Passage 1
(25-26高一上·河北沧州·阶段检测)Machu Picchu, often called “The Lost City of the Incas,” is one of the world’s most famous ancient places. It lies high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, at about 2,430 meters above sea level. The air is thin here, but the views of nearby mountain tops and cloud forests are amazing. That’s why it’s a top destination for travelers and history lovers.
The Inca Empire built this famous city around the 15th century, when Emperor Pachacuti ruled. They chose its location on purpose: it fitted well with nature. The mountains helped keep enemies away. For hundreds of years, Machu Picchu stayed hidden from the rest of the world. It was in a remote area with thick plants, so most maps didn’t show it. This kept its mystery (神秘) alive.
Everything changed in 1911. American explorer Hiram Bingham found Machu Picchu by chance. He was originally (起初) looking for another Inca site, but with help from local Quechua guides, he found this “Lost City” instead. This discovery made Machu Picchu famous worldwide. People saw how great Inca engineering and culture were.
Machu Picchu’s architecture is very impressive. It shows the Incas’ advanced building skills. Unlike many old structures, it had no mortar (泥浆). Inca builders cut stones so carefully that they fit together perfectly. Historians think it might have been a royal home or a religious center, but no one knows for sure. Today, its beauty and rich history bring over a million visitors each year.
But this popularity also brings problems. Too many tourists harm the old structures. Natural disasters — made worse by climate change — also put the place in danger. To protect Machu Picchu, Peruvian leaders have taken actions. They limit daily visitors to about 2,500, set fixed paths, and run projects to keep it in good shape. Local communities also help by doing environmentally-friendly tourism work. Their goal is to keep this treasure safe for future people.

Passage 2
(25-26高一上·河南郑州·期中)This Spring Festival, Ren Jun’s family chose to travel instead of having a traditional family reunion. They went to northwest China to see ancient Buddhist caves, temples, and a very old tomb in the desert. “Our daughter loves the culture there, so we took this long break to explore,” Ren said.
More and more Chinese people are doing the same, using the holiday to visit places rich in history. Data from travel platforms (平台) indicate that air bookings to cities such as Datong and Quanzhou have doubled since January 1, and by the second day of the holiday, tickets to Beijing’s Palace Museum had sold out, and there were very few left for the Terracotta Army in Xi’an.
People now want to learn more while they travel. Ren’s group had a guide named Xing Yaolong, who is an expert on Dunhuang. He said that people are willing to pay more to see special places like the Mogao Grottoes. New travel agencies like “The Seekers” are offering in-depth tours to places like Shanxi and Yunnan.
Wang Lei, a professor at Beijing Normal University, said, “As incomes rise, people seek to enrich their spirits. Retirees are a big part of this trend.”
Many travellers are also choosing to visit smaller, older towns instead of big tourist spots. A traveller named Daodao shared about a lantern festival in Zhanqi Village on the Internet. “The night is lit up with colorful fish-shaped lanterns, and everyone is dancing to folk music,” Daodao wrote, “To keep this 800-year-old tradition alive, locals are teaching others how to make lanterns and sharing event schedules online.”
For people who stay at home, the Spring Festival Gala on TV showed many cultural traditions and got 16.8 billion views. One viewer wrote, “This is amazing! I want to visit Wuxi and Chongqing now.” Another added, “We need to know where we come from to know where we’re going.”
1. How does the author lead in the topic in the first paragraph?
A.By giving an example. B.By explaining an idea.
C.By showing numbers. D.By referring to an expert.
2. What do the data from travel platforms show?
A.The ups and downs of air tickets. B.The growth of online shopping.
C.The rise of tourism. D.The change of how people get around.
3. What did Daodao do during this Spring Festival?
A.He had a family get-together. B.He experienced village culture.
C.He visited many big tourist places. D.He taught people to make lanterns.
4. What is the best title for the text?
A.In-depth Travel for Rich People
B.A Family’s New Choice for Holidays
C.Cultural Traditions Need Protecting
D.Cultural Trips Replace Reunions for Spring Festival
A 2. C 3. B 4. D
根据第一段第一句“This Spring Festival, Ren Jun’s family chose to travel instead of having a traditional family reunion. (今年春节,任军一家选择旅行而不是传统的家庭团聚)”可知,作者开篇即呈现任军一家的具体选择,通过个体案例引出整体话题,后文铺展数据和专家分析予以支撑,这种“由点到面”的写法属于举例引入。故选A项。
根据第二段第二句“Data from travel platforms indicate that air bookings to cities such as Datong and Quanzhou have doubled since January 1, and by the second day of the holiday, tickets to Beijing’s Palace Museum had sold out, and there were very few left for the Terracotta Army in Xi’an. (旅游平台的数据显示,自1月1日以来,前往大同和泉州等城市的机票预订量已翻倍,到假期第二天,北京故宫的门票已售罄,西安兵马俑的门票也所剩无几)”可知,机票预订量翻倍、热门文化景点一票难求,这些具体数据共同指向旅游需求的显著增长,印证了文化旅行业的兴起之势。故选C项。
3. 细节理解题。根据第五段前两句“Many travellers are also choosing to visit smaller, older towns instead of big tourist spots. A traveller named Daodao shared about a lantern festival in Zhanqi Village on the Internet. (许多旅行者也选择游览小而古老的城镇,而非大型旅游景点。一位名叫刀刀的旅行者在网络上分享了战旗村灯笼节的经历。)”及后文叙述可知,这位叫“刀刀”的游客没有去知名的旅游景点,而是进行了深度的乡村文化体验游。故选B项。
4. 主旨大意题。文章第一段第一句“This Spring Festival, Ren Jun’s family chose to travel instead of having a traditional family reunion.(今年春节,任军一家选择旅行而不是传统的家庭团聚。)”
Passage 3
(25-26高一上·江苏苏州·阶段检测)In recent years, the concept of “slow travel” has appeared as a reaction to the fast-paced, mass tourism that dominates (主宰) the industry. Slow travel encourages travelers to engage deeply with local cultures, stay longer in destinations, and form meaningful connections with local communities.
