) rotated (旋转) as part of a cleaning process. Milorad was impressed. “That was the best thing that happened on that school trip,” he said.
Most often, however, it’s eating habits that are different between cultures. The Daily Mail article mentioned the shock of an Indian man, Kaushal Braot. When visiting a Western country, he noticed people socializing (交往) in restaurants, often spending hours in them with friends. Kaushal was surprised because in India, restaurants are for one thing only: eating.
The cultural differences people notice can seem positive, negative, simply or strange. But rather than something to be feared, these differences should be welcomed. Indeed, if the whole world were like one big country, it would be a much duller place. So let’s be proud of our own culture, and at the same time, open to the cultures of others.
71.What differences still exist though each country is becoming more and more familiar with one another?
A.Delicious food. B.Exciting movies.
C.Culture and habits. D.Games and sports.
72.The world is getting smaller because of ______.
A.African food in Norway B.French movies in China
C.improved communications and trade D.differences in culture
73.In a western country’s restaurant, you can do the following things EXCEPT ______.
A.having a dinner with your friends B.having a sleep in the restaurant
C.chatting with your friends D.sharing a book with your friends
74.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.The world will become one big country.
B.Cultural differences make people feared.
C.Chinese culture is the best one in the world.
D.We should love our own culture and respect others’.
75.Milorad Boti’s and Kaushal Barot’s stories are mentioned to ______.
A.support the writer’s opinion B.make the article interesting
C.make the article logical D.introduce the topic
第二节:判断 (共5小题;每小题1分,满分5分)

Renewable energy comes from natural things that can be filled up again, like the sun, wind, water, and heat from the earth. Let’s start with solar power. In recent years, the global solar power capacity has been growing rapidly. By the end of 2023, it reached over 1,000 gigawatts, which shows its increasing importance. We use special panels to turn sunlight into electricity. You can see these panels on top of some houses or in big fields in sunny places. They are a clean way to get power.
Wind energy is another important one. Currently, there are more than 700,000 wind turbines (涡轮) operating worldwide. When the wind blows, the blades turn. This movement changes the wind’s energy into electricity. Many countries are building these turbines in different areas.
Hydropower (水力发电) is made by using the force of moving water, often with dams. It has been used for a long time and accounts for about 16% of the world’s electricity generation. The water flows through and makes machines work to produce electricity.
Geothermal energy (地热能) uses the heat that comes from deep inside the earth. In some geothermal power plants, the temperature of the underground water can reach as high as 300 degrees Celsius, which is then used to generate electricity.
Renewable energy is really good because it helps us use less of the old fuels like coal and oil that are running out and also cause pollution. It gives us a better and cleaner way to get the energy we need for our lives.
76.Solar power capacity was more than 10,000 gigawatts by the end of 2023.
77.Wind turbines use the wind’s energy to make electricity.
78.Hydropower is produced by running water.
79.Geothermal energy comes from the sun.
80.Renewable energy is the most widely used energy source in the world.

In world-famous photographer Li Shaobai’s words, “The picture is silent, but it’s also powerful.” How did Gong make it? “I just saw the weed and found it lonely and helpless,” said Gong.
Gong learned photography from his father, a photographer working for Hunan TV. Since the age of 4, he has been following his father to learn to take pictures.
Gong is a patient photographer. When he views something valuable, he can spend hours waiting for the perfect time for the picture. Compared with beautiful sights, the young photographer is paying more attention to social topic. In Gong’s pictures of Liuyang River, hundreds of dead fish show us the deadly results of pollution.

第二节:判断 (共5小题;每小题1分,满分5分)
请根据下面的短文内容判断下列句子,如果正确就选"T",如果错误就选"F",如果文中没有提到就选"N"。
