LEAD IN
When do we use the passive voice?
My bike was stolen yesterday.(不知道小偷是谁,不用 by)
A lot of trees are planted every spring.
Passive: A new rocket will be launched.
Exoplanets have been discovered.
It is said that… It is thought that…

For a long time, scientists have known that the universe ________ (fill) with stars. In more recent times, however, thousands of “exoplanets” have also been ______________ (discover). These are planets that ______ (move) around stars—just like in our own solar system. So far, more than 5,000 exoplanets __________________ (know) to us, and as technology improves, many more _______________ (find). Some exoplanets are similar to Earth. They are of a similar size and temperature, and they might have water. Scientists are excited about this. It ____________ (think) that if there is water, there might also be alien life!
is filled
discovered
move
have been known
will be found
is thought
/ˈeksəʊplænɪt/ n.
/ˈsəʊlə(r)/ adj.
What are exoplanets?
Exoplanets are planets that move around stars outside our solar system. They do not go around the Sun. Scientists have found thousands of them so far, and some are similar to Earth in size and temperature.
What are your views on finding life on another planet?
I think it is possible to find life on other exoplanets. First, many planets have water and proper temperature, which are basic conditions for living things. However, it will take a very long time and high technology to find alien life. We should keep exploring space with scientific methods.
/ˈeksəʊplænɪt/ n.

Active: We will build a station.
Passive: A station will be built (by us).
现在完成时被动:have/has been done
thousands of exoplanets have been discovered

2.固定句型:It is thought that…
