一、阅读理解
Passage A
In the past decade, wearable technology has moved from a niche interest to a mainstream phenomenon,
fundamentally altering how we approach health and fitness. From simple step counters to sophisticated
smartwatches capable of monitoring heart rate variability, sleep patterns, and even blood oxygen levels,
these devices have turned our bodies into data-generating platforms. The core promise is compelling:
by making the invisible visible,we can take greater control of our well-being.
However, the relationship between wearables and actual health improvement is more complex than it
first appears.A 2019 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that
while activity trackers did lead to a modest increase in physical activity among users, this increase was
not significantly greater than that achieved by simply being given a personalized activity plan and a
phone call from a health coach. The study suggested that the "wow factor"of a new gadget may
wear off,and long-term adherence remains a challenge. The thrill of closing a digital ring can fade,
leaving the device forgotten in a drawer.
What the data from wearables often fails to capture is the psychological and contextual aspects of
health.A spike in heart rate might indicate a health emergency, but it could also simply be a response
to a stressful email or an exciting phone call. The device records the physiological response, but it
cannot interpret the cause.Furthermore, there is a risk of "orthosomnia"-a term coined by sleep
researchers to describe the perfectionism and anxiety that can arise from obsessively tiying to achieve
perfect sleep scores as dictated by a device. The tool designed to reduce stress can,for some, become a
new source of it.
Despite these nuances, the potential of wearable technology is immense, especially when combined
with intelligent data analysis. The current generation of devices excels at logging raw data, like the
number of steps taken or hours slept. The next frontier is "actionable insight."Imagine a smartwatch
that doesn't just tell you your stress level is high but,by cross-referencing your calendar, sleep
history, and recent activity, suggests that you take a five-minute breathing exercise because your
upcoming meeting is likely to be stressful. This shift from data collection to meaningful, personalized
intervention is where wearables can truly revolutionize healthcare, moving from being a passive
recorder to an active partner in well-being.
()1.What is the main idea of the first paragraph?
A.Wearable technology is now a mainstream fashion.
B.Wearables have fundamentally improved global health.
C.The primary function of wearables is to monitor sleep.
D.Wearables help people understand their health through data.
()2.According to the 2019 study mentioned, what is a key challenge for wearable users?
A.The wearable devices are too expensive.
B.The health benefits are not immediate.
C.Users may lose long-term interest in the device
D.The devices are not accurate enough
()3.The term"orthosomnia"in paragraph 3 is used to illustrate that wearables can sometimes:
A.improve sleep quality effectively.
B.create new mental health issues.
C.fail to detect sleep disorders.
D.be less accurate than medical devices.
()4.What is the author's attitude towards the future of wearables?
A.Highly critical,believing they are a fad.
B.Surprisingly negative,focusing on their failures.
C.Cautiously optimistic, seeing potential for more help
D.Completely indifferent to their development.
Passage B
The concept of "flow,"popularized by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, describes a state of
complete absorption in an activity where time seems to disappear and self-consciousness fades away.It
is that sweet spot where the challenge of a task perfectly matches your skill level-not too easy to be
boring, and not too difficult to be anxiety-provoking.For athletes, this is often referred to as being "in
the zone."Csikszentmihalyi argued that this state is not just a source of peak performance, but a key
ingredient for a happy and fulfilling life.
Yet,achieving flow is notoriously elusive. Our modemn world, with its constant notifications and
endless distractions,is the enemy of deep focus. The ping of a smartphone can instantly shatter a state
of concentration, making it difficult to re-enter the flow.Furthermore, the conditions for flow are
highly individual. What one person finds perfectly challenging, another may find frustratingly difficult
or mind-numbingly simple.Finding your own flow state requires self-knowledge and a degree of
experimentation.
Intiguingly, the principles of flow are now being applied beyond individual sports and hobbies.
Companies are designing workspaces and tasks to encourage flow, recognizing that employees in a
flow state are not only more productive but also more creative and satisfied with their jobs. This
involves structuring tasks with clear goals, providing immediate feedback, and minimizing interruptions.
The "maker schedule,"adopted by some tech companies, where employees are given large,
uninterrupted blocks of time for deep work,is a direct application of flow theory to the workplace.
However, there is a potential dark side to the pursuit of flow. Some activities that induce a state of
flow, such as playing video games or scrolling through social media feeds, can be highly engaging but
ultimately unproductive or even harmful. These activities are described as providing "easy flow"
because they require little skill and offer immediate, rewarding feedback. The challenge, therefore,is
not just to find flow, but to channel it towards meaningful goals.True well-being,it seems, comes not
from any flow experience, but from flow experiences that align with our deeper values and contribute
to our long-term growth.
()1.What is the primary condition for achieving a state of flow, according to the passage?
A.Having a clear goal in a quiet environment.
B.Being an expert in the task being performed.
C.The task's challenge is a perfect match for one's skill.
D.Having no distractions from technology.
()2.The author mentions the structure of tasks in a workplace to show that flow theory is:
A.being applied to improve work efficiency and satisfaction.
B.only useful for athletes and artists.
C.difficult to implement in a team setting.
D.a new concept that is not widely understood.
()3.What does the"dark side"of pursuing flow refer to in the last paragraph?
A.The frustration of not being able to achieve flow.
B.The physical exhaustion caused by deep focus.
C.The potential to be absorbed in unproductive activities
D.The social isolation that comes from deep concentration
()4.What is the best title for this passage?
A.The Hidden Dangers of Modern Distraction
B.How to Find Your Flow State at Work
C.The Sweet Spot:Understanding the Science of Flow
D.Athletes and the Zone:A Psychological Analysis

