Passage A
Darlene’s Success
I used to be tall for my age and I used to get a lot of attention because of my height. 1 Other kids could do things that I just couldn’t do, like hitting or throwing a baseball. I used to have no confidence and didn’t think I would make much progress.
In Grade 8, our school basketball team had a new coach. He quickly noticed me and asked if I wanted to join his team. 2 But I couldn’t believe his words at that time.
“Darlene is a person who isn’t confident,” one of my friends said. The new coach said, “I’ll help her make it.” 3
Every day after school, I worked with the new coach. He told me that I was so tall, so my duty was to play centre. A centre is a player who stands under the net and gets rebounds (篮板球) . 4
I did push-ups and sit-ups and then I spent most of my time practicing shooting. When I first started, I got zero out of ten shots I took. But I didn’t want to give up. With the help of the coach, after a few weeks of practice, I had about five out of ten shots landing in the basket. But I still wasn’t very excellent. However, I was so tall that if someone took a shot I was usually the first one to reach the ball after it came down from the net. 5 The season came and went. We won the game finally. It was my coach and my teammates that helped me succeed.
It’s exciting to learn something about yourself and to realize that you are what you make of yourself.
A.But I did badly in sports.
B.I am afraid of the challenge.
C.He told me I would be the star!
D.I did a good job in the basketball game.
E.Centres are always the tallest in the team.
F.I saw encouragement and trust in the new coach’s eyes.
G.Later, I became better at putting the ball into the net because of my hard work.
I used to be tall for my age and I used to get a lot of attention because of my height.
used to do sth.
However, I was so tall that if someone took a shot I was usually the first one to reach the ball after it came down from the net.
分析:句是 so...that...(如此…… the first one to reach the ball 中,不定式 to reach... 作后置定语,修饰 the first one。
It’s exciting to learn something about yourself and to realize that you are what you make of yourself.
和 to realize...。宾语从句 that you are what you make of yourself 中,what you make of yourself 是表语从句。
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.F 4.E 5.G
A选项“But I did badly in sports.”
C选项“He told me I would be the star!”
F选项“I saw encouragement and trust in the new coach’s eyes.”
E选项“Centres are always the tallest in the team.”
G选项“Later, I became better at putting the ball into the net because of my hard work.”

PassageB
A New Job in the Sky
Do you know that drones can send packages, take photos, and help farmers? But who tells the drones where to fly? That is the job of a Drone Route Planner
A drone route planner is a new kind of job. People in this job plan safe flying routes for drones. They use computers and map software to find the best way. They also watch the weather and the traffic in the sky. This helps keep drones away from danger.
Why do we need this job? Because more and more drones are flying in cities. Without good plans, drones may hit each other or fall down. A good route planner can make the sky safer.
To be a drone route planner, you need to be good at math and geography. You also need to learn how to use map software quickly. Teamwork is important too.
This job is still new, but it is growing fast. If you love technology and solving problems, you may become a drone route planner in the future!
1.What does a drone route planner use to find the best flying way?
A.A kite and a map. B.A phone and a book.
C.A computer and map software. D.A drone and a camera.
2.Why do we need drone route planners according to the passage?
A.Because drones are too expensive.
B.Because drones cannot take photos.
C.Because farmers don’t like drones.
D.Because more drones are flying in cities.
3.What does the underlined word “routes” in paragraph 2 most likely mean?
A.Roads or paths to follow. B.Kinds of drones.
C.Weather conditions. D.Computer games.
4.What is the structure (结构) of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
5.Look at the four pictures, which picture shows the main task of a Drone Route Planner?
A.A person controlling a drone by hand
B.A person drawing flying routes for drones on a computer
C.A person repairing a broken drone
D.A person putting a package on a drone
People in this job plan safe flying routes for drones.
Without good plans, drones may hit each other or fall down.
If there are no good plans。hit each other 表示“互相撞击”,fall down 表示“掉落、坠落”。
1.C 2.D 3.A 4.A 5.B
根据第二段“They use computers and map software to find the best way.”,他们使用“电脑和地图软件”找到最佳飞行路线。
2.根据第三段“Because more and more drones are flying in cities. Without good plans, drones may hit each other or fall down.”,“因为越来越多无人机在城市上空飞行”,所以需要规划师保证安全。
3.根据第二段“People in this job plan safe flying routes for drones”和“find the best way”,做这种工作的人们会为无人机规划安全的飞行“路线”,以帮助找到最佳的路。
5.根据第二段“People in this job plan safe flying routes for drones. They use computers and map software to find the best way.”,无人机路线规划师的核心工作:用电脑和地图软件规划无人机的安全飞行路线。

