I.M. Pei
(贝聿铭)
He’s a famous Chinese-American architect (美籍华人建筑师). The building behind him is the Louvre Pyramid (卢浮宫玻璃金字塔) in Paris, France.He designed this glass pyramid as the new entrance to the Louvre Museum.He is known for his beautiful and modern buildings around the world.
Here are some other famous buildings that he designed.
Bank of China Tower

Location: Hong Kong, China
Built: 1985–1989
It looks like a bamboo plant growing up. In Chinese culture, bamboo means strength and new life. It was the tallest building in Hong Kong when it was finished.
Suzhou Museum
(苏州博物馆)
Location: Suzhou, China
Built: 2003–2006
Mr. Pei was born in Suzhou. He loved this project very much. He called it his "little daughter". The museum has white walls and beautiful gardens. It looks like old Suzhou but also modern.
Location: Washington D.C., USA
Built: 1974–1978
This building made Mr. Pei a world-famous architect. It has sharp triangles and clever use of space. US President Carter said Mr. Pei was a "great architect"
National Gallery of Art – East Building (美国国家美术馆东馆)
Location: Beijing, China
Built: 1979–1982
This hotel was I.M. Pei's gift to China. He wanted to create a new kind of Chinese building — not old and not Western. He mixed modern ideas with traditional Chinese garden style. It has white walls, grey roofs, and beautiful courtyards, just like old Suzhou gardens.
