Rabbits usually have different meanings in different cultures. Rabbits are quick, quiet and smart. Many Chinese idioms (成语) speak to these features. For example, people often say dongruotuotu to praise people for their quick moves. Jiaotusanku means that a clever rabbit always has many holes. This makes it hard for people to find it.
In Chinese culture, the rabbit stands for the moon. People used to believe a rabbit was living on the moon. The rabbit is called the Moon Rabbit. It’s the pet of Chang’e.
Rabbits can have a lot of babies in a short time. In this way, people in the past also saw the rabbit as a good sign. They believed having more children could bring them luck and happiness. Western people also see the rabbit as a sign of good luck. They believe a rabbit’s foot can bring good luck to its holder. This may go back to an old tradition. If teenage hunters (猎人) caught a rabbit, they could get the animal’s hind foot (后腿). It also welcomed them to manhood (成人).
Rabbits also show up in other areas of Western culture. In the book Alice in Wonderland, Alice follows a rabbit to get away from her world and start her journey. There is the Easter Rabbit, too. Rabbits are close to the idea of new life because they have lots of babies. The night before Easter, kids often make nests (窝) in their gardens for the Easter Rabbit.
49. What’s the feature of rabbits shown in the Chinese idiom dongruotuotu?
A. Quiet. B. Cute. C. Quick. D. Clever.
50. Which of the following is related to the rabbit in Chinese culture?
A. B. C. D.
51. What does the rabbit usually represent?

A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ②③④ D. ①③④
52. What is the writer’s purpose of writing the text?
A. To explain why rabbits are popular animals.
B. To tell us how rabbits live in different countries.
C. To compare the differences between Chinese and Western rabbits.
D. To introduce the different meanings of rabbits in Chinese and Western cultures.

Grown-ups (成年人) never understand anything on their own, and it is tiring for children to be always and forever explaining things to them. So then I chose another job and learned to fly airplanes. I lived my life alone, without anyone that I could really talk to, until I had an accident with my plane in the desert of Sahara six years ago. Something was wrong with my plane. As I had nobody else with me, I decided to try the difficult repairs all alone.
The first night, I went to sleep on the sand, a thousand miles from humans’ living places. I felt quite lonely. You can imagine my surprise, at sunrise, when I was awakened by a strange little voice. It said, “If you please, draw me a sheep!”
“What?” I shouted, jumping to my feet, completely surprised. I looked carefully all around me. I saw a most special small person, who stood there, looking at me seriously. He was hardly taller than a rosebush.
Before I could speak, he repeated, “Draw me a sheep!”
I had never drawn a sheep before, but I was so surprised and lonely that I did as he asked. I drew a simple sheep, but he shook (摇动) his head, “No, that one is sickly. Make another.” I tried again, but he said, “This one has too many horns (角). It’s not what I want.” I drew a third, and a fourth, until I grew tired. “I don’t know how to draw sheep any more,” I said, handing him a piece of paper with nothing on it. “Here’s a box. The sheep you want is inside it.”
To my surprise, his face lit up, “That’s just what I need! Does it eat a lot of grass?”
“Of course. Why do you ask?”
“Because where I live, everything is very small. I need a sheep that won’t eat all my roses.”
Roses. The word made me think of the time I was six years old. I found a book named True Stories from Nature, and there was a picture of a huge snake swallowing(吞咽)an elephant. I showed it to grown-ups and asked if it made them scared. They said, “Why would a hat make us scared?” I explained it wasn’t a hat—it was a huge snake with an elephant inside. But they told me to stop talking about snakes and elephants. They said I should focus on my spelling and arithmetic (算术). That’s when I realized grown-ups never see the true meaning of things. I put away my drawing and decided not to explain anything to them any more.
The little prince pulled me back to the present, “Will you promise the sheep won’t eat my roses?”
“I promise,” I said. And in that moment, I knew I had finally found someone I could talk to.
—Adapted from The Little Prince

58. Which is the correct order of what happened in the story?

c. sleeping on the sand and feeling lonely
d. handing him a piece of paper with nothing on it
A. acbd B. acdb C. abcd D. abdc

A. Because the little prince was good at drawing.
B. Because the little prince could understand him.
C. Because the little prince also liked small animals.
D. Because the little prince lived in a place with roses.
60. What can we infer from the writer’s experience with grown-ups when he was six?
A. Grown-ups were better at understanding the true meaning of the picture.

In Guangdong, people love the Aoyu because it brings good luck. You can see Aoyu decorations (装饰) on rooftops, and during festivals, people do the Aoyu dance. In 2007, the Aoyu dance was named an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) in Guangdong province.
Xing Zeliang, 68, is an inheritor (继承人) of the Aoyu dance. He started learning it when he was 13. Xing remembers how hard it was at first. “I couldn’t even lift the head of Aoyu,” he told China News Service. The head of the Aoyu is usually made of bamboo and paper. “It can weigh about 30 kilograms, and it is about 65 centimeters wide,” Xing said. In the past only men could do the dance. Now, Xing teaches everyone who wants to learn. Over the years, he has made the Aoyu lighter. Today, primary school students can dance with them easily. “I am so happy to see more people learning the dance,” Xing said. He hopes to bring this traditional dance to a bigger stage.

The woman wanted to buy a small gift for her son, but she had no money. Then she thought of her husband’s rich friend, so she went to ask him for help. “How much do you want?” asked the rich man. “I just need five dollars,” said the poor woman. The rich man sat down at his desk, took a piece of paper and wrote a few lines on it. Then he gave the paper to the woman. “Take it to the bank on the other side of the street.” The thankful woman hurried to the bank. The bank clerk looked at the note and gave her fifty dollars instead of five. The woman was surprised when she saw the money. “Sir, there is a mistake here,” she said, “You have given me fifty dollars, but I only asked for five.” The bank clerk asked her to wait a few minutes, while he went to see the rich man. “Yes,” said the rich man, “I did make a mistake. 【导语】本文讲述了作者曾因肥胖自卑害羞,后在朋友鼓励下减肥并参加演讲比赛,最终找回自信的故事。文章强调了勇气和行动能改变生活。
【31题详解】
句意:那是因为我很胖,其他人经常嘲笑我。
根据后文的“As a result, I became very shy.” look at看;point at指着;shout at对……
根据“I used to believe that I would be like this all my life.”
此处为固定搭配“give it a try”,意为“试一试”,故填try。
when什么时候;why为什么;how怎样,均不能作said的宾语。
根据“Why not have a try?”
根据“to lose”以及后文的“I could change myself”可知,作者应当是减肥成功了,“manage to do sth.” succeed后接“in doing sth.”;decide to do意为“决定做某事”;plan to do意为“计划做某事”,均不符。
hear from收到某人来信;hear out听完某人诉说;hear back得到回复,均不符合。
根据前文“shy”到后来“was able to share my story“可知,作者找到了“勇气”去克服恐惧,应用courage。feeling感受;advice建议;thought想法,语义均不符合。
【44题详解】
句意:比赛结束后,我列了一个待办事项清单,很快开始做出改变。
上文提到作者参加了一场比赛,所以此处是指该“比赛”结束后,应用competition。celebration庆祝;examination比赛;introduction介绍,没有前文线索支撑。
【45题详解】
句意:当致力于完成它们时,我变得越来越自信。
此处指代前文“things on the list”,为复数名词,且位于介词后应用宾格them。

A. Quiet. B. Cute. C. Quick. D. Clever.
