One of China’s most famous national literature prizes, the 9th Lu Xun Literary Prize, showed its final winners on July 15. Among them was 56‑year‑old Wang Jibing from Jiangsu Province. He works as a food delivery man, and he won the poetry prize for his book Low Flight. People were greatly surprised, for his busy front‑line job was so different from this high‑level literary honor.
Wang began to try writing back in 1988. At first, he wrote short stories and articles. He did not finish his very first poem until 2009. Slowly, he put nearly all his creative energy into writing poems. For many years, he did different tiring physical jobs, such as building work. In 2018, when he was almost 50, he started to work full‑time as a delivery rider. When he rushed from one order to the next, he caught every little free time to write down his thoughts. He has kept writing for over 30 years, and he has written close to 6,000 poems in all.
In order to finish Low Flight, Wang talked face‑to‑face with over 140 other delivery riders. Besides, he sent questionnaires to another 60 riders to collect their real experiences. The poems use simple but true words. They paint a clear picture of delivery workers’ inner thoughts and show the strong spirit and hope behind their tiring everyday work. One of his well‑known sentences, “Flying low is also flying”, expresses the central idea of this book: the hard‑won efforts of common people are valuable steps on the road toward their personal dreams.
Even after receiving this important literary prize, Wang will not give up his delivery job before he reaches the official retirement age. He really enjoys this lively job because it gives him new ideas for writing. For him, the prize is just a form of praise. It is not a good reason for him to change his simple everyday life. He wishes the public could know more about delivery workers and build better understanding among different groups of people in society.
Wang’s success changes how many people think about literary writing. Many used to believe that meaningful literature could only come from scholars or full‑time writers, but his story breaks this old opinion. Stories coming from real working lives can touch people’s hearts deeply. Wang’s experience tells us that as long as ordinary people watch life carefully and keep their love for creation, they can produce moving literary works and win respect across the whole country.

It has been twentyfive years since the worldfamous movie Shaolin Soccer came out. Now Stephen Chow brings us his new work Kung Fu Soccer. This sports comedy has quickly become one big hit in China’s summer movie market of 2026. However, it is more than just a funny movie for killing time. As many people have waited for this film for a long time, its story focuses on a female team that is not expected to win. It mixes traditional Chinese kungfu with exciting football games, and for these reasons, the whole country is discussing it, though different viewers hold quite different feelings toward it.
After keeping away from fulllength movies for seven years, Stephen Chow both wrote the story and directed this new film. Finally, it showed in Chinese cinemas on July 11. A group of wellknown actors take on the key roles in this story. Zhang Xiaofei acts as Shuangshuang, the captain of the Emei Team. Dilraba Dilmurat plays their best forward, while Lay Zhang works as their coach who teaches them kungfu game skills. To make the football games look as real as possible, the film makers made a special choice. Thirtyseven retired Chinese women football players joined in the shooting of those live match scenes.
What makes the story moving? It centers on the Emei Team. Each woman on this team carries troubles and pressure from reallife difficulties, yet they pull together to fight for the Supreme Invincible Cup. They cleverly put Emei kungfu moves into their football skills and manage to beat strong teams from several foreign countries. When they meet the Pear Blossom Team in the final game, trouble still hangs over them. They sort out their disagreements inside the team and fight against unfair fouls from their opponents. In the end, they try their best and win the big championship.
Why has this film drawn so much public attention? It has two clear strong points. For one thing, it beautifully puts wonderful kungfu action together with the theme that women should believe in themselves and grow stronger. Nearly half of the money for moviemaking went into more than 1,200 specialeffect pictures. Thanks to this huge investment, audiences can enjoy amazing action scenes on screen. Besides that, the movie passes on old Eastern wisdom — soft power can beat great strength. This special idea touches the hearts of family watchers as well as those longtime fans of Stephen Chow across different ages.
Even though the movie has achieved great success at the box office, opinions from viewers and critics are far from the same. It made 260 million yuan on its first day and reached over 1 billion yuan only six days after it opened in cinemas. On Douban, it gets 6.6 points out of 10. Some critics point out its weak story and repeated funny moments. On the other side, common audience members love its light and encouraging mood. As you might expect, plenty of famous stars also speak highly of this film on the Internet.
There is more to this movie than exciting games and funny moments. Under those lively scenes, it tells us a meaningful lesson: ordinary people should stick to their dreams even when life throws hard trouble in their way. By mixing traditional Chinese culture with stories of women’s growth, this kungfu sports comedy stands out among all the summer films and leaves viewers lots to think about.

