“I was wrong. It was much 52 than I imagined. We shared mooncakes and admired the full moon together,” Anna said. “I missed my family far away, and I wanted to talk about my hometown’s Christmas 53.”
Anna is not alone. Lots of foreign students have the same 54: They can talk freely about their own festivals 55 their Chinese friends, but they know little about the history behind Chinese festivals. According to a Chinese culture teacher, the main reason is that foreign students only pay attention to festival food instead of 56.
The teacher hopes schools can give foreign students more chances to open their 57, such as festival sharing meetings, lantern shows and dragon boat races. Students can join any activity they like. 58 he also gives some advice to foreign students. “In your free time you should 59 more about festival stories. When you take part in festival activities, imagine you are part of the local family and enjoy every minute,” the teacher said. “That 60 a wonderful festival experience and you will love Chinese culture.”