One of the key principles of slow travel is to reduce environmental impact. By choosing to stay in locally-owned accommodations, eating at family-run restaurants, and using public transportation or bicycles, travelers can greatly decrease their carbon footprint. For instance, a study found that tourists who engage in slow travel produce up to 70% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to those on traditional package tours.
Slow travel also allows for a deeper cultural understanding. Instead of rushing through tourist attractions, slow travelers take the time to participate in local traditions, learn about historical importance, and interact with locals. This not only enriches the travel experience but also provides economic benefits to local communities. In some rural areas, “slow travel” has helped preserve (保存) endangered crafts and save dying traditions.
However, slow travel is not without challenges. It requires more planning and flexibility. As travelers need to research local customs, transportation options, and authentic (真实的) experiences. Additionally, slow travel may not be feasible for everyone due to time or budget (预算) limit. For busy professionals or families with limited vacation days, spending weeks in a single destination may seem unrealistic.
Despite these challenges, the slow travel movement continues to grow. Travelers are becoming more aware of their environmental and cultural impact, and many are seeking more authentic and sustainable ways to explore the world. As a result, travel companies are starting to offer more slow-travel options, such as longer home-stays and cultural experience programs.
1. Which is the benefit of slow travel?
A.It can save money on traveling.
B.It can be more environmentally friendly.
C.It can increase the income of travel companies.
D.It can allow travelers to visit more places hurriedly.
2. What can we learn about slow travel from the third paragraph?
A.It has little impact on local economies.
B.It focuses on interactions with travelers.
C.It discourages travelers from learning about history.
D.It may contribute to the preservation of traditional crafts.
3. What does the underlined word “feasible” mean in this context?
A.desirable B.affordable C.practical D.classical
4. What can be inferred about the future of slow travel?
A.It will cost less as time passes.
B.It will only be accessible to rich travelers.
C.It may become more popular in the future.
D.It will take the place of traditional tourism entirely.
B 2. D 3. C 4. C
根据第二段中的“One of the key principles of slow travel is to reduce environmental impact. By choosing to stay in locally-owned accommodations, eating at family-run restaurants, and using public transportation or bicycles, travelers can greatly decrease their carbon footprint. (慢旅行的核心原则之一是减少环境影响。通过选择入住当地经营的住宿、在家庭经营的餐厅用餐、使用公共交通或自行车,旅行者能大幅降低碳足迹。)”可知,慢旅行能减少环境影响、降低碳足迹,具备更环保的优势。故选B项。
2. 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“In some rural areas, ‘slow travel’ has helped preserve (保存) endangered crafts and save dying traditions. (在一些农村地区,‘慢旅行’助力保护濒危手工艺,挽救濒临消失的传统。)”可知,慢旅行对传统手工艺的保护有积极作用,可能有助于传统手工艺的传承。故选D项。
3. 词句猜测题。根据第四段中的“Additionally, slow travel may not be feasible for everyone due to time or budget (预算) limit. For busy professionals or families with limited vacation days, spending weeks in a single destination may seem unrealistic. (此外,受时间或预算限制,慢旅行可能并非对所有人都feasible。对于工作繁忙的职场人士或假期有限的家庭来说,在一个目的地待数周似乎不现实。)”可知,对于工作繁忙的职场人士或假期有限的家庭来说,在一个目的地待数周似乎不现实,因此慢旅行可能并非对所有人是切实可行的。故划线词与C选项“practical(切实可行的)”为同义词。故选C项。
根据第五段中的“Despite these challenges, the slow travel movement continues to grow. Travelers are becoming more aware of their environmental and cultural impact, and many are seeking more authentic and sustainable ways to explore the world. As a result, travel companies are starting to offer more slow-travel options, such as longer home-stays and cultural experience programs. (尽管面临诸多挑战,慢旅行运动仍在持续发展。旅行者们越来越意识到自身对环境和文化的潜在影响,许多人正在寻求更真实且可持续的方式来探索世界。因此,旅游公司也开始提供更多慢旅行的选项,比如更长的民宿住宿和文化体验项目。)”可知,慢旅行趋势在发展,旅行者需求增加且旅游公司积极配合,由此可推断其未来可能会更受欢迎。故选C项。
Passage 4
(25-26高一上·河南洛阳·阶段检测)In the Kumaon Hills, I saw the real size of a black eagle (鹰) when it landed on an oak tree. The branches bent under its weight. Its wings were about three feet wide. The bird looked less graceful on the tree than when it was flying over the green valley. Sitting on a high spot in the mountains, I drank a cup of chai and saw the dark tips of its wings.