On June 18, guided by the Ministry of Commerce, seven other central government departments worked together to publish a new action guide. This is part of the national plan to bring artificial intelligence into people’s everyday life. In all, the guide includes 17 practical measures for five key fields. But what is the real purpose behind these rules? It tries to link AI technology with homemarket consumption. Not only can it increase sales of smart electronic products, but it also creates brandnew shopping experiences for common people.
When it comes to ordinary buyers, the guide puts greater focus on providing more AIsupported home products. Many traditional electric home appliances, such as common refrigerators, will get smart improvements. Besides these household goods, the government also wants more people to get lowcost smart wearable products, for example smart wristbands and AI glasses. What is more, specialmade AI companion robots will be popularized across the whole country. They can keep old people company and give them a hand with daily housework.
Smart electronic products are far from the whole story. AI tools will also improve many service industries, including home care, elderly care, tourism, food service and education. As one good example, schools, hospitals and office buildings will set up AIrun smart dining halls. These halls help cut down food waste and make services work better. Apart from that, the plan gives support to AIdriven online shopping and delivery business. It will build threelevel smart logistics systems covering counties, towns and villages. In this way, goods can reach buyers in faraway places more quickly. All these plans focus on public interests instead of complex official rules.
It is not enough just to produce smart goods. To make it easier for more people to try hightech products, local governments will set up AI experience centers, public places for people to test digital machines, and special industry groups. Shopping malls and other public spaces can provide free tests, sharing and renting services for AI equipment. Local officials can also give special money support for newgeneration smart devices. Such support works together with the existing national oldhomeappliance replacement policy.
So how will this group of policies influence our market? Homemarket researchers believe these rules are meant to dig out consumption power that has not been fully used. When AI is mixed with daily shopping and public services, these joint measures are likely to bring new and powerful growth force to China’s home consumption market. With cheap smart products and subsidy plans open to every family, more common citizens can use intelligent technology in daily life. This will further enlarge the size of home consumption in the coming years.
1.What can we infer from Paragraph 2?
A. AI companion robots are only for old people.
B. Traditional home appliances will be replaced by smart ones soon.
C. The guide aims to make AI products more accessible to ordinary people.
D. Smart wearable products are more popular than AI home appliances.
2. Why does the writer talk about schools, hospitals and office buildings in Paragraph 3?
A. To give typical examples of public places where AI improves service efficiency.
B. To prove public buildings create the largest amount of food waste each year.
C. To show AI dining halls have already been widely used in public organizations.
D. To stress that foodservice industry is the most important area for AI development.

On July 6, 2026, the China National Space Administration made a big announcement to the public. After an amazing 400-day journey through space, covering nearly one billion kilometers, China’s Tianwen-2 probe successfully entered its planned orbit. It is now just 20 kilometers away from asteroid 2016 HO3, which is officially named Kamo’oalewa. This marks a key change for the mission: the probe has finished its long-distance deep space travel and started to carry out high-precision nearby observation regularly.
Tianwen-2 was sent into space by a Long March 3B rocket from Xichang Satellite Launch Center on May 29, 2025. To get close to this small space object, it followed carefully designed flight paths step by step. It took its first clear photo of 2016 HO3 on June 6, and just one day later, it completed orbital capture 30,000 kilometers away, flying on the same orbital plane as the asteroid. By June 19, the probe had positioned itself 2,000 kilometers from the target and turned on its fully automatic deep space navigation systems. What’s more, its optical navigation equipment greatly refined the asteroid’s orbital data during the whole approach. It cut ground-based positioning errors from hundreds of kilometers down to just several kilometers, which was a huge improvement for the mission.
Known as Earth’s most stable quasi-satellite, 2016 HO3 has a special orbit: it circles the Sun while keeping almost the same orbital speed as Earth. Measuring 30 to 40 meters across and spinning extremely fast, it is like a well-preserved relic from the early Solar System. Scientists believe that the samples collected from it will help solve many puzzles, such as how planets formed, where Earth’s water came from, and what technologies can protect our planet from asteroid impacts.
In the coming months, Tianwen-2 will focus on mapping the asteroid’s surface landforms and analyzing its chemical composition. These tasks are to make full preparations for sample collection. If all space operations go as planned, a return capsule will bring the asteroid samples back to Earth in late 2027. After separating from the return capsule, the main spacecraft will continue its ten-year mission and head for 311P, a main belt comet, to carry out further research.
