①Everybody wants to succeed, but how can we be successful? We must keep working hard to achieve our goals and it always begins first with a baby step. Why do we call them baby steps?
②Baby steps are the first steps we take as an act of faith (信念). Faith is the most important in taking baby steps. We see others stepping out and we want to show our ability to walk by following them. As we grow, we continue our development by taking extra baby steps. Sometimes we fall; sometimes we fail. After that, all steps become an act of faith; we just become more practiced (熟练的). If you say to yourself “I don’t want to make a fool of myself” or “I’d better be good at this”, you’ll probably never take the baby steps towards your goals and end up lying in your own self-pity (自怜)!
③In our culture, we focus on results. We think about every risk. These risks must be taken to reach our goals. Few people perform any task excellently the first time they try it. They practice their skills through baby steps. They also use their talents through baby steps.
④After that, they are ready to prove them to the whole world. So, take those baby steps to reach the goals. As you become more experienced, your baby steps become a walk, then a jump, and finally a sprint (冲刺). That’s how our baby steps lead us through the marathon (马拉松) of life.

Unitree Robotics, set up by Wang Xingxing in 2016, is very successful in the field of robots. At the 2026 Spring Festival Gala, its G1 and H2 robots worked with martial (武术) artists to put on a wonderful kung fu show. They performed difficult movements perfectly without any mistakes, showing that technology can work well with traditional Chinese culture.
Wang has loved robots since childhood. At 14, he built his first walking robot with toy car wheels and old watch batteries. Though it only took three steps before falling, the experience taught him to keep trying. Guide robots can lead blind people through busy streets using special sensors (传感器). Another robot can use its arm to help wheelchair users pick up objects. “Technology should make life warmer,” Wang says.

In 2023, Unitree’s models accounted for 70% of all four-legged robots in the global market, and its humanoid robots won high praise from global media. Meng Xiang was crazy about films and music during his childhood. When he started college, he dreamed of making films that could combine his love for storytelling and interest in music.
His biggest challenge came when he planned to make a film about a tennis player. Since no one would offer him money for a 2-hour film, Meng and his college friends tried to make a shorter one. They bought a secondhand camera and used old things instead of expensive equipment. They even made a shelf on their own to support the camera.
Meng and his friends worked hard, rain or shine. When filming the tennis player, they ran after him in the summer sun. If it rained and they couldn’t film outside, they hung bed sheets on the walls in an empty room to set up a simple studio. This 12-minute film got much attention. The teachers and students in their college liked the music they created for it.
After that, Meng had another idea: to make a musical film. But musicals weren’t popular in college, and many said it wouldn’t work. Instead of listening to the doubts, Meng and his team spent weeks writing new songs and making a test video. To film the moving scenes, they fixed a smartphone on a skateboard and pushed it. The actors’ hair was blowing in the wind while they were dancing and singing. The loud voice and laughter of the team filled the air.
Their musical film was well-received and won several awards at a film festival. As Meng said, “Making films isn’t about having the best equipment or famous actors. It’s about finding new ways to tell your story. Our team is planning to make a special documentary about the environment. And I can’t wait to write music for it.”

A. To work on rainy days. B. To get much attention.
C. To follow the tennis player. D. To film a moving scene.

A. The actors were popular. B. The team enjoyed the process.
C. Meng wanted to make another film. D. The students had good equipment.
( ) 45. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. To See Is to Believe B. Success Comes From Honesty
C. Music Is the Best Language D. Hard Work Makes Dream Work

Born into a farming family in Dalian, Dong lost her sight at 10 but she never stopped her education.
In fact, she began to study at Dalian School for the blind and deaf in 1992. Then she started her full-time master’s courses in 2020. “This school provides a warm and excellent educational environment for special education students like me.”
From the moment she started her study, the university held Dong to the same study requests as the others, but also provided support in the form of Braille (盲文) products. This made her often think of her childhood. At that time, there weren’t lots of Braille books. However, now many visually impaired people can even use the Internet with the help of accessibility (无障碍) science and technology.

D. Baby steps are the last steps we take as an act of faith.

In 2013, he created X Dog, a dog-shaped robot faster than real animals, laying a solid (坚实的) foundation for his later creations.
▲ They always offer help to people in many fields of life. They read interesting stories to sick children in hospitals to cheer them up. They also check dangerous factory equipment to protect workers, help teachers give lively classes at school, and assist (帮助) the disabled. Guide robots can lead blind people through busy streets using special sensors (传感器). Another robot can use its arm to help wheelchair users pick up objects. “Technology should make life warmer,” Wang says.
These robots use easy-to-understand technology. Special cameras act as their eyes, while computers help them learn. For example, to perform kung fu, they watched human performances repeatedly.