Most people think of the Himalayas as very high mountains with hard climbs. But my trip to Uttarakhand showed me a softer side. Travelers came to this little-known corner near Nepal not to climb mountains but to see birds.
The next morning, I met a guide named Deepak Joshi. He told me how climate change has changed the birds. “Usually the birds come back in April,” Deepak said. “But this year they started coming back in February. It’s a big difference.” Deepak took photos of birds in Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary for his work.
Although the area is only 20 square miles, it is famous for its large population of 200 bird species, including several types of eagles, woodpeckers and the giant Himalayan vulture. Because the south of India is getting hotter and more birds are moving north, these hills now have even more kinds of birds.
Later, I walked the paths that connect Khali Estate with village guesthouses. Another guide, Hem Joshi, joined me. He was very good at finding birds. He showed me a parakeet in a pine tree and pointed out a serpent eagle flying above us.
We passed the village of Dalar. “I hope tourism will help families stay in the mountains instead of moving to the cities for work,” Hem said. From his house, I saw the snow-covered Himalayas. The view was so beautiful that I felt lucky to see both nature and the life of this special land.
1. Why did the travelers come to Uttarakhand?
A.To enjoy local foods. B.To climb mountains.
C.To watch birds. D.To explore Nepal’s culture.
2. What can we know about the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary?
A.It is home to many kinds of birds. B.It is crowded in summer.
C.It covers over 20 square miles. D.It offers the locals well-paid jobs.
3. What can be inferred about Hem in the last paragraph?
A.He had to part with his family. B.He was tired of seeing the views.
C.He planned to move to a big city. D.He preferred living in the mountains.
4. What is the text mainly about?
A.A warm-hearted visitor. B.An unforgettable experience.
C.An admirable tour guide. D.A snow-covered mountain.
C 2. A 3. D 4. B
根据第二段中的“But my trip to Uttarakhand showed me a softer side. Travelers came to this little-known corner near Nepal not to climb mountains but to see birds. (但我的北阿坎德邦之旅让我看到了它更温婉的一面。游客们来到这个靠近尼泊尔、鲜为人知的角落,不是为了登山,而是为了观鸟)”可知,游客来到北阿坎德邦的目的是观鸟。故选C项。
2. 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Although the area is only 20 square miles, it is famous for its large population of 200 bird species, including several types of eagles, woodpeckers and the giant Himalayan vulture. (尽管这片区域只有20平方英里,但它因拥有200种鸟类的庞大种群而闻名,其中包括多种鹰类、啄木鸟以及高山兀鹫)”可知,宾萨尔野生动物保护区是多种鸟类的栖息地。故选A项。
根据最后一段中的““I hope tourism will help families stay in the mountains instead of moving to the cities for work,” Hem said.
Passage 5
(25-26高一上·浙江温州·期末)I’m still amazed I didn’t drop dead from awkwardness during my first solo (独自的) travel experience. As a 20-year-old, I booked an unplanned trip to Darwin in Australia. I didn’t want to go alone, but none of my friends had the time or money to go with me.
Everything went wrong from the start. Poor planning landed me in a shared room with two German men who didn’t speak English. On a guided tour of Kakadu National Park, I fell for every joke my Australian guide played on me. Dining alone was the worst. I felt like a loser when I requested a table for one. I was certain everyone was watching me, wondering if I was single, or simply friendless.
It turned out someone was watching me. During my last solo supper in Australia, a British woman came over. “I’m sorry, but I just have to say something,” she said. “I think you’re unbelievably brave. I’ve seen you around town this week and you look like you’re having so much fun. I wish I had the courage to travel on my own like you.”
It took a while for her words to really hit me, but during my next 21 years of traveling solo, I heard people express the same feeling again and again.
I became a solo traveler out of necessity, rather than choice: As a travel writer I spend a lot of time on my own. Also, as my friends got busy with their own lives, I discovered I had to travel solo if I wanted to travel at all. I quickly learned to love it, though — and now, I have complete freedom to decide what to do and when to do it. Over time, I’ve gained a strong sense of independence, and even learned to appreciate loneliness.
1. What difficulty did the author meet in Darwin?
A.Contacting friends. B.Ordering food at restaurants.
C.Finding a travel guide. D.Communicating with roommates.
2. How did the woman feel about the author?
A.Appreciative. B.Pitiful. C.Doubtful. D.Curious.
3. What made the author fall in love with solo travel?
A.Personal growth. B.Work requirements.