Jenny first got into motorsport (赛车运动) by watching her younger brother, Bill, drive his kart (卡丁赛车). Every time he took off his helmet (头盔) with a big smile, she became more fascinated. Soon after, she took the wheel herself.
She started out in karts, racing at state level and then nationally, and got good results early on. She got into the 2023 Ferrari training camp and was invited to enter a top Italian racing school. She then won Best New Driver in November 2024, and moved up to the Spanish F4 (一种入门级赛车比赛). In February 2025, she became a driver of the F1 Academy — races for women racers.
Racing needs a strong mind, not just fast driving. Starting karting at 9 taught her how hard the sport is on the mind and how discouraging and exciting it can be all at once. Now, Jenny talks with a coach every week and acts out situations she’s likely to face, which helps her stay calm under pressure and keep focused in races.
Since she travels a lot for racing, Jenny has to study online. And she misses her friends’ birthdays. Always being on the way means leaving behind her loved things like her home, her school and the people she grew up with.
As a woman driver, Jenny has faced doubts, but she believes love and performance speak loudest. She hopes to encourage more girls to go for their dreams. She enjoys the speed and excitement of driving. Her biggest dream is to become the first woman F1 driver in her country.
1.When did Jenny become interested in motorsport?
A.When she enjoyed a race on TV. B.When she watched Bill drive his kart.
C.When she got a dream helmet. D.When she attended a racing school.
2.What does Paragraph 2 focus on?
A.The history of the F1 Academy. B.Jenny’s educational background.
C.The development of the Spanish F4. D.Jenny’s big moments in motor racing.
3.How does Jenny keep her mind strong?
A.By playing sports every day. B.By learning from other racers.
C.By working with a coach before races. D.By competing with her brother.
4.What can be inferred from paragraph 4?
A.Jenny can balance her life well. B.Jenny values her free time most.
C.Jenny makes great efforts for racing. D.Jenny might travel a lot with her friends.
5.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.No Doubt, No Success B.Driven to Fly
C.The Younger, The Better D.Born to Coach
Every time he took off his helmet with a big smile, she became more fascinated.
with a big smile
Starting karting at 9 taught her how hard the sport is on the mind and how discouraging and exciting it can be all at once.
两个 how 引导的宾语从句并列,第一个是 how hard... is on the mind(对心理有多难),第二个是 how discouraging and exciting it can be(它能有多令人沮丧和兴奋)。all at once 意为“同时”。
Now, Jenny talks with a coach every week and acts out situations she’s likely to face, which helps her stay calm under pressure and keep focused in races.
Jenny talks... and acts out situations。she's likely to face 是定语从句,修饰 situations(省略了关系代词 that)。 acts out 意为“把…… be likely to do
根据第一段第一句“Jenny first got into motorsport... by watching her younger brother, Bill, drive his kart.”
3.根据第三段最后一句“Now, Jenny talks with a coach every week and acts out situations she’s likely to face, which helps her stay calm under pressure...”

