Part 1
Last term, our school held a talent show, and my best friend Tom decided to perform a comedy routine. He had always dreamed of becoming a comedian, because he believed that to entertain people is one of the most valuable skills in life. He had prepared a set of funny stories about our school life, each joke carefully chosen to lighten the mood of the tired students. His basic concept was simple: make people laugh, and they will remember you. Backstage, I could spot the nervous shake of his hands, but he kept saying that he had to impress everyone with his first joke. He had practised so hard that he felt he deserved this chance.
The first minute was terrible. Someone in the front row began to whisper that the show was boring, and a few people even laughed at him cruelly. Tom almost walked off the stage, but then he told one joke about our maths teacher, and the whole hall exploded with laughter. From that moment on, he found that true humour is not a complicated skill; it is simply honest interaction with the audience. As he walked off to loud applause, he concluded that laughter was the most essential medicine in the world. The judges were so impressed that they gave him the first prize, and everyone agreed that he truly deserved it.

Part 7
Every teacher wants to impress their students, but few do it as memorably as Mr Wang, our physics teacher. He has a strange belief: a classroom that laughs remembers better. His favourite way to entertain us is to act out the laws of physics with his own body. When we were learning about gravity, he climbed onto his chair, shouted “Watch this!” and dropped a piece of chalk to the floor. “See? Every time,” he said with a wide grin. His simple concept is that if learning is fun, the mood of the whole class lifts, and nobody falls asleep. Even the students at the back, who usually prefer to spot their phones under the desk, look up and laugh. Once, he even pretended to be a falling apple when we studied Newton, and the whole class cried with laughter.
Of course, not every joke works, and Mr Wang accepts that cheerfully. Sometimes a student will whisper to a neighbour that the joke is silly, and a few classmates may even laugh at him cruelly. He never gets angry. “A failed joke is just a failed experiment,” he explains, and that line alone is worth more than a whole textbook. He has certainly learned to conclude that humour is the fastest bridge between a teacher and his students, and he believes that every student deserves a lesson they will actually remember ten years from now.
What makes his classes special is not a complicated teaching method. It is simple, honest interaction: he asks real questions, listens to real answers and laughs at real jokes, even when the joke is about him. In his view, humour is essential to learning, because a student who laughs is a student who is awake. By the end of the term, our whole class could solve problems we had once feared, and we had come to believe that the most important lesson Mr Wang ever taught us was not physics at all, but the art of enjoying the journey of learning itself. Years later, whenever old classmates meet, someone still tells one of his jokes, and we all laugh again.
1. How does Mr Wang usually start his lessons?
A. By acting out physics laws in a funny way.
B. By asking students to read the textbook aloud.
C. By giving a long test at the beginning of class.
D. By checking everyone's homework one by one.
2. What does Mr Wang think of a joke that fails?
A. He feels ashamed and stops telling jokes.
B. He treats it like a failed experiment.
C. He punishes the students who laughed.
D. He asks the class to explain the joke.
3. What is the secret of Mr Wang's classes according to the passage?
A. A complicated teaching method.
B. A huge amount of homework.
C. Simple, honest interaction with students.
D. Strict rules about classroom behaviour.
4. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Physics is the most difficult subject at school.
B. Students should never laugh in class.
C. Teachers should give more tests to students.
D. Humour can make learning more enjoyable and lasting.
答案:1.A 2.B 3.C 4.D
第1题(细节理解题·高考高频):首段明确交代王老师的上课方式——"His favourite way to entertain us is to act out the laws of physics with his own body",他最喜欢用身体表演物理定律来逗我们开心,与A项By acting out physics laws in a funny way对应,故选A。
第2题(细节理解题·高考核心):第二段是解题句——"A failed joke is just a failed experiment, he explains",王老师把失败的玩笑看作一次失败的实验,与B项He treats it like a failed experiment吻合,故选B。
第3题(细节理解题·高考核心):第三段直接点明课堂秘诀——"What makes his classes special is not a complicated teaching method. It is simple, honest interaction",让课堂特别的不是复杂的教学方法,而是简单真诚的互动,与C项Simple, honest interaction with students一致,故选C。A项"复杂的教学方法"与原文"not a complicated teaching method"相悖;B、D两项无中生有。
第4题(主旨大意题·高考压轴):全文以王老师的幽默教学为线索:用身体表演逗乐学生、把失败的笑话当实验、通过真诚互动让学生爱上学习,末段点明主旨——"humour is essential to learning, because a student who laughs is a student who is awake",幽默让学习更愉快更难忘,与D项Humour can make learning more enjoyable and lasting吻合,故选D。
