He put his heart and soul into medicine, only to save the dying and cure the sick. Li was born in 1518 in Hubei. Both his grandfather and father were doctors. Li’s grandfather was a country doctor who travelled from place to place with a bag of herbs (药草). Such doctors were called Lingyi (bell doctors), because they could tell others their arrival by ringing a bell. Li’s father was also a famous doctor in their local area. From childhood, Li went to the mountains with his father to pick herbs, getting wide knowledge about animals, plants and medicine. Although Li’s father hoped his son could get a government job, Li failed the exam three times. He then turned his attention to medicine. At the age of 33, Li became famous for curing Prince Zhu Houkun’s son. A few years later, he was invited to work at the Imperial Medical Institute (太医院) in Beijing. During that time, he read many ancient medical texts, and noticed a mess (混乱) in the naming and categorization (分类) of herbs. To deal with it, he decided to leave his job and devote himself to writing a book about herbs. After that, Li travelled to many places and got much first-hand experience. He also read hundreds of medical books and collected different kinds of herbs. After 27 years of efforts, his first draft (初稿) of Ben Cao Gang Mu was completed in 1578. The book is highly detailed and well-organized and is considered one of the greatest scientific achievements of the Ming Dynasty. 31. Which of the following is TRUE according to paragraph 2? A. Through personal practice. D. By reading many ancient books. 33. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 4 refer to? A. A child’s illness. B. Writing his new book. C. His work in Beijing. D. To deal with it, he decided to leave his job and devote himself to writing a book about herbs.” 根据“After that, Li travelled to many places and got much first-hand experience.” 根据“After 27 years of efforts, his first draft (初稿) of Ben Cao Gang Mu was completed in 1578”以及文章内容可知,他去了很多地方,读了很多本书,经过27年的努力,终于完成了《本草纲目》的初稿,可见他是非常努力的。故选C。 C Do you sometimes pay no attention to your mom while talking with friends? If you’re a teen, that’s quite common. And new research may explain why so many teens tune out (无视) their moms’ voice. Young kids’ brains are very attuned to their mothers’ voices, science has shown. But as kids enter their teenage years, everything changes. Teenagers listen to strangers’ voices more than their own mom’s, a new study has found. “Teens have this whole other class of sounds and voices that they need to listen to,” explained Daniel Abrams from Stanford University School of Medicine in California. He and his team shared their findings this April in Journal of Neuroscience. The researchers studied what happened in the brains of 7-to 16-year-olds as they listened to three words said by their mothers or by strange women. The words had no meaning and were impossible to understand. They were teebudieshawlt, keebudieshawlt and peebudieshawlt. Using them allowed the scientists to study voices on their own, not what they were saying. According to the study, as the kids listened, certain areas of their brains became active. For teens, these brain areas responded (作出反应) more to strange voices than to their moms’. However, it’s not that teenagers purposely (故意地) tune out their mothers’ voices but that their brains become more open to other voices as they grow up. “Just as a baby knows to tune in to his mother’s voice, a teen knows to tune in to new voices,” said Abrams. “As a teen, you don’t know you’re doing this. You’re just being you.” Here’s why. As kids grow up, they become independent and expand (扩大) their social connections outside their family. As a result, their brains begin paying more attention to that wider world. “Both teens and their parents may sometimes feel upset by missed messages. That’s okay,” Abrams said. “This is the way the brain is connected, and there’s a good reason for it.” 36. How does the writer start the passage? A. By telling a story. B. By raising a question. C. By comparing two facts. D. By imagining a situation. 37. What can we learn about the new study from Paragraph 2? A. It was done by a team from a hospital. B. It helped know more about the brain. C. It appeared in a magazine. D. It built on a 2021 study. 38. What does the writer explain to us in Paragraph 3? A. Why the researchers chose kids between 7 and 16 years old. B. Why young kids are tuned in to their mothers’ voices. C. Why everything changes as kids become teenagers. D. Why the researchers used three special words. 39. What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A. The results of the study. B. The process of the study. C. The subjects of the study. D. The meaning of the study. 40. Which of the following would Daniel Abrams most probably agree with? A. Teenagers don’t want to listen to their moms. B. Teenagers depend on strangers more. C. It’s a good thing that kids are interested in all voices. D. It’s a good thing that kids become more independent. B 37. C 38. D 39. A 40. 【36题详解】 第一段“Do you sometimes pay no attention to your mom while talking with friends? 【37题详解】 第二段“He and his team shared their findings this April in Journal of Neuroscience.” 【38题详解】 第三段表明研究人员使用这三个特殊词汇的原因:“Using them allowed the scientists to study voices on their own, not what they were saying.”,说明使用这些词汇是为了单独研究声音本身,排除内容语义的干扰。 