C.Strangers’ praise. D.Friends’ encouragement.
4. What does the author want to express in the passage?
A.A detailed plan matters. B.Loneliness makes us complete.
C.Travelling alone is worth a try. D.Solo travel is for the independent.
D 2. A 3. A 4. C
根据第二段“Poor planning landed me in a shared room with two German men who didn’t speak English. (计划不周让我和两个不会说英语的德国男人住在一个房间里)”可知,作者在达尔文遇到的困难是和室友沟通不畅。故选D项。
2. 推理判断题。根据第三段“I think you’re unbelievably brave. I’ve seen you around town this week and you look like you’re having so much fun. I wish I had the courage to travel on my own like you. (我觉得你非常勇敢。这周我在镇上见过你,你看起来玩得很开心。我希望我能像你一样有独自旅行的勇气)”可知,这位女士对作者是感激、欣赏的。故选A项。
根据最后一段“I quickly learned to love it, though — and now, I have complete freedom to decide what to do and when to do it. Over time, I’ve gained a strong sense of independence, and even learned to appreciate loneliness. (不过,我很快就学会了爱上它——现在,我有了完全的自由来决定做什么以及什么时候做。随着时间的推移,我获得了强烈的独立感,甚至学会了欣赏孤独)”可知,个人成长让作者爱上了独自旅行。故选A项。
Passage 6
(25-26高一上·浙江·阶段检测)When Jewel opened at Singapore’s Changi Airport six years ago, its greenery and waterfalls amazed everyone. The already world-famous airport was transforming (转换) itself into a destination for visitors. However, turning an airport into a destination is hard, especially while respecting local culture. The key is to make these global gateways local.
New airport terminals (机场航站楼) make every effort to highlight their locations. The architecture is often inspired by nearby mountains or the beach. Popular local cafes and shops are moving into the terminal. And everything is often locally themed. Yantai Penglai International Airport in China features curves and materials that “echo (呼应) the nature all around the structure”.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) expanded the concept of local design across the entire Harvey Milk Terminal 1. Doug Yakel, a public information officer at SFO, explains that even if travelers aren’t going into the city, they can briefly experience what San Francisco and the Bay Area represent. He highlights the local-themed concessions, art, and quiet areas with chaise lounges.
Turning the airport into a destination takes the idea of a local one-stop further. Portland International Airport (PDX) first achieved this in the late 1980s, when it opened the Oregon Market shopping mall. Over the years, the hallway hosted many local brands that were popular even with non-travelers until it closed in 2019 for a new terminal. ZGF architects designed the terminal to mimic a walk in the forest, with open views that highlight Portland’s natural surroundings. While PDX lacks exact data on non-traveler visits, short-term parking receipts (停车收据) have risen since the terminal’s August 2024 opening.
Like others, Denver International Airport is trying to copy at least some of Changi’s success. But whether its remote location — 20 miles from downtown can attract locals remains an open question.
1. Why does the author mention Yantai Penglai International Airport?
A.To compare it with Changi Airport in terms of popularity.
B.To show how airports use local natural features in their design.
C.To explain why Chinese airports are more modern than others.
D.To tell the importance of international cooperation in design.
2. What does the increase in short-term parking receipts at PDX suggest?
A.The new terminal has caused traffic jams.
B.The airport is attracting more local visitors.
C.The parking fees at the airport have gone up.
D.More travelers are choosing to drive to the airport.
3. What can be inferred about Denver International Airport?
A.Its local people have a strong passion for its change.
B.Its plan is to shift the terminal closer to Changi Airport.
C.Its far-from-town site may lessen its appeal to nearby locals.
D.Its yearly visitor number has already gone beyond Changi’s footfall.
4. What is the text mainly about?
A.Why International Airports are promoting tourism
B.Why airports are making themselves destinations for visitors
C.How airport terminals are making attempts to stress their locations
D.How airports are changing themselves into destinations for visitors
B 2. B 3. C 4. D
根据第二段“New airport terminals (机场航站楼) make every effort to highlight their locations. The architecture is often inspired by nearby mountains or the beach. Popular local cafes and shops are moving into the terminal. And everything is often locally themed. Yantai Penglai International Airport in China features curves and materials that “echo (呼应) the nature all around the structure”.
