第一节(共22.5分)
阅读下列短文,从下面每小题的A、B、C、D四个选项中选择最佳选项。
A
Since 2012, China has achieved something amazing: it has added more than 1 million hectares (公顷) of wetlands. This means it restored an area as large as London every two years. Now, the country has over 56 million hectares of wetlands in total. To protect these areas, China has set up more than 2,200 wetland nature reserves, and the environment there has improved greatly.
Wetlands are very important. Although they cover only 6% of the Earth’s land, they are home to 40% of all plant and animal species. They also provide us with clean water, control floods, and help store carbon.
Among China’s actions, mangrove (红树林) protection stands out. In the past five years, the country has planted over 8,800 hectares of mangroves and restored another 8,200 hectares. Thanks to this, China’s mangrove area has increased by about 40% since the early 2000s, making it one of the few countries with a net gain. An expert said, “Restoring mangroves is one of the most cost-effective ways to fight climate change.” To encourage global cooperation, China set up the International Mangrove Center in Shenzhen in December.
Another key step is dealing with an invasive (侵略性的) plant called Spartina alterniflora (互花米草). This plant harms coastal ecosystems by slowing water flow and killing native species, which leaves birds with less food. Since a special action plan started in 2022, about 90% of the affected areas have been treated, successfully stopping its spread.
Besides, China has 903 national wetland parks. These parks not only protect 2.4 million hectares of wetlands but have also created more than 50 billion yuan for local economies. About 90% of them are free for everyone to visit. These parks show how China is successfully protecting nature while bringing benefits to people. Looking ahead, China will continue to carry out its Wetland Protection Law and develop new models like “wetland culture-tourism”.

Typhoon Ragasa (桦加沙) is this year’s 18th typhoon. It first caused damage in the Philippines (菲律宾) and then came to China. On September 24th, it arrived in Yangjiang city in Guangdong province with strong winds and heavy rain. Many people in Guangdong had to move to safer places.
Although the typhoon’s main path was in southern China, it also brought rain to Zhejiang province. Schools and factories in some areas closed, and some trains stopped running.
A typhoon is a strong storm that forms over warm ocean water. The water needs to be at least 26℃. The warm water rises into the air and creates wind. Because the Earth spins (旋转), the air starts to rotate (旋转), making the storm spin.
When a typhoon moves over land, it loses its warm water and becomes weaker. There are different warning signals (预警信号) for typhoons:
·Blue: strong winds possibly Level 8 in 24 hours;
·Yellow: stronger winds possibly Level 8 or higher coming;
·Orange: very strong winds possibly Level 10 in 12 hours;
·Red: extremely strong winds over Level 12 in 6 hours.

C.http://www.game.com D.http://www.weather.com
C
Earth Day has come and gone, but our efforts (努力) to help the planet should continue every day. One thing you could try is cutting down on food waste.
The amount of food you waste may not seem like a lot, but when you add up all the food that families waste around the world, it’s a big problem. About 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted each year! About 33% of food made for humans is never consumed, so this is an area we need to improve.
According to Project Drawdown, “Making uneaten food wastes water, energy, land and money. It also makes greenhouse gases that are bad for the Earth. The food we waste is responsible for (造成) about 8% of CO2, sent into the air.”
Wasting no food is easier said than done, but British cookbook writer Jack Monroe has some ideas for using the food we buy. For example, salad is often wasted because it goes bad quickly. In fact, it can be used to make pesto—a yummy Italian sauce (酱). You can put pesto on bread, eggs, or other things you like. Even banana peels (果皮) can be used to make banana bread.
Monroe’s website is home to no-waste and cheap cooking ideas. If you want to save money and not waste food, do check it out. Last night, I was going to throw away some bread when I thought of Monroe. So I used a machine to turn it into crumbs (面包屑) and put them in the fridge.
Now I have crumbs ready to use. Hopefully, you’ll find Monroe’s ideas as helpful as I did.
21.What can we learn about food waste?
A.It is difficult to solve. B.It is a new problem.
C.It is harmful to our planet. D.It is bad for people’s health.
22.What does the underlined word “consumed” mean?
A.Eaten. B.Loved. C.Sold. D.Wasted.
23.How should we deal with uneaten food according to Jack Monroe?
A.By throwing it away. B.By putting it in the fridge.
C.By turning it into new food. D.By making an Italian sauce with it.
24.Why does the writer mention her own experience in Paragraph 5?
A.To tell readers how to make crumbs. B.To encourage readers to take action.
C.To ask readers to save money. D.To show bread is the most wasted food.
25.What is the best title for the passage?
A.From waste to taste. B.Eat less, waste less.
C.The terrible food waste. D.Activities on Earth Day.

·Blue: strong winds possibly Level 8 in 24 hours;

First, choose green travel. We had better walk, ride a bike or go out by bus. Second, clean up rubbish around us. Don’t throw away rubbish everywhere. We can help clean up the streets in our city. Third, try to save energy. In our daily life, we mustn’t waste any water or electricity. And we should know how to save energy. Finally, protect animals. Animals are our friends, so we should try our best to protect them.
