Last summer, my family visited a small fishing village in Norway called Reine. It lies in the Lofoten Islands, far away from any big cities. The village has only about 300 people, 71 it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
We stayed in a red wooden house by the sea. 72 house was much smaller than our home in the city, but very comfortable. From 73 window, we could see tall mountains and clean blue water. The air smelled fresh and salty. During the day, we went hiking in the mountains. The climb was a little difficult, but we were happy when we saw the beautiful view from the top. We saw eagles (鹰) 74 high above us. One afternoon, we went fishing with a local fisherman. He taught us 75 to catch fish. Everything about the fishing experience 76 new and exciting. 77 the evening, the sun never really set. The “midnight sun” made the sky look orange all night. We would sit outside and watch the amazing light. Sometimes we made a campfire on the beach and cooked the fish we caught. The people in the village were very kind and friendly. 78 knew each other and welcomed us warmly. We tried some local food, including dried fish and special cheese. The cheese tasted 79 stronger than what we usually eat.
This trip shows me you don’t need to go to big cities or famous sights to have a wonderful vacation. Sometimes the quietest places can also bring the 80 memories.

Good morning, my dear fellows. I am happy to see all of 11 classmates come back to school. I would like to share my holiday life with you. This summer holiday, I 12 most of my time playing, like watching films, playing games, travelling with my parents and so on. The most 13 thing is to visit the Great Wall with my family. The Great Wall is one of the greatest wonders in the world. It attracts thousands of tourists both at home and 14 every day.
15 two hours of climbing, we got to the top at last where I enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and took a lot of photos. I felt really proud and thought of the famous 16 , “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man.” Also, I paid attention 17 my studies. For example, I watched some educational TV programs, so that I could both have fun and learn 18 at the same time. And I got up early to do some morning reading 19 my English. Of course, I finished my summer exercises all by 20 on time. In short, my summer holiday is colourful and meaningful. How about your life during the summer holiday?

Last month, my family and I traveled to Egypt. We had a(n) 21 time there.
First, we visited the Great Pyramids (金字塔). Ancient people built them 22 their kings. When a king 23 , people put him inside a pyramid. They believed that the king would live 24 new life in a pyramid. They also put many of the king’s things in the pyramid 25 they thought the king would need them in his new life.
Next, we went 26 the Sphinx (狮身人面像). It has the body of a lion and the head of one of the kings of Egypt. I felt sorry for the Sphinx because 27 face was broken and it was not as beautiful as it was a long time ago. In Greek mythology (神话), people believed that the Sphinx protected their city by asking visitors a riddle (谜语). If the visitor 28 give the right answer to the riddle, they could enter the city.
Finally, we tried to read the ancient language of Egypt. We couldn’t understand it 29 . The language was made of some small pictures. 30 could understand these pictures until an Englishman and a Frenchman learned how to read them about 200 years ago.

Dear Dad and Mom,
The weather in Australia is much warmer than at home, and we have stayed here for three days. We’re really having 31 wonderful time. Australia is one of 32 countries in the world with many unique animals. There is so much to see that it’s impossible 33 me to tell you everything.
We’re staying in a small hotel near a quiet park. 34 window faces a street with a nice city view. Every morning we wake up to birds singing. There are many tall 35 and lovely parrots in the park. We often walk there after breakfast and sometimes feed them bread. The most enjoyable thing is to watch kangaroos 36 on the grass early in the morning.
We 37 the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge recently. The Opera House looks like big white shells. I want to visit the local museum next, 38 my friends prefer going to the beach in Brisbane first. They say the beach has the softest sand and the cleanest water with small fish. So we’re going to 39 there tomorrow.
Now we’re busy 40 our bags for the trip. I’ve packed my sunscreen and hat—Mom, you were right to remind me! I’ll send more photos from Brisbane.
Much love,
Tim

Nowadays, many teenagers spend too much time looking at screens during holidays. To get away from the busy city life, my family decided to try a new kind of holiday last month—digital detox (数字排毒) in a small village.
When we first arrived, there was 41 wrong with our phones because of the bad signal (信号). My brother couldn’t even play his favorite mobile games! At first, he felt quite bored and didn’t know what to do by 42 . However, things changed quickly. We spent our mornings exploring the beautiful nature. The air in the countryside was so fresh that it made us feel 43 .
In the afternoon, we helped the local farmers pick tea leaves. It was hard work, but it taught us an important lesson: nothing is impossible if you try your best. In the evening, instead of watching videos online, we sat around the fire and shared interesting stories. Everyone laughed happily.
We also learned how to cook some special dishes by ourselves. The food tasted 44 than anything we had in the city restaurants! Before we left, we decided 45 there again next year. 46 we didn’t have any mobile phones, we still had a wonderful time with our family members.
The local farmers worked hard all day and 47 taught us how to plant vegetables correctly. We got up early the next morning and 48 a walk along the river. My brother tried to cook the fish by himself, but he 49 it badly.
— How was your “digital detox” holiday in the end?

Last month, I 61 to London with my mum and dad. Firstly, I had a picture in my head of Big Ben, cute taxis, the River Thames and so on.
London is as 62 as I know it! As soon as I got off the train into St. Pancras Station, I found I was in heaven. You 63 see lots of people from every culture. The taxi drivers spoke 64 this city’s English, which was almost like 65 language. And 66 many “old” London taxis, just like the ones you see in the films.
I found the people to be really friendly, for the most part. 67 the city was clean and exciting. I saw 68 show and it 69 popular in the country. I took many pictures of the interesting places. Many people like going on holiday. It’s a good chance to relax, visit new places and see new things. But while 71 a trip, you have to decide whether you want to travel with family or friends, or just alone.
Traveling with family can be very cheap or even free if parents 72 . However, there 73 be many arguments (争吵). One friend told me that both she and her sister 74 in tears after arguing on holiday. In my own family, Dad always wants to go to a museum. Mom would like 75 in the hotel. My sister likes to buy clothes. As for me, the coffee shop is a great place.
It would be fun to travel with friends. When you are traveling with friends, you do more different things than you do with family. It is a way to strengthen (加强) a friendship. You can learn more about your friends. You can become 76 to each other. But money always plays an important role if you travel with your friends. 77 is normal for you to have different budgets (预算). Besides, there is a lot of compromise (妥协) when you’re choosing where to stay and what to eat.
When it comes to choosing whom to travel with, there is 78 choice: traveling alone. Traveling alone has advantages (优点) over traveling with other people. For example, you 79 compromise on your budget. However, 80 you may feel lonely and bored. And, when you want to go to the toilet at the bus station or airport, there is nobody to look after your things.