Passage2
Tang Weisheng, also called Longzai, comes from Guangzhou. He has loved breakdancing (霹雳舞) for almost 20 years. He began his breakdancing journey at the age of 13 in 2006. However, dance took up too much of his time, which worried his parents. To win his parents’ support, Tang tried hard to do well both in study and dance. His parents found that dance had a good influence on him. Finally, they agreed. Their understanding became his strongest motivation (动力). Later, he turned out to be a famous dancer.
Tang first won national attention in a popular TV show and then took part in top world dance competitions. He got excellent results and showed that the skills of Chinese dancers reached a world-class level. Although breakdancing started abroad, Tang strongly believes that its future lies in China. “To give breakdancing a whole new life, I mix it with Chinese culture,” he said.
Tang is glad to see that breakdancing is thriving in China. From children as young as 3 or 4 to people in their 40s and 50s, all shine on stage. He has begun teaching his 3-year-old son breakdancing.
Like countless young dancers who share the same love, Tang continues to dance and tell the story of Chinese youth (青年).
1.When did Tang Weisheng begin his breakdancing journey?
A.In 2006. B.In 2009. C.In 2010. D.In 2019.
2.How did Tang give breakdancing a new life?
A.By showing it abroad. B.By teaching it to young dancers.
C.By presenting it on TV. D.By mixing it with Chinese culture.
3.What does the underlined word “thriving” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Growing. B.Leaving. C.Dividing. D.Shaking.
4.In which part of a newspaper can you find the text?
A.Science. B.History. C.Culture. D.Business.
However, dance took up too much of his time, which worried his parents.
分析:主句是 dance took up too much of his time,后面跟了一个非限制性定语从句 which worried his parents。
To win his parents' support, Tang tried hard to do well both in study and dance.
To win his parents' support Tang tried hard to do well...。both in study and dance 中,both... and...
Like countless young dancers who share the same love, Tang continues to dance and tell the story of Chinese youth.
分析:Like countless young dancers... 是介词短语作状语,其中 who share the same love 是定语从句修饰 dancers。 Tang continues to dance and tell the story...。定语从句 who share the same love 修饰先行词 dancers(复数),关系代词用 who。continue to do 意为“继续做某事”,后接两个并列的不定式 to dance 和 (to) tell。

Passage 1
(25-26九·山东滨州邹平黄山初级中学·)In our daily life, we often meet many problems. Have you ever thought about why some people stay happy and solve these problems easily, while others feel sad all the time? The reason is positive thinking.
Positive thinking is good for our health. Studies show that happy people are usually healthier. When we think positively, our bodies make things that can keep us away from illness. For example, happy patients often recover faster. Also, positive people like to exercise and eat healthy food, so they stay healthy.
Positive thinking is good for our minds, too. Positive people see problems as chances to grow. When they face problems, they try to find ways to solve them. This helps them feel less stressed. For example, if a student fails a test, a positive student will find out what went wrong and study harder. A negative student may just feel bad and give up. Positive thinking can also make our friendships better. Happy people are fun to be with. Their good feelings make others happy. They often help and encourage friends, and friends love them more.
We need to practice because it’s not easy to think positively. We can start by watching our thoughts. When we have negative thoughts, we should tell ourselves positive things. For example, don’t say “I can’t do it.” Say “I’ll do my best.” All in all, positive thinking can improve our lives. Let’s try to think positively and live better.
1.What can we infer from Paragraph 2?
A.Positive thinking can help prevent illness.
B.Happy people never get sick.
C.All patients recover faster if they are happy.
2.What does the underlined word “This” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Seeing problems as chances to grow.
B.Trying to find ways to solve problems.
C.Feeling stressed and giving up.
3.What is the structure of the passage?
4.What is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Stay Healthy B.How to Solve Problems C.The Power of Positive Thinking
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.A 4.C
根据第二段中的“When we think positively, our bodies make things that can keep us away from illness.”
2.根据第三段中的“When they face problems, they try to find ways to solve them. This helps them feel less stressed.”
Passage 2
I’ve always looked up to people who achieve great things.
When I was a teenager, a friend of my neighbor’s won a marathon. This encouraged me, and I began running three times a week. But then two things changed my mind. First, I met a girl who said she was training for an “ultra-race”—a double marathon of 52.4 miles. The very next day, I ran my longest way ever: 15 miles. To tell the truth, I really didn’t enjoy it! Between her huge goal that made mine seem small, and how tiring and uninteresting running felt, I decided I would only run again if a big dog was running after me.
So I started cycling instead. I had a nice bike and rode often. I even thought about joining races—until I visited my sister in San Diego. One day when she was working, I borrowed her bike. The problem was that the roads went through large low areas between hills, and I had to ride for miles with no break. I wasn’t used to anything like that. That day, about 100 local cyclists passed me—they were clearly comfortable on those roads. When I returned home, I suddenly lost interest in cycling.
Since then, I’ve grown and learned a lot. Whatever goals I set for myself, they just have to be my own.

