Last year,eight-year-old Trisha Rao was worried about her upcoming school exams,so she
turned to poetry to help work through her feelings and give herself confidence as she prepared for
the tests."It was a good way to make me stay calm,"Rao says.
While listening to the news with her father,Rao learned about the war in Syria.Conditions
in the country were tough, and many people were leaving for safer areas."I was sad that they
lost their homes and some of them lost their family,"Rao said.
It made Rao think. If the poem she had written the night before her test had given her hope,
maybe it could do the same for the refugee (children.Rao worked on her poem and
turned it into a book called Believe in Yourself with the help of her family and friends. It follows
the tales(故事)of Sunshine the pup(小狗)(based on Rao's real-life Cocker Spaniel of the
same name)and Papa Dog.Each page presents a lesson on topics such as overcoming
difficulties,working hard,and of course,believing in one's self.
"I feel that the Syrian refugee children need to hear a message of hope,"she says."I'm
happy that I was able to write this book and share this message with them."
The refugee children have accepted Rao's encouraging message so enthusiastically that the
Istanbul Center for Support to Life has begun translating Rao's book into Arabic so they'll be
able to read it in their own language.Believe in Yourself has also earned Rao a prize from the
Independent Publishers Book Awards for Best Children's eBook.
In order to get Believe in Yourself into the hands of as many children as possible,Rao and
her family have promised to donate (a copy of the book to a refugee child for every copy
sold.

Altitude training is a way of encouraging the body to produce more red blood cells, which
can improve endurance (when performing activities at lower altitudes. This kind of
training includes living at a high altitude and training at a lower one, because the body needs
oxygen to train.1.But its effects will be felt by anyone who has an extended stay at a
high altitude.
For the purposes of altitude training,an altitude of about 2,500 m is desirable, but any
relatively high altitude will work.2.So it is common to use a lower altitude.
3.This is accomplished by using the body's natural response to needing more oxygen
over an extended period of time. There are people who question whether altitude training actually
works by increasing the number of red blood cells. In theory,if one is competing at sea level, the
increase in red blood cells will last for several days after leaving the high altitude, giving one a
competitive edge.4.
While altitude training is primarily used by athletes who need increased endurance, the
desired effects of high altitudes will be experienced by anyone who travels to a high altitude
for an extended period of time.5.
Children who normally live at high altitudes can
obecome very active when brought to low altitudes due to similar effects.
A.Less oxygen makes them hard to breathe.
B.Red cells have been proved to be effective.
C.It's difficult to find altitudes this high that are still fit for training.
D.It can be argued that any positive effects scatter too quickly to be useful.

niversity.Strangely,he wasn't greeted with Poppy's eager barking but an unbelievable scene. The two dogs were tumbling
about on the floor. The house was pulsating with life.Parents came up,hugging their son."One has to grow up in his new
friends'company. We should get used to it,"mom said half-jokingly,stroking his thin but determined face.It can't be sure
enough.