根据第四段“While PDX lacks exact data on non-traveler visits, short-term parking receipts (停车收据) have risen since the terminal’s August 2024 opening. (虽然PDX缺乏关于非旅行者访问的确切数据,但自2024年8月航站楼开放以来,短期停车收据有所增加。)”可知,自新航站楼开放以来,短期停车收据有所增加,由此可推知,这表明机场吸引了更多的当地游客前来参观,导致停车需求增加。故选B项。
3. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Like others, Denver International Airport is trying to copy at least some of Changi’s success. But whether its remote location — 20 miles from downtown can attract locals remains an open question. (和其他机场一样,丹佛国际机场也试图至少复制一些樟宜机场的成功经验。但是,它距离市中心20英里的偏远位置能否吸引当地人,仍是一个悬而未决的问题。)”可知,丹佛国际机场距离市中心较远,这可能会降低其对当地人的吸引力,因此其能否吸引当地人仍是一个未知数。故选C项。
4. 主旨大意题。根据第一段“When Jewel opened at Singapore’s Changi Airport six years ago, its greenery and waterfalls amazed everyone. The already world-famous airport was transforming (转换) itself into a destination for visitors. However, turning an airport into a destination is hard, especially while respecting local culture. The key is to make these global gateways local. (六年前,当Jewel在新加坡樟宜机场开业时,它的绿色植物和瀑布让每个人都惊叹不已。这个已经闻名世界的机场正在把自己变成一个游客目的地。然而,将机场转变为游客目的地并非易事,尤其是在尊重当地文化的同时。关键是要让这些全球门户变得本地化。)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要讲述了机场如何通过融入当地特色,将自己转变为游客目的地,介绍了多个机场的具体做法及成效。故选D项。
Passage 7
(25-26高一上·山东东营·期末)“Reduce, reuse, recycle”, these are the three Rs that waste environmental activists have advocated (提倡). But how can we realize them? Recently, this idea came to life in China in a smart way at the Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring scenic spot in Dunhuang, Northwest China’s Gansu Province.
During the tourist season, the scenic spot of Dunhuang has been flooded with visitors — around 20, 000 a day since July. The challenge of managing waste has become more pressing. In response, the scenic area has introduced an initiative (倡议): “Trash hunt for gifts.” Here’s how it works: Visitors are given trash bags and encouraged to pick up litter around the site. In return, they receive small gifts featuring Dunhuang’s rich cultural heritage.
Inspired by the initiative, I thought, “Isn’t this another splendid form of the three Rs principle?” I still remember going to some scenic spots, especially historical sites where people gather in a small area, and seeing how littering is something we always have to struggle with. Not only does it influence the cleanliness of a site, but it also threatens the natural environment. Once I saw a family who had just arrived, eagerly filling their trash bags with litter. The children were excited to trade their collected trash for gifts, and their parents proudly explained how their small actions contributed to a cleaner, more enjoyable experience for everyone. This interaction created a sense of community and shared purpose among the visitors.
The “Trash hunt for gifts” campaign (活动) does more than just cleaning up the area. It turns every visitor into an environmental activist, taking an active part in preserving the beauty of the site. This concept is also not unique to Dunhuang. Similar initiatives are seen across China: in Jiangxi’s Wu-kung Mountain, in Northeast China’s Xi’an Lin Tong, all around. These efforts highlight a growing trend (趋势) where tourists don’t just visit — they contribute. As we continue to explore and enjoy these natural wonders, it’s encouraging to see that many are also stepping up to protect them.
1. Why has the initiative “Trash hunt for gifts” been introduced in Dunhuang’s scenic spot?
A.To relieve the pressure of cleaning-up. B.To control the number of flooding tourists.
C.To raise the awareness of wildlife protection. D.To promote the development of local economy.
2. Why does the author mention a family in the third paragraph?
A.To explain how the initiative works.
B.To show that his thought was wrong at first.
C.To prove that the initiative is really a good idea.
D.To highlight the good education given to the children.
3. Which is true according to the text?
A.Dunhuang is not alone in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”.
B.Dunhuang takes the lead in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”.
C.Dunhuang is catching up in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”.
D.Dunhuang teams up with other places in the campaign “Trash hunt for gifts”.
4. Which is the best title of the text?
A.A promising step towards a shared future. B.A new rule on turning tourists into volunteers.

根据第二段中“During the tourist season, the scenic spot of Dunhuang has been flooded with visitors — around 20, 000 a day since July. The challenge of managing waste has become more pressing. In response, the scenic area has introduced an initiative: ‘Trash hunt for gifts.’ (旅游旺季期间,敦煌景区游客络绎不绝——自7月起,日均游客量已达约2万人次。垃圾处理的难题也随之变得愈发紧迫。为应对这一情况,景区推出了一项名为‘捡垃圾换礼品’的倡议。)”可知,景区推出“捡垃圾换礼品”倡议的目的是想要缓解垃圾清理工作的压力。故选A。
根据第三段“Inspired by the initiative, I thought, ‘Isn’t this another splendid form of the three Rs principle?’ I still remember going to some scenic spots, especially historical sites where people gather in a small area, and seeing how littering is something we always have to struggle with.
根据第四段中“This concept is also not unique to Dunhuang. Similar initiatives are seen across China (而且这一理念并非敦煌独有,在国内多地都能看到类似的举措)”可知,敦煌并不是唯一一个参与“捡垃圾换礼品”活动的城市。故选A。
根据最后一段中“The ‘Trash hunt for gifts’ campaign does more than just cleaning up the area. It turns every visitor into an environmental activist, taking an active part in preserving the beauty of the site… These efforts highlight a growing trend where tourists don’t just visit— they contribute.
