Suddenly it was announced that the “empty” land would be improved by a lot of houses on it. The plants would be removed, the animals would run away and most would probably die. Then the wet soil (土壤) would be covered with extra grounds.
When he heard about the news, he was not happy. He was very worried that the land and water would be polluted.
Andrew wrote down clearly all the research he had done about the area, and how the houses would affect (影响) the local environment. He sent letters to members of local government and television reporters. He also called on his neighbors to oppose the building of the houses.
Although he was only 12 years old, he had the courage and wisdom of a person much older. Andrew’s teachers described him as gentle, shy and active. Electric heat and light make our homes warm and welcome, but they also burn up coal and oil. We need factories, but factory waste pollutes our waterways.
People believe that changing the way we live in the future may actually improve our planet’s health. We can use cleaner energy and fewer chemicals as we build the towns of tomorrow. Here are some ideas that many people think will make our planet a cleaner place to live.
More and more people will be working in their homes by using computers. Today, more electric trains are being built, and electric cars are being developed. Shopping and entertainment (娱乐) may be as close as a ride on an Earth-friendly bicycle.
We’ll grow corn, fruits, and vegetables close to home, either in our gardens or on nearby farms. The farms will use different kinds of insects to stop harmful bugs (虫子). That will help keep chemicals out of our food.
Online stores will be popular, but we’ll still have shopping malls. They will be small, just with space for parking bikes. They will use natural sunlight to cut down on energy use. They will also recycle the objects you buy there, when you are finished using them.
Solar energy is available now to some homeowners. In the future, every home will probably use this kind of energy, which is from sunlight. Our appliances, such as cookers, dish washers, washing machines and fridges, will run on it.
76.Modern inventions only cause problems to our life.
77.The shopping malls will be small in size in the future.
78.Shopping malls will disappear and people will only go shopping online.
79.Students will study online by themselves at home in the future.
80.In the future, every home will probably use solar energy.

第三节:简答 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
请根据以下短文内容,回答短文后面的问题,答题回答词数不得超过10个单词。
Earthquakes happen very often in Tokyo, but Tokyo is not an unlucky city. Many special parks have been built in Tokyo to keep people safe during earthquakes. These parks look nothing different from the other parks, but when earthquakes happen, they become life saving places.
Many useful things in those special parks can meet people’s basic needs. For example, it is usually hard for people to get water after earthquakes. In the special parks, people can get drinking water from the water pump (泵). If people need to use toilets, they can choose special toilets that can be used without water. Also, the helicopter can land on squares or baseball fields and bring food or other things to people. What’s more, if people need to cook in the parks, some special benches can become cooking things.
However, those useful things are not enough for people to face earthquakes. The most important part lies in training people. The parks, together with fire stations and the police, will train with local people at the usual time. This will let people think and move faster during real earthquakes and as a result, they will protect themselves better.
So, what can we do to protect ourselves from getting hurt in earthquakes? First, we need to check our furniture and make sure they won’t fall down easily. Second, when an earthquake happens, we need to stay under tables or desks and protect our head. Third, we can keep our door open and wear comfortable shoes during small earthquakes in order to get out safely.
81.Why are there many special parks in Tokyo?

Andrew Holleman, a 12-year-old boy, loved playing in the open land near his home. The land was wet and forested, and made a home for the birds, other animals and many different plants.
It made the perfect place for him to study and get to know the nature. He had seen some red-tailed hawks, red foxes, wood turtles and other animals. He also found special native flowers.
His classmates also admired how much he knew about local animals and plants, and the environment. Each day after school, Andrew went door-to-door, to ask the people to sign (签名), who did not want the houses to be built. In only one month, he got the signatures of 250 people.

Modern inventions make our everyday lives easier, but many of these inventions also cause problems. Cars burn oil to get us where we want to go. This pollutes the air.
