Plan A vs Plan B In a group of experiments from the University of Pennsylvania, researchers found that when volunteers thought about another plan before starting a task, they did worse than those who hadn’t thought about a Plan B.Besides, when they realized they had choices, their motivation for succeeding at the first time dropped. The researchers point out that thinking ahead is a good idea, but you might be more successful if you keep those plans unclear. Always Find a Problem Why does another problem appear, when one problem is solved? It’s not that the world is against you—but your brain might be. Researchers asked volunteers to pick out people who have a threatening (有威胁的) look from faces on a computer. “As we started to show people fewer and fewer threatening faces, they increase their meaning of ‘threatening’ to include more faces,” writes researcher David Levari, PhD.“In other words, when they didn’t have threatening faces to find, they started to think of faces that they used to call harmless as threatening ones.” Food Tastes Better Why does that sandwich from the takeout place down the street taste better than the ones you make at home, even if you use the same ingredients (原料)? One study in the magazine Science found that when you make yourself a meal, you’re around it so long that it feels less exciting by the time you actually eat it — and that, as a result, decreases your enjoyment. That’s why even your neighbor’s sandwich tastes better! 61.If we want to succeed at our first try, what had we better do? A.Just think ahead. B.Come up with more clear plans. C.Get plenty of choices. D.Work hard at Plan A. 62.What does the underlined word “motivation” mean? A.Drive. B.Prize. C.Praise. D.Management 63.What can we learn from the passage? A.We can not understand human nature. B.We always need a clear Plan B. C.Our brain may create problems for us. D.Cooks in restaurants are better than us. 64.How does the writer explain the idea “Food Tastes Better” in the text ? A.By making a survey. B.By using an old saying. C.By listing an example. D.By telling a story. 65.What is the passage mainly about? A.How to do psychology experiments. B.Psychology explanations for human nature. C.Famous psychology researchers. D.What common psychology problems are. 根据第二段“In a group of experiments from the University of Pennsylvania, researchers found that when volunteers thought about another plan before starting a task, they did worse than those who hadn’t thought about a Plan B. ...The researchers point out that thinking ahead is a good idea, but you might be more successful if you keep those plans unclear. 根据第二段“Besides, when they realized they had choices, their motivation for succeeding at the first time dropped. (此外,当他们意识到自己有选择时,他们第一次成功的动力就会下降。)”可知,当人们意识到有更多选择时,首次成功的“motivation”下降,结合语境,这里“motivation”应该是指成功的动力、驱动力,与drive意思相同,故选A。 63.细节理解题。根据第三段“It’s not that the world is against you—but your brain might be. Researchers asked volunteers to pick out people who have a threatening (有威胁的) look from faces on a computer... they started to think of faces that they used to call harmless as threatening ones. (并不是全世界都在反对你,而是你的大脑可能反对你。研究人员要求志愿者从电脑上的面孔中挑选出具有威胁性表情的人……他们开始将过去认为无害的面孔视为威胁性面孔。)”可知,大脑会在没有威胁面孔可找时,把原本无害的面孔视为有威胁,说明大脑会制造问题。故选C。 64.推理判断题。根据第四段“One study in the magazine Science found that when you make yourself a meal, you’re around it so long that it feels less exciting by the time you actually eat it — and that, as a result, decreases your enjoyment. (《科学》杂志上的一项研究发现,当你自己做一顿饭时,你会花很长时间在它周围,以至于当你真正吃它时,你会感觉不那么兴奋——结果,这会降低你的享受。)”并以自己做的三明治和外卖三明治为例,说明为什么外卖三明治感觉更好吃,所以是通过列举例子来解释。故选C。 65.主旨大意题。通读全文可知,文章开头“Psychology (心理学) is important in explaining human nature — and it gives reasons for a few of the situations you notice in yourself and others. (心理学对于解释人性很重要,它为你在自己和他人身上注意到的一些情况提供了原因。)”就点明了心理学对解释人性很重要,后面分别从 Plan A 与 Plan B、总是找问题、食物更好吃等几个方面用心理学知识进行解释,所以文章主要是关于心理学对人性的解释。故选B。 (B) Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher. If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship. you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve anything. Communication begins with the concerns of another. It means that you can’t just come home from school, go up to your room and ignore everyone. Even if you just say “Hi”, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing. If you looked up the word “communication” in a dictionary, it would say “the exchange of ideas, the conveyance (表达) of information, correspondence (通信), means of communication: a letter or a message”. To maintain a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it’s just by writing a note. When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you’ll listen to what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the situation worse. This is an example: one night, Sophi e went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn’t feel she could just ask to go home. That would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, not when Sophic explained why she was late, they weren’t as mad and let the incident go. Communication is the key factor here. If Sophie’s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophi e would have been in a lot of trouble. Communication isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, telling the other person how you feel-listening is the key factor to communication. 66.In the writer’s view, dealing with parents is __________ than with children. A.more difficult B.easier C.more uninteresting D.more interesting 67.The main idea of the second paragraph is __________. A.the importance of friendship B.to make your feeling known to others C.the importance of communication D.the disagreement between generations 68.When parents and children are in communication, the key to a happy relationship is that__________. A.children should always obey their parents B.they should be equal C.parents play the leading part D.both make the opposite know their feelings 69.The example in this passage proves that __________. A.Sophie’s parents are willing to listen to her B.Sophie is very polite to her parents C.Sophie did well in explaining her being late D.communication is the solution to misunderstanding 70.All the following statements are correct except “__________”. A.If you don’t agree with others, you’d better let them know B.It is better to say “Hi” to others than say nothing C.If you are not able to communicate, walk away D.Communication is a two-way deal 【答案】66.A 67.C 68.D 69.D 70.C 【导语】这是一篇议论文。 根据第一段“Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher. (如今,与孩子们一起生活相处可能是一件棘手的事,但与父母一起生活相处可能更棘手。)”可知,在作者看来,与父母相处比与孩子相处更难。故选A。 67. 根据第二段“With any relationship. you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve anything. (在任何关系中,都需要让对方知道自己的感受,如果不沟通,关系就会疏远。当对父母或其他人生气时,不和他们说话并不能解决问题。)”可知,第二段主语介绍沟通的重要性。故选C。 68.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Communication isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, telling the other person how you feel-listening is the key factor to communication. (沟通绝非单向行为,而是双向互动的过程。切记:若你身处类似苏菲的处境,既要向对方坦诚自己的感受,也要用心倾听——这才是有效沟通的核心要义。)”可知,文中强调沟通是双向的。这意味着在亲子沟通中,双方都要让对方知道自己的感受,这样才能维持良好的关系。故选D。 69.推理判断题。根据第六段“This is an example: one night, Sophi e went to a street party with her friends. 根据第二段“it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship. you need to let other person know how you are feeling. (关键在于,沟通在任何关系中都至关重要——无论双方存在分歧还是相处融洽。任何情感关系的维系都需要向对方坦诚自己的真实感受。)”可知,如果你不同意其他人,你最好让他们知道;根据“Even if you just say “Hi”, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing. (哪怕只是简单问候一句“你好”,花五分钟倾听对方讲述日常点滴,也比冷漠疏离强上百倍。)”,可知向别人打招呼总比什么都不说要好;根据“Communication isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both way. (沟通绝非单向行为,而是需要双向互动的过程。)”,可知沟通是双向的,没有提及到C选项“If you are not able to communicate, walk away. (如果你无法沟通,就走开。)”故选C。 (C) Bamboo is one of nature’s most surprising plants. Many people call this plant a tree, but it is a kind of grass. Like other kinds of grass, a bamboo plant may be cut very low to the ground, but it will grow back very quickly. 故选A。 74. 根据最后一段“Bamboo pipes help poor farmers bring water to their thirsty fields without spending a lot of money.(竹管帮助贫困农民把水源源不断地输送到干渴的田地里,而无需花费大量资金。)” 根据第五段“Many Asian countries have used bamboo for hundreds of years. (B) Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher.