Passage 8
(25-26高一上·贵州毕节·阶段检测)Pandas live only in Southwest China’s mountains, feeding on bamboo. They carry rich symbolic meaning in Chinese culture and are widely considered adorable. “Their natural habitat is distant, but we can now enjoy giant snow-sculptures (雪雕) of these gentle creatures,” said Goran Knezevic, a ski lift operator (索道操作员) at the Olympic Center Jahorina near Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Knezevic and his colleague Jelena Stanisic created the five-meter-tall sculpture of a panda and four cubs. Knezevic, known locally for snow-sculptures like penguins and gorillas, had never built on this scale. The “Panda Family” took nearly a week due to uncooperative weather. Weather changes caused the snow to compress (压缩), losing almost two meters in height. “We had to give up the original sitting design and improvise (即兴创作),” Knezevic explained, noting that climbing the slippery snow pile and shaping with poor-quality snow were the biggest challenges.
The sculpture became an instant hit on Jahorina Mountain, site of the 1984 Winter Olympics. The ski center attracts up to 150,000 visitors per season. “Visitors are overjoyed, especially children. The “Panda Family” has become a popular spot for selfies and photos,” said Knezevic. He emphasized that in an era of technology and social distancing, spending creative time in nature is more important than ever.
“To me, a panda symbolizes peace, victory, and friendship — unique, adorable, and exotic,” Knezevic said. An online search for China’s Harbin Ice Snow Sculpture Festival inspired (启发) him to build large snow sculptures. He used acrylic paint for the panda’s black spots. Pandas symbolize strength, peace, and harmony in Chinese culture, with their black and white seen as a balance of Yin and Yang.
Stanisic remarked that visitors’ excitement exceeded expectations. “Nature gave us abundant snow, and we allowed ourselves to be childish for a moment. Growing into a good adult is the goal, but happiness lies in keeping that inner child alive,” she said.
1. What was the main challenge in building the “Panda Family” snow sculpture?
A.Finding enough high-quality snow.
B.The changeable weather and poor snow condition.
C.Designing the sitting posture of the pandas.
D.Getting permission from the Olympic Center.
2. Why did Goran Knezevic choose to create a panda snow sculpture?
A.Because pandas are the national animal of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
B.Because he wanted to promote environmental protection.
C.Because children at the ski center requested a panda sculpture.
D.Because he saw giant ice sculptures online from a festival in China.
3. According to the passage, what does the panda symbolize in Chinese culture?
A.Only peace and friendship.
B.Strength, peace, harmony, and the balance of Yin and Yang.
C.Technological progress and modern art.
D.Winter sports and Olympic spirit.
4. What is the main purpose of the author in writing this article?
A.To introduce the living habits of pandas in Southwest China.
B.To promote the Olympic Center Jahorina as a tourist destination.
C.To report a creative snow sculpture project with its Chinese culture.
D.To compare different snow sculpture techniques between China and Bosnia.
B 2. D 3. B 4. C

According to media reports, the Henan Museum received more than 12,000 visitors in the summer of 2025, nearly double that of the same period in 2021. The Hangzhou Museum recorded 12,800 visitors on July 16, 2025, setting a new daily attendance record. In response to the growing need, 46 museums in Beijing canceled their Monday closures and remained open daily until August 31, 2025.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the “museum fever” can be caused by various factors, including the public’s increasing enthusiasm for traditional Chinese culture, the increasing market for youth educational tours and summer camps, as well as the continuous development of museums.

Passage 10
(25-26高一上·湖北襄阳·阶段检测)One 14th of July, I was attending a baseball game with friends. The evening was warm, the beer was cold, and the fireworks were spectacular. And then suddenly a firework flew into the flag. The crowd turned angry and began shouting. One man nearby had tears in his eyes. Just like a similar accident in 2014, setting the Stars and Stripes (条) on fire with fireworks is not a good idea.
April 2018 marks the 200th year of Congress’s formal adoption of the present “design” — 13 stripes representing the union’s original 13 states, and a changing number of stars representing the present states. It allows the flag to be immediately recognizable that the number of stars changes while the number of stripes remains fixed. But even though the flag is two centuries old, it’s remarkably powerful as a national symbol.
Anyone who has travelled to the US will know how ubiquitous the flag is. It is seen in houses and front yards, flies from cars, and hangs from bridges; school children practise raising and lowering it. Federal law announces that it must be flown from all public buildings.
The United States Flag Code goes into detail. In 50 long articles, it lists everything from when, where and how the flag can be displayed to the methods of dealing with old flags.
Americans care so much about the Stars and Stripes because it plays a unique and supreme role in their culture. When making a vow (宣誓), Americans do not first swear their devotion to the country, but “to the Flag of the United States of America”. The national song, The Star Spangled Banner, celebrates not the nation, but the flag.
1. Why did the crowd turn angry and begin shouting?
A.Because the beer was cold.
B.Because the game was boring.
C.Because their national flag was set on fire.
D.Because a similar accident happened in 2014.
2. What does the underlined word “ubiquitous” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Common. B.Unique. C.Beautiful. D.Pleasant.
3. What can we infer about the Stars and Stripes?
A.The number of its stripes remains fixed.