Once the sampling mission is finished, China will become the third country in the world to successfully bring asteroid samples back to Earth. More than just a great achievement in China’s aerospace industry, the success of Tianwen-2 will provide valuable cosmic data for scientists around the world. It will also push forward humanity’s deep space exploration together, making it a meaningful step for global scientific progress.
1.What can we infer about the Tianwen-2 mission from Paragraph 2?
A. The probe’s flight paths were designed very carefully to approach the asteroid.
B. The probe completed orbital capture just after it was sent into space.
C. The optical navigation equipment failed to work during the approach.
D. The ground-based positioning errors were reduced to zero finally.
2. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Ground-based positioning errors were once very large before the probe’s approach.
B. Tianwen-2 will send asteroid samples back to Earth before late 2027.
C. The main spacecraft will continue its mission for ten years after the sampling task.
D. Asteroid 2016 HO3 circles the Earth instead of the Sun.
3.What will happen after the sampling mission is finished?
A. The main spacecraft will stop working and return to Earth.
B. China will become the third country to collect asteroid samples globally.
C. The samples will be used only for China’s own scientific research.
D. The main spacecraft will head for another comet for further research.

A research team from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has made a landmark achievement in global medicine. They used a modified G1 humanoid robot to perform two minimally invasive gallbladder removal operations on live pigs. This lightweight robot, nicknamed Surgie, was developed by Chinese tech company Unitree Robotics. Their research paper was officially published in Nature on July 8, which has drawn wide attention from medical and tech industries around the world.
To test the robot’s stability, the team designed two different test operations. In the first trial, one Surgie robot performed the surgery alone, with a human surgeon standing by to offer help if needed. In the second test, two Surgie robots worked together to finish the whole procedure without continuous human guidance. This marked the first time that teleoperated humanoid robots have completed such complex live surgical operations. Dr. Ryan Broderick, interim director of the Center for the Future of Surgery at UCSD, told reporters, “As a proof of concept, it absolutely worked.”
Traditional surgical robot systems cost millions of dollars and need specially designed operating rooms. However, Surgie is much cheaper and more convenient. It costs about $13,500 and weighs only 27 kilograms. Its mechanical arms can reach just 450 millimeters, so it can fit easily in standard small operating rooms without any facility changes. This low-cost design breaks down financial barriers that once limited advanced minimally invasive treatment to big city hospitals.
Even with these advantages, the robot still has clear limitations before it can be tested on humans. The surgical team has to pause often to readjust the robot’s arms, which makes the total surgery time longer during trials. Besides, its short arm reach makes large and complex operations impossible for now. The UCSD research team has not announced a clear timeline for clinical trials on human patients.
Researchers believe that Surgie will change global medical services in the future. “You can imagine this device being used on a ship, in a village, or in a small operating environment that is not in major cities,” said Dr. Shanglei Liu, a colorectal surgeon at UCSD. “And it opens up, I think, a lot of doors for access.” It could be sent to remote rural clinics, battlefield medical stations or hospital ships at sea to help solve the worldwide shortage of skilled surgeons.
1. What can we learn about traditional surgical robots from the passage?
A. They can work without any human guidance.
B. They are affordable for small local hospitals.
C. Specialized operating rooms are necessary for them.
D. Their weight is lighter than the Surgie robot.
2.What result will Surgie’s lowcost design bring about?
A. Large city hospitals will give up their old surgical robot systems.
B. More medical centers may get chances to use minimallyinvasive treatment.
C. Medical equipment factories will cut the price of all their robot products.
D. Local hospitals will no longer need to buy speciallybuilt operating rooms.
3. What is Dr. Ryan Broderick’s attitude toward the two trials of Surgie?
A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Cautious. D. Unconcerned.
4. What can be inferred from the last paragraph of the text?
A. Surgie can expand medical resources to less accessible areas.
B. The shortage of skilled surgeons will disappear in the near future.
C. Surgie will carry out human clinical trials in rural areas soon.
D. Deep space medical service is the main research target of Surgie.
5. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To analyze the weaknesses of teleoperated medical equipment.
B. To compare different types of medical robots in global hospitals.
C. To argue for the wide application of robot surgery on human patients.
D. To introduce a breakthrough of a low-cost surgical humanoid robot.