A.He hurt his leg while running.
B.He was followed by a dog while running.
C.He compared himself with a better runner.
3.What can be inferred (推断) about the local San Diego cyclists?
A.They were not friendly to the writer.
B.They were very skilled on those roads.
C.They rode much slower than the writer.
4.What ended the writer’s interest in cycling?
A.A difficult ride where many people passed him.
B.His sister wouldn’t lend him her bike.
C.The weather in San Diego was too hot.
5.Why does the writer share his experience in the text?
A.To tell us we should always try to beat other people in sports.
B.To show us that goals should be personal and not compared.
C.To show that trying new sports helps us find ourselves.
1.A 2.C 3.B 4.A 5.B
根据第二段前两句“When I was a teenager, a friend of my neighbor’s won a marathon. This encouraged me…”
2.根据第二段中“Between her huge goal that made mine seem small… I decided I would only run again if a big dog was running after me.”
3.根据第三段中“about 100 local cyclists passed me—they were clearly comfortable on those roads.”
5.根据最后一段“Whatever goals I set for myself, they just have to be my own.”
Passage 3
Samuel lived in a small village near a big mountain. He was an ordinary (普通的) man, but he had big dreams and a heart full of hope. Even if life was not easy for him, he always believed hard work could change everything.
Every day, Samuel looked at the mountain. It stood high and strong, making him want to be strong too.
One day, Samuel decided to climb the mountain. The villagers laughed at him. “You can’t do it!” they said. However, Samuel didn’t let them stop him. With strong determination, he began his journey up the mountain.
It was hard, with steep slopes (陡峭的山坡), slippery (滑的) rocks, and unpredictable weather making the journey rather dangerous. Samuel fell lots of times. His leg hurt and he felt very tired, but he didn’t give up.
On the way, Samuel met other travelers. They helped each other. Soon, they became brothers, cheering each other up and sharing stories of their hard times and successes. Their friendship made them all stronger.
As Samuel climbed higher, the air got thinner, and the challenges grew harder. Samuel felt tired and scared. “Maybe I should stop,”he thought. But then, he remembered his dream. “I must try!” he told himself. With that thought, he moved on, bit by bit.
Finally, after days of effort, Samuel reached the top. The view was amazing. He saw green forests and rivers below. The world looked quite different in his eyes, big and beautiful.
It was then that Samuel realized the true victory wasn’t just about reaching the top of the mountain. It was a journey. The changes he had experienced mattered most.
News of Samuel’s success spread quickly, and the villagers were shocked. “You really did it!”they said. Samuel’s journey taught everyone a lesson: ________.

2.根据文章第六段内容,Samuel感到疲惫和害怕时,虽然想过停止,但想起梦想后告诉自己“I must try!”,随后“he moved on, bit by bit.”(他一点一点继续前进)。

Passage A
Darlene’s Success

People in this job plan safe flying routes for drones.
Without good plans, drones may hit each other or fall down.
If there are no good plans。hit each other 表示“互相撞击”,fall down 表示“掉落、坠落”。

4.What is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Stay Healthy B.How to Solve Problems C.The Power of Positive Thinking
