Australia,the old-fashioned word "dance"is more and
more often being referred to as a "prom".And for final-
school-year students in all these countries, this event is
the highlight of the school year, just as it is in the USA.
Most countries have some forms of celebration when
students finish high school. After all,it marks the
end of life as a child, and the beginning of life as an
adult."Prom"is expensive to organize and the tickets
can cost the students a lot of money. The tradition is
that students themselves have to raise the money to
pay for it.In some American schools, student unions
save for the event for the four years they spend in high
school.

Hello,everyone.Thank you for coming.On
behalf of the town office,I'm here to share some tips
on what to do if your area is hit by a flood.First,
always stay informed.Listen to the news or weather
reports to find out if a flood is likely to happen. If there's
a flood warning, take it seriously and follow any
instructions given by us local leaders.Next, make sure
you have an emergency bag ready. This should include
things like water,food,batteries,and medicine.Keep
this in a place where you can get it quickly. If your
home is flooded and you need to leave,do so
immediately. And I'd like to remind you that you
should never drive through flooded roads.Just six
inches of water can knock you down, and one foot of
water can sweep away a car.If you can't leave, move to
the highest floor and wait for help.Lastly, stay calm and
help others if you can.Thank you,and stay safe

Good morning, and welcome to my lecture.I
expect every one of you has brought your phone.I
imagine some of you may even open Weibo and post
things if you get bored! But is social media a good or
bad thing for our society?
Today we've known how social media makes us
feel connected to the outside world. We can pay bills and
buy things at the touch of a screen, and do online
learning,improve job skills,discover new things...on
just one social media app.But what about the dark side
of social media?According to some research, social
media can be addictive. It can lead to loneliness,
anxiety,and depression.But personally,it is
particularly worrying that it has replaced the art of
communication for many people.Instead of going to
someone's house for a chat,we now use messages and
emojis to talk with our friends online, taking away
our face-to-face social skills.

Hello everyone!I'd like to talk about an inventor,
James Dyson. His ideas come because he sees things that
could work better, like the hand dryer. But how did he
start?Well,Dyson was born in England in 1947.He
studied art and design before he studied engineering.
When he saw something that didn't work well,he got
upset and worked to improve it.For example, his first
invention was a vehicle with a ball for a wheel. This
made it easier to carry heavy things in the garden and
over rough ground. It was an interesting new use for a
ball. Also, even though he changed majors,he was still
interested in art as well as designing.Take a look at
this photo. What do you see?It looks like a waterfall
made from glass and water, with the water running
up instead of falling down. That's surprising. This was
a piece of art that Dyson made in 2003,called Wrong