B.Americans think it of great importance.
C.It’s also called the Star Spangled Banner.
D.It has lost its influence after 200 years.
4. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.The Stars and Stripes — A Changing Flag
B.The Stars and Stripes — Flying All Around
C.The Stars and Stripes — Burning With Tears
D.The Stars and Stripes — A Powerful Symbol
C 2. A 3. B 4. D
根据第一段中“And then suddenly a firework flew into the flag. The crowd turned angry and began shouting. (然后突然一个烟花飞到了国旗上。人群变得愤怒并开始大喊大叫)”可知,人群愤怒和大喊大叫是因为他们的国旗被点燃了。
2. 词句猜测题。根据第三段“Anyone who has travelled to the US will know how ubiquitous the flag is. It is seen in houses and front yards, flies from cars, and hangs from bridges; school children practise raising and lowering it. Federal law announces that it must be flown from all public buildings. (任何去过美国的人都知道这面国旗是多么的ubiquitous。它在房屋和前院被看到,从汽车上飘扬,悬挂在桥梁上;学校儿童练习升降它。联邦法律宣布它必须在所有公共建筑上悬挂)”可知,美国国旗随处可见。故划线词ubiquitous意为“无处不在的;随处可见的”,与“Common”同义。
3. 推理判断题。根据第四段“The United States Flag Code goes into detail. In 50 long articles, it lists everything from when, where and how the flag can be displayed to the methods of dealing with old flags. (美国国旗法非常详细。在50篇长文中,它列出了从何时、何地、如何展示国旗到处理旧国旗的方法等所有内容)”和第五段“Americans care so much about the Stars and Stripes because it plays a unique and supreme role in their culture. (美国人非常关心星条旗,因为它在他们的文化中扮演着独特而至高无上的角色)”可知,美国人非常重视星条旗。
4. 主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中烟花点燃国旗的事件,以及第二段中“even though the flag is two centuries old, it’s remarkably powerful as a national symbol. (尽管国旗已有两个世纪的历史,但它作为一个国家象征仍然非常强大)”和第五段中“Americans care so much about the Stars and Stripes because it plays a unique and supreme role in their culture. (美国人非常关心星条旗,因为它在他们的文化中扮演着独特而至高无上的角色)”可知,文章通过国旗被点燃的事件引出话题,随后介绍了美国国旗的设计历史、普及程度以及其作为国家象征的重要地位。因此,D项“The Stars and Stripes — A Powerful Symbol(星条旗——强大的象征)”能概括文章内容,是最佳标题。
Passage 11
(24-25高一上·江苏南京·期中)Visiting a museum or going on a study tour is a quickly growing social activity, which has significantly increased footfalls at major museums. This situation has prompted many museums to extend their opening hours. What’s more, the visitors include not just history and archeology (考古) lovers, but also an increasing number of ordinary people.
All this suggests the cultural tourism field is showing strong recovery, which has sped up the mix of culture and tourism. However, the rapidly rising footfalls present new challenges for the museums, as they have to cater to the visitors’ demand for special cultural services and take measures to support school research better.
The Suzhou Museum in Jiangsu province offers an example of how museums can adapt to deal with the onrush of visitors. Firstly, the museums should expand their roles beyond the traditional field of education and research, and join the local tourism area. In 2007, the Suzhou Museum conducted a survey of visitors through a questionnaire, which showed that the most of the visitors were young well-educated people who were very active on social media. And social media users influence people’s travel habits or decisions, giving rise to popular things such as “city walks”. Based on this insight, the museum published a pocketbook providing information on both its collections and local tourist spots in Suzhou.
Second, the application of digital technology can improve changes in the cultural area. Some museums have also found new ways of interacting with online visitors. 3D virtual modeling and digitalized exhibitions can give visitors the chance to explore museums from a distance.
Third, there is a growing trend of cross-border integration of cultural and educational resources. Politics encourages students to visit museums, improving their historical knowledge through school-related lessons.
Last but not least, museums must also cater to elderly visitors, who make up over 20% of China’s population. The Suzhou Museum carried out a survey of more than 800 people aged 60 or above through questionnaires and interviews last year to understand their preferences and develop age-friendly services. These include making places easy to reach, providing efficient medical services, and displaying artworks in ways that reduce physical effort for all visitors.
Only by paying attention to the real needs of the people can museums provide better cultural offerings and services.
1. What does the underlined phrase “cater to” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Satisfy. B.Afford. C.Support. D.Help.
2. Who are likely to visit museums most according to the survey conducted in 2007?
A.Art and photography fans.
B.History and archeology lovers.
C.International exchanges students.
D.Young, well-educated social media users.
3. How did the Suzhou Museum adapt to the increase in visitors?
A.By extending opening hours. B.By meeting different requirements.
C.By focusing on academic researches. D.By providing more educational resources.
4. What’s the purpose of this passage?
A.To develop tourism in Jiangsu province.
B.To describe the present state of museums.
C.To discuss the challenges faced by museums.
D.To explain how museums rise to the challenges.
