A 13-year-old boy in the West Midlands, England, has raised £ 18,000 for charity by recycling (回收) about 1.5 million soft drink cans over the last three years.
Ryan Hulance was 10 when he started noticing many cans were thrown away in his community, harming the environment while wasting valuable natural materials. He wanted to help local food banks and look after the planet at the same time, so he set up “We Can CIC”, an organization that collected cans and sold them for charity.
At first, he only collected cans from family, friends and local parks, but soon he could do more. In 2023, he began asking restaurants, shops and nursing homes to put away their empty cans for him. Many businesses were inspired by his dedication and joined in his action. Some places specially kept large bins just to store empty cans waiting for Ryan’s weekly pickup.
Last year alone, he collected eight tons of cans—the weight of four large cars—worth about £ 6,000. He spent around 20 hours a week collecting, crushing (压碎) and sending cans to the recycling factories, often with help from his parents and neighbors. The crusher he used was a donation from a local businessman who respected his charity work. So far, all the money he raised has gone to buy food and basic daily goods for people in need.
“I really love what I do because I get to help people and families who are in difficulties,” Ryan said. “Every can matters, and I hope to keep growing this project to help even more people in the future.”
63.Why did Ryan start “We Can CIC”?
A.To collect more cans. B.To get work experience.
C.To become a businessman. D.To help people and nature.
64.What does the underlined word “dedication” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Secret. B.Talent. C.Luck. D.Effort.
65.What’s people’s attitude (态度) towards Ryan’s action?
A.Supportive. B.Disappointed. C.Surprised. D.Angry.
66.What can we learn from Ryan’s story?
A.The planet is in poor condition now. B.Anyone can make a difference in life.
C.Big success calls for more business. D.Good family relationship matters most.

It was a summer,but what a summer.
I once had my own vegetable garden. It was my first and also my last because I couldn't go to the countryside often enough to keep my eyes on it.Anyway, the second summer, the bugs (虫) found us and ate some of the vegetables.I could see the garden needed more care than I could give it,and I stopped.
But the first season was so pleasant.I still remember sitting in that garden— fresh air on my face, quiet all around me.Sometimes I would sing, softly at first, then a little louder.Soon a small group of cows walked over and put their big heads over the fence (栅栏),looking at me gently.Mostly I sat there, picking green beans, boiling them, adding a little butter and salt, and eating them just like that. They were so delicious that I felt like singing again, right there in the quiet garden.
Once I thought life was too short for all my dreams. There were so many choices, and it made me sad that things had to end or I had to choose between them. How could I both live on a farm and travel the world? It seemed that enjoying life fully only meant loss (失落).
▲ These memories are a permanent (永恒的) part of me.I often think back to that wonderful summer and my lovely garden.Little by little, the truth became okay with me:someone who loves many things can't make all of them permanent. You have to walk away from one thing so you can have another. So,it's common for us to feel a little lost sometimes.
Then I understood that summer with my fresh vegetables, the hours I spent sitting on the ground, and the unexpected love from the cows—all these filled an empty place in my heart.
And it has never been empty since.
67 What made the author stop planting the vegetable garden?
A.She didn't have enough time or energy for it.
B.The garden was too far away for her to visit.
C.The plants were eaten by insects.
D.She was not interested in it.
68 Which of the following is NOT a simple pleasure for the author in her garden time?
A.Enjoying the quiet and fresh air.
B.Eating freshly cooked vegetables.
C.Selling vegetables for money.
D.Having unexpected animal visitors.
69 Which of the following may be the best to put in " ▲ " in Paragraph 5?
A.However,I soon forgot the garden.
B.However,nothing was lost.
C.Besides,I felt upset about the dead plants.
D.Besides, those days were a waste of time.
70 According to the author, what did the experience of that summer finally bring to her life?
A.The sad feeling of not keeping the garden.
B.The skills to grow vegetables successfully.
C.More free time to enjoy being close to nature later.
D.Permanent memories that filled an empty space inside.

A.However,I soon forgot the garden.
B.However,nothing was lost.
C.Besides,I felt upset about the dead plants.
D.Besides, those days were a waste of time.

A.The sad feeling of not keeping the garden.
B.The skills to grow vegetables successfully.
C.More free time to enjoy being close to nature later.
D.Permanent memories that filled an empty space inside.
It was my first and also my last because I couldn't go to the countryside often enough to keep my eyes on it.(这是我的第一次,也是最后一次,因为我不能经常去农村看它。)
I still remember sitting in that garden— fresh air on my face, quiet all around me.Sometimes I would sing, softly at first, then a little louder.Soon a small group of cows walked over and put their big heads over the fence, looking at me gently.(我仍然记得坐在那个花园里——新鲜的空气扑面而来,四周一片寂静。
These memories are a permanent part of me.I often think back to that wonderful summer and my lovely garden.Little by little, the truth became okay with me:someone who loves many things can't make all of them permanent. You have to walk away from one thing so you can have another. So,it's common for us to feel a little lost sometimes.(这些记忆是我永恒的一部分。
Then I understood that summer with my fresh vegetables, the hours I spent sitting on the ground, and the unexpected love from the cows—all these filled an empty place in my heart.(然后,我明白了那个夏天,我吃了新鲜的蔬菜,坐在地上的几个小时,还有奶牛意想不到的爱——所有这些都填补了我心中的空白。) And it has never been empty since.(从那以后,它就再也没有空过。)

What will our world be like in 2050? We are not quite sure, but it’s interesting to make some predictions.
Languages
English should still be the most popular language, but Chinese should be the second. Now, many foreign people are studying Chinese as their second language. In the future, many other languages will disappear (消失).
Water
Water will become as expensive as oil because many rivers will disappear. We will have to save water and pay more for clean water.
Education and Science
More students will study online. Students from all over the world may study together on the Internet. We may eat more genetically modified (转基因的) food. And more robots will be around us.
Travel
Traveling in different countries will be more expensive and will take more time, so more people will travel in their own country. Traveling by bus, by ship or by train may become very popular. Of course, flying will be the most popular.

列文
I recently read The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is a touching story about a young prince who travels from planet to planet, meeting different grown-ups and learning about life.
The main character, the little prince, meets a fox who teaches him that what is truly important is often invisible to the eyes—only the heart can see it clearly.