【39题详解】 第四段表明研究结果:“According to the study, as the kids listened...but that their brains become more open to other voices as they grow up”,青少年大脑对陌生声音反应更强,同时说明这不是刻意忽略妈妈,是大脑自然变化,整段在介绍研究结果。 【40题详解】 最后一段表明Abrams的观点:“ As kids grow up, they become independent and expand (扩大) their social  connections outside their family...‘That’s okay’...‘and there’s a good reason for it.’ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) D Reading a good book is a wonderful journey because the reader can live in someone else’s world for a while. Reading together with others, known as buddy (同伴) reading, will make this journey even more fantastic. During the journey, the buddies spend time doing a lot of reading activities. This not only adds to the pleasure of reading, but also deepens their understanding of the books. Although it is all right to have students join in buddy reading with same-aged schoolmates, schools usually pair up older students with younger ones. In 2021, Green School started such a program and has achieved a great success. Both younger and older readers in this school have learned a lot from this two-year program. For example, when they listened to each other, they learned to be kind and patient. This experience also provided them with a chance to practise lifelong skills such as exercising leadership or communicating with others. A student called Jason said that reading to a younger buddy was really helpful. He became more confident, as he knew he was a role model for someone. The school also became a closer community. The reading buddies felt more connected as they often met each other. The students were always excited when they saw their buddies pass by in the hallway. Now summer vacation is coming. Yet many of us continue to stay in toxic friendships. ____46____ So how do you know whether a friendship is toxic or not? Here are 3 signs to help you.  ____47____ Generally, when you share your achievements with those around you, they are happy for you. However, toxic friends may act jealously (妒忌地). They may show happiness for your success in front of you but not feel it inside. They try to weaken your confidence by doubting your abilities and making you think that you don’t deserve your success.  Humiliate (羞辱) you in front of others Another sign of a toxic friendship is going too far with joking. Among friends, it’s common for one person to laugh at another, and then the other makes a joke back so everyone laughs together. All this is fine, ____48____  Separate you from others One of the most common things you’ll find in a toxic friendship is that toxic friends might want to control you. They might want to keep an eye on all your activities. ____49____ You may also be driven far from doing the right things at the right time. Although it may be hard to let go of a toxic friendship because you’ve invested so much into it, you need to do so. ____50____ A. Always try to put you down. B. but when the joke starts humiliating the person, that shows a toxic attitude. C. Some of us realize it, while some of us do not. D. They might also prevent you from making new friends. E. Spend more time with those who truly know and value you. C 47. A 48. B 49. D 50. C选项“Some of us realize it, while some of us do not.” A选项“Always try to put you down.” B选项“but when the joke starts humiliating the person, that shows a toxic attitude.” D选项“They might also prevent you from making new friends.” 【50题详解】 前文提出要放下有毒友谊,E选项“Spend more time with those who truly know and value you.” Excuse me, do you know _______________________________________________________________________? 此处应填“where I can buy some medicine”,符合语法结构。 52. 外出旅游,你感叹食物太美味了,可以这样说: How _______________________________________________________________________________________! 【答案】delicious the food is/delicious the food was 【解析】 【详解】本题考查how引导的感叹句结构,句式为“How+形容词+主语+谓语”,此处形容词选用delicious修饰食物food,用来赞叹食物美味;is用于即时感叹,was用于回顾已经吃过的食物,两种写法均符合语境,因此可填delicious the food is/delicious the food was。 53. 你想知道同桌以前是否有戴眼镜,可以这样问他: ___________________________________________________________________________________________? Did you use to wear glasses? 表示“过去常常做某事”的固定搭配是“used to do sth.”,used to变为一般疑问句时,需借助助动词Did置于句首,后面的used必须还原为原形use,即“Did+主语+use to+动词原形……?”;“戴眼镜”表达为wear glasses。故填Did you use to wear glasses。 54. 你想知道朋友新买的衬衫是否是棉质的,可以这样问他: __________________________________________? Is your new shirt made of cotton 【解析】 【详解】根据情境可知,可用一般现在时的一般疑问句来询问。be made of意为“由…… Is your new shirt made of cotton。 55. 老师想知道你学英语的方法,你可以这样回答: I study English by ____________________________________________________________________________. 【答案】listening to English songs/taking notes in class/practicing speaking every day… 【解析】 【详解】题意要求说明学习英语的方法,介词by后需要接动名词形式来表示“通过某种方式”,可以填写合理的学习方式类动名词短语,例如listening to English songs“听英文歌”、taking notes in class“课堂记笔记”、practicing speaking every day“每天练习口语”这类表达都符合语境,这里以常用答案为例,故填listening to English songs/taking notes in class/practicing speaking every day(答案不唯一),合理即可。 Ⅵ. 56. A. Which word can best describe Li Shizhen? A. Proud. B. Popular. C. Hard-working. D. Independent. C Do you sometimes pay no attention to your mom while talking with friends? 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) D Reading a good book is a wonderful journey because the reader can live in someone else’s world for a while.
