“can’t wait to do sth.”
Also也(副词);D. 根据“Everybody couldn’t wait … the secret of his great achievements. … he only said with a smile, “Won’t it be better for me to ask for your help on a certain problem?”
根据“by a river in front of it (被前面的一条河)”以及“They had to cross the river if they wanted to get to the gold mine. 故选A。
“How about doing sth.”
A. because因为(引导原因状语从句);B. so所以(表因果关系,后接结果);C. until直到(引导时间状语从句);D. before在…… “There was gold across from the bank. 是“They would like to pay for the ferry (他们愿意为乘渡船(这件事)付费。)” 故选A。
A. of……的(表示所属关系等);B. to对于,到(“the key to...” 根据固定搭配“the key to... (……

Manners and customs are different all over the world, so you should pay special attention when you are abroad.
In China, friends can pat each other on the shoulder and touch any child they like. But in Mediterranean countries, if you don’t touch someone’s arm when talking to them or if you don’t greet them with kisses or a warm embrace (拥抱), you’ll be considered cold. But patting someone on the back who isn’t a family member or a good friend in Korea, and you’ll make them uncomfortable. In Thailand, the head is considered sacred (神圣的) — never even pat a child on the head.
Chinese people always think it’s very impolite to blow your nose in public-especially at the table. The Japanese hate it even more. In public places in Japan, such as subway and shopping malls, it is a no-no to blow your nose. If you have to blow your nose, you can only go to the toilet. At the same time, the Japanese are disgusted (厌恶的) with using handkerchiefs.
It’s unpopular to talk while eating in China. Also in some African countries, the food’s the thing, so don’t start chatting about your day’s adventures (奇遇) while everyone else is enjoying the nice meal. You’ll probably be met with silence — not because your group is unfriendly, but because mealtimes are for eating, not talking

The 2025 Hunan City Soccer League, popularly known as the “Xiangchao”, concluded on Saturday evening with an exciting final (决赛) at the Helong Sports Center in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province.
With 43,695 audiences watching the final, the Yongzhou team defeated the Changde team 1-0, winning the champion. This soccer league showed the grassroots sporting spirit and boosted the province’s economy.
Yongzhou’s journey to championship glory began at a site which local people called the “wild pitch” — the city’s shabby, decades-old stadium. Although the stadium had a two-month repairing before the league began to meet the basic standards, several early matches were played while repair work was still ongoing. However, the facilities did not stop the passion of Yongzhou’s players and fans. Facing limited seating capacity, local organizers followed fans’ advice and creatively introduced “tree tickets” and “brick tickets”.
In the quarterfinals two weeks before, when the Yongzhou team played an away game, more than 30,000 fans packed their home stadium to watch the match via live broadcast. After the team won the game, the fans rushed to the streets for a citywide celebration.
These scenes, widely shared on social media, drew international attention, with netizens abroad describing the support as “what every team dreams of”. “We have the best fans,” said Yongzhou striker Gao Xiang, 19, who is a student majoring in sports science at Central South University in Changsha, received the Best Player of the League title during Saturday’s award ceremony as well.
According to data from the provincial government, the league attracted more than 2.2 million stadium audiences and over 60 million visitors to the host cities, generating more than 12.1 billion yuan in related consumption income across different sectors, including tourism, catering, accommodation and entertainment.

Yang Jun’ao, a 16-year-old student from Nanxian County, Hunan Province, invented a “lotus root harvesting robot (采藕机器人)”.
“I got the idea when I saw my grandmother harvesting lotus roots,” Yang said. His grandmother needed to work very hard under the hot sun and sometimes would badly hurt her fingers when using her harvesting tools.
To make things easier for his grandmother, Yang thought of creating a machine that could automatically (自动地) harvest lotus roots. With the help of his teacher, Yang spent nearly a year building the model of the robot.
The robot moves on its own through the muddy field. It uses image recognition (图像识别) to find roots by looking at the color of the lotus leaves. The machine’s arm then cuts the mature (成熟的) lotus roots.
When Yang showed the machine to his grandmother, she was happy and gave some useful suggestions for improvement. She suggested using the audio player to show the robot’s location in dense (稠密的) lotus leaves. “My grandmother’s suggestion reminded me that any invention must have true value.” said Yang.
Although Yang thought he still needed to make improvements, like finding cheaper ways to make the machines, his spirit was praised by many people. Must-Sees in China
The Li River
The karst landscape (喀斯特地貌) along the Li River has attracted the hearts of artists. Generations of Chinese painters and poets have been inspired by the beauty of nature there, using their pens and brushes to describe the breathtaking natural scenery. Nowadays, it’s a popular place for photography. When Chinese travelers seek a place for natural beauty, they first think of the Li River.
The Giant Panda
Although there are many zoos in China and elsewhere, where you can see giant pandas, the best place to see them is Chengdu — the giant panda’s “hometown”. You can get even closer to the pandas by taking a volunteer program in the Bifengxia or Dujiangyan Panda Base.
The Mogao Caves
The Mogao Caves are famous for their wonderful murals (壁画) and Buddhist statues. The Mogao Caves were included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage Site List in 1987. Artists from different periods left their work there. All kinds of works spanning (横跨) over one thousand years complement (补充) each other. Standing out in the desert, the Mogao Caves are like a glittering pearl that decorates the Silk Road.
The Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve
The Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve is called “the last pure land on earth” and “the last Shangri-La” due to its breathtaking natural scenery. As early as 1928, the Austrian-American explorer Joseph F. Rock visited Daocheng and described its beauty, making it known to the world.

Thumbs up is the most common gesture in China. It usually shows not only praise and approval (赞成),but also thanks. But in Greece and Russia, thumbing up is regarded as quite impolite. It is considered almost as rude as swearing (咒骂).

His teacher once spoke highly of Yang, “He is a boy who always thinks creatively. Whenever he comes across problems in life, he always works hard to solve them.”