A 2. D 3. B 4. D
根据划线词后文 “the visitors’ demand for special cultural services and take measures to support school research better.(游客对特色文化服务的需求,并采取措施更好地支持学校的研究活动)”可知,cater to后接的宾语是“游客的需求”,结合语境判断其含义为“满足”,与satisfy同义。故选A项。
根据第三段中的“In 2007, the Suzhou Museum conducted a survey of visitors through a questionnaire, which showed that the most of the visitors were young well-educated people who were very active on social media.(2007年,苏州博物馆通过问卷调查的方式对游客进行了调研,结果显示大多数游客是在社交媒体上非常活跃的年轻高学历人群)”可知,2007年的调查显示最有可能参观博物馆的是年轻、高学历且活跃于社交媒体的人群。故选D项。
根据第三段中的“Based on this insight, the museum published a pocketbook providing information on both its collections and local tourist spots in Suzhou.(基于这一见解,博物馆出版了一本袖珍手册,提供其藏品和苏州当地旅游景点的信息)”,第四段中的“Second, the application of digital technology can improve changes in the cultural area.(其次,数字技术的应用可以促进文化领域的变化)”,第五段中的“Third, there is a growing trend of cross-border integration of cultural and educational resources. (三是文教资源跨界整合趋势日益明显)”和第六段中的“ The Suzhou Museum carried out a survey of more than 800 people aged 60 or above through questionnaires and interviews last year to understand their preferences and develop age-friendly services. (去年,苏州博物馆通过问卷和访谈对800多名60岁或以上的老人进行了调查,以了解他们的喜好,并开发老年人友好服务)”可知,苏州博物馆通过发布包含馆藏和当地景点的手册、应用数字技术、整合文化教育资源、推出适老化服务,即通过满足不同群体的需求来适应客流量的增长。故选B项。
4. 推理判断题。根据第二段中的“However, the rapidly rising footfalls present new challenges for the museums, as they have to cater to the visitors’ demand for special cultural services and take measures to support school research better.(然而,快速增长的客流量给博物馆带来了新的挑战,因为它们必须满足游客对特殊文化服务的需求,并采取措施更好地支持学校研究)”以及后文列举的苏州博物馆的多种应对措施,可知本文的目的是说明博物馆如何应对客流量增长带来的挑战。故选D项。

1. Why is Machu Picchu popular with travelers?
A.It’s easy to reach. B.The air is thin there.
C.It’s a new destination. D.It has wonderful views.
2. What shows the Incas’ advanced building skills in Machu Picchu?
A.Using little mortar. B.Stones fitting perfectly.
C.High building position. D.Having light structures.
3. What is the author’s attitude towards Machu Picchu’s popularity?
A.Interested but doubtful. B.Fully supportive.
C.Completely negative. D.Positive but worried.
4. What is the main purpose of the Peruvian leaders’ actions?
A.To earn more money from tourism. B.To make Machu Picchu more popular.
C.To reduce harm to the ancient structures. D.To change the location of Machu Picchu.

C.Tourists not only visit but also contribute.
D.Tourism full of both opportunities and challenges.
Passage 9
(23-24高一上·江苏苏州·期中)During the summer holiday, visiting museums has become a new fashion, with several famous museums being considered as “must-visit” places by visitors. Tourists were seen queuing for long hours in front of museums and getting entrance ticket became more challenging.
Lin Liugen, the director of the Institute of Archaeology at Zhejiang University, said the “museum craze” reflects a deep connection between the public and traditional culture. As the economy and society progress, more people want to have a deeper understanding of China’s rich culture and history.
Summer camps, family trips and educational tours have been the primary forms of tourism in the summer of 2025, with museum visits becoming a must-do activity for travelers. Besides, the application of new technologies has made cultural relics (文物) easier to reach. For instance, 3D projection technology breathes life into those relics, enabling them to come alive before visitors’ eyes. AR glasses offer a special experience by allowing visitors to enjoy relics through voice commands and visual recognition. Additionally, an advanced intelligent lighting system helps display relics more clearly and vividly.
Liu Yanchang, the curator (馆长) of the Shandong Museum, said “In the future, more and more people will take visiting museums as a kind of habit and lifestyle.” On how to better meet museumgoers’ needs, Sun Mingli, deputy curator of the Suzhou Museum, says that popular museums may consider using hourly booking systems or hosting “cloud exhibitions” to improve the visitor experience.
1. According to the text, what is one of the reasons for the increase of museum visits?
A.The public prefer traditional Chinese culture to modern culture.
B.The museums remain open daily during the summer holiday.
C.The public see visiting museums as a good way to educate youth.

3. According to Sun Mingli, what can museums do to provide better service?
A.Include more technologies in museum displays.
B.Improve the booking system or online displays.
C.Limit the number of daily visitors in museums.
D.Require museumgoers to make earlier bookings.
4. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Museum Visits Improve Youth Education.
B.Visitors Expect More From Future Museums.
C.Cultural Relics Become Easier to Reach.
D.China Sees Museum Fever During Summer.