三、阅读短文回答问题
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。每题答案不超过12个词。
When we think of sports,we often think of fierce competition and the pursuit of victory. However,a
growing body of research suggests that the most transformative power of sport lies not in winning, but
in leaming to lose.A study from the University of Michigan followed youth soccer players over a
season. It found that those who experienced defeat and were coached to focus on effort rather than
outcome developed higher levels of resilience. They were better able to cope with setbacks not only in
sports but also in their academic lives.
Dr.Elena Martinez,a sports psychologist,explains,"The playing field provides a safe,structured
environment to experience failure.You miss a shot,you lose a match,and the world doesn't end.You
have to process that disappointment, analyze what went wrong, and try again. This cycle desensitizes
you to the fear of failure, which is one of the biggest obstacles to success in any field."The key,she
emphasizes,is the "coaching response."A coach who tells a player,"That was a tenible loss,you
didn't ty hard enough,"reinforces a fear of failure. But a coach who says,"You gave it your all,
now let's look at the tape and see where we can improve,"fosters a growth mindset.
This concept is trickling into corporate training.Companies are beginning to use "failure festivals"
where employees present their biggest professional failures and the lessons leamed. The goal is to
create a culture where risk-taking is encouraged, and failure is seen as a valuable data point on the path
to innovation, not a mark of shame. The lesson from the sports field seems clear:to win in the long
run,you must first leamn how to lose.
1.What did the University of Michigan study find about players who experienced defeat?
2.According to Dr.Martinez, what is the biggest obstacle to success in any field?
3.What kind of mindset does a coach foster by focusing on effort and improvement?
4.Why are some companies creating "failure festivals'?
5.What is the main lesson the author draws from the sports field?

Dear Chris,
I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling stressed and run-down.It's completely understandable
given the pressure of your studies.
Running has truly transformed my life.Firstly,it's a great stress reliever,a 30-minute run clears my
mind and helps me forget about worries.Secondly,it has given me more energy and improved my
sleep quality, making me feel refreshed for my studies.
To start,just get a good pair of running shoes.Begin with short,easy runs,15-20 minutes,three times
a week.Listen to your body to avoid injury. Most importantly, don't push too hard at first. The key
is to make it a habit and enjoy the process.
I hope these suggestions can help you as much as they've helped me.

Running has truly transformed my life.Firstly,it's a great stress reliever;a 30-minute run clears my
mind and helps me forget about worries.Secondly,it has given me more energy and improved my
sleep quality, making me feel refreshed for my studies.
Best wishes,
