Passage B
Our class once had a problem with lost things. Pencils, rulers and lunch cards often disappeared for a day or two. Most of them were later found under desks or beside the window, but students still felt worried. The monitor suggested making a “quiet list” on the back board.
The rule was simple. Anyone who found an item wrote its name, place and time on the list. The finder did not need to ask loudly around the room. The owner could check the list during breaks and collect the item from a small box near the board.
On the first day, the list had only two lines. By Friday, it had helped return eight items, including a blue ruler and a lunch card. More importantly, the classroom became calmer(更平静的). Students no longer stopped lessons to ask about small things.
The list also taught us to describe things clearly. Instead of writing “a pen”, we wrote “a black pen with a silver top”. Clear words saved time and avoided mistakes(错误).
After two weeks, fewer things were lost. We learned that good order does not always need strict rules. Sometimes, a quiet method and careful words can make daily life easier for everyone.
26. What problem did the class have?
A. Students were often late.
B. The classroom was too small.
C. Lessons were too difficult.
D. Things were often lost.
27. Where was the quiet list?
A. Near the school gate.
B. On the back board.
C. In the dining hall.
D. Beside the teacher’s office.
28. What information should be written on the list?
A. The item’s name, place and time.
B. The owner’s phone number.
C. The price of the item.
D. The finder’s seat number.
29. How did the classroom change by Friday?
A. It became noisier.
B. It became darker.
C. It became calmer.
D. It became larger.
30. What did students learn from the list?
A. Strict rules are always needed.
B. Small things are not important.
C. Everyone should buy more pens.
D. Careful words can make life easier.
