A Different Lunch Break
During a skills training week, several students found that they were often tired after lunch. They usually bought fried snacks and sweet milk tea near the school gate. The food tasted good, but afternoon practice became difficult. Hands moved slowly, and simple steps sometimes went wrong.
One day, the training teacher asked the group to record what they ate for three days. The record showed a clear problem: there was too much sugar and oil, but not enough vegetables or water. The teacher did not blame anyone. Instead, the teacher invited the school clinic to give a short lesson on balanced meals. Students learned that a proper lunch should give energy without making the body too heavy.
The next week, the group tried a new lunch plan. They chose rice, vegetables, eggs and soup. They still enjoyed snacks sometimes, but they did not take them as the main meal. At first, some students missed sweet drinks. Later, warm water and fruit became normal choices. Afternoon practice improved, and fewer mistakes appeared. The experience showed them that food choices can change learning and work performance.
26. Why did afternoon practice become difficult at first?
A. Students had no skills training.
B. Students never ate lunch.
C. Students often ate fried snacks and sweet drinks.
D. Students practised only in the morning.

A. Buy more snacks.
B. Stop all practice.
C. Change schools.
D. Record what they ate for three days.
28. What does the underlined word “blame” mean?

B. 表扬
C. 指路
D. 等待
29. What became normal choices later?
A. Fried chicken and cola.
B. Warm water and fruit.
C. Candy and ice cream.
D. Fast food and coffee.
30. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to open a snack shop.
B. Why skills training is useless.
C. How better food choices improved practice.
D. Why students should drink only milk tea.
【答案】26. C 27. D 28. A 29. B 30. C
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述学生在技能训练周因午餐不合理导致下午练习状态差,之后通过记录饮食并调整午餐结构改善练习表现的经历。

Why Handwashing Still Matters
Handwashing is a simple action, but it is one of the most useful ways to protect health. People touch desks, tools, phones, door handles and many other things every day. Germs may stay on these things, and they can enter the body when people touch the mouth, nose or eyes with dirty hands. This is why handwashing matters in schools, workshops, kitchens and hospitals.
Good handwashing needs correct steps. First, wet the hands with clean running water. Then use soap and rub the palms, backs of hands, fingers and nails. The rubbing time should be at least twenty seconds, because soap needs time to carry germs away from the skin. After that, wash off the soap and dry the hands with a clean towel or paper.
People should wash hands before eating, before cooking, after using the toilet, after coughing, and after touching public things. In vocational training rooms, students may share tools, so handwashing is also part of safety. Although it cannot solve every health problem, it can greatly reduce the chance of many common illnesses. Building this habit is not difficult, and it shows responsibility for both personal health and public safety.
31. How can germs enter the body according to Paragraph 1?
A. By reading health books.
B. By walking in the park.
C. By drinking warm water.
D. By touching the mouth, nose or eyes with dirty hands.
32. How long should people rub their hands with soap at least?
A. Five seconds.
B. Ten seconds.
C. Twenty seconds.
D. One minute.
33. What does the underlined word “reduce” mean?
A. 减少
B. 增加
C. 忘记
D. 记录
34. Why is handwashing important in vocational training rooms?
A. Students only cook there.
B. Students may share tools.
C. Students cannot use towels.
D. Students have no classes there.
35. What is the purpose of the passage?
A. To sell soap to students.
B. To compare different hospitals.
C. To introduce a new phone.
D. To explain the importance and steps of handwashing.
【答案】31. D 32. C 33. A 34. B 35. D

33.词义猜测题。句意说明洗手可大大降低常见疾病机会,因此reduce意为“减少”。

Text 3
