Finding a Place in a Team
A vocational school club prepared for an e-poster competition about majors. At the first meeting, every member wanted to do the same job: choosing pictures. Nobody wanted to collect information because it sounded less exciting. The team almost stopped before it started.
Then the group leader asked everyone to talk about personal strengths. One student was careful with facts, so she chose to collect information from the school website and training rooms. Another student was creative and good at drawing, so he designed the main page. Two students liked chatting with people, and they interviewed classmates from different majors. The last member checked English sentences and made the poster clearer.
During the week, the team met several problems. Some pictures were not suitable, and a few English sentences were too long. Instead of blaming each other, they discussed the problems calmly. They also used a daily plan to finish each part on time. When the poster was shown, it did not have the brightest colors, but it explained the major clearly and won praise from teachers.
The students learned an important lesson. A good team does not need everyone to be the same. It needs people to understand their uniqueness, respect different strengths and take responsibility for shared work.
26. What did every member want to do at first?
A. Check English sentences.
B. Choose pictures.
C. Collect information.
D. Interview teachers.
27. Why did one student collect information?

B. Because she disliked all pictures.
C. Because she wanted to stop the team.
D. Because she could not use a computer.
28. What does the underlined word “blaming” mean?
A. 购买
B. 责备
C. 介绍
D. 预约
29. How did the team finish each part on time?

B. By working without any plan.
C. By asking parents to do it.
D. By using a daily plan.
30. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Team members must have the same strength.
B. Bright colors are the only key to success.
C. Respecting different strengths helps teamwork.
D. Collecting information is useless.
【答案】26. B 27. A 28. B 29. D 30. C

Why Practical English Matters
Practical English is the English people use to solve real problems. It may appear in a self-introduction, a shopping dialogue, a timetable, an e-poster or a short email. For vocational school students, it is closely connected with study, training and future work.
In daily communication, practical English helps people start a conversation politely. A student who can introduce a major clearly may leave a good first impression on visitors. A shop assistant who can ask about size, color and payment can serve customers better. These expressions are not difficult, but they must be used in the right situation.
Practical English also supports thinking skills. When students compare online and offline shopping, they learn to judge price, quality and safety together. When they make a daily plan in English, they learn to arrange tasks in order. When they design an e-poster, they need to choose words that are clear, short and useful for readers who do not have much time.
Some students think practical English is only a few simple sentences. This idea is not correct. Simple sentences can carry important information, and a clear sentence is often better than a long but confusing one. However, students should also learn a few basic complex sentences because they help explain reasons, conditions and results.
The best way to improve practical English is to use it often. Students can begin with classroom role-play, club reports and service activities. As they practise, they will find that English is not just a subject. It is a tool for communication, decision-making and personal growth.
31. According to the passage, practical English is used to ________.
A. avoid all communication
B. buy only foreign goods
C. solve real problems
D. replace skills training
32. What can a shop assistant ask about to serve customers better?
A. Size, color and payment.
B. Weather, history and exams.
C. Passwords and ID numbers.
D. Mountains and rivers.
33. What does designing an e-poster require students to do?
A. Choose clear, short and useful words.
B. Use confusing long sentences.
C. Copy all words from others.
D. Hide important information.
34. Why should students learn a few basic complex sentences?
A. Because they make every text difficult.
B. Because they help explain reasons, conditions and results.
C. Because simple sentences are always wrong.
D. Because they can stop role-play.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The History of Online Shopping
B. Rules for Drawing Pictures
C. Practical English: A Useful Tool
D. How to Win a Sports Game
【答案】31. C 32. A 33. A 34. B 35. C
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,阐述实用英语在真实沟通、购物服务、时间安排、电子海报和个人成长中的作用,考查细节理解、推理判断和最佳标题。
【详解】31. 细节理解题。根据Practical English is the English people use to solve real problems可知,实用英语用于解决真实问题。
【详解】32. 细节理解题。根据ask about size, color and payment can serve customers better可知,店员可询问尺码、颜色和付款方式。
【详解】33. 细节理解题。根据choose words that are clear, short and useful可知,设计电子海报需要选择清楚、简短、实用的词语。

Text 3

D. Because they can stop role-play.
