Pre-writing
3a
Read the presentation script for a history exhibition at school. Find out what historical object or site is introduced.
Hello, everyone! I’d like to present to you a historical site from the Mayan civilization. Maybe you’ve heard about the Egyptian pyramids, but the Mayan people also built hundreds of pyramids throughout Central America from about 1,000 BCE to 1,500 CE. Here you can see the most famous example —— the Pyramid of Kukulkan.
For the Mayans, Kukulkan was a snake god. Twice a year, when the day and night are in balance, the setting sun creates a strange shadow on one side of the pyramid. This shadow looks like the shape of a snake crawling down the steps. Interestingly, the building has a total of 365 steps. The Mayans could have built this to show the number of days in the solar year.
There’s also another interesting fact about the pyramid. Inside there are two more pyramids. The Mayans must have built each pyramid on top pf the other over a long period of time. Isn’t that amazing?
So, form the Pyramid of Kukulkan, we can learn a lot about the ancient Mayan civilization. That’s all! Thank you!
This presentation script introduces the Pyramid of Kukulkan.

Imagine you are taking part in the exhibition. Choose a historical object or site you like, and write a presentation script about it.
Hello, everyone!
Today I'd like to introduce a world-famous historical site – the Great Wall of China. Maybe you've seen pictures of it, but do you know how long it really is? The total length of all its sections is over 21,000 kilometers, which makes it the longest wall in the world.
The Great Wall was built over many dynasties, mainly from the 7th century BCE to the 16th century CE. Its main purpose was to protect Chinese states from invasions. But it wasn't just a wall – it also had watchtowers, beacon towers, and barracks for soldiers.
3c
Imagine you are taking part in the exhibition. Choose a historical object or site you like, and write a presentation script about it.
One interesting fact is that the wall is not a single continuous line. It has many branches and was built according to the mountain ridges, which made it harder for enemies to attack. Also, legend says that the mortar used was made with sticky rice – that's why it's so strong!
Another amazing thing is that you can see the Great Wall from space, though not with the naked eye – but astronauts have confirmed it's visible under certain conditions.
From the Great Wall, we can learn about the wisdom and hard work of ancient Chinese people. That's all! Thank you!
