At a vocational school in Guangzhou, students in the tourism class used to spend every break looking at their phones. Their teacher, Mr. Liang, did not want to ban smartphones because he knew they were useful tools. Instead, he asked the class to design a one-day city guide for visitors using only mobile apps. The task sounded easy, but students soon found that useful phone use needed planning, checking, teamwork and patience.
The first group searched for bus and metro routes to the Canton Tower. They compared different routes and chose the one with fewer transfers. The second group used map apps to find a local restaurant with fresh food and clear prices. Before adding it to the guide, they read comments carefully and called the restaurant to make sure it was open. The third group prepared a short English introduction. They used online dictionaries, but Mr. Liang reminded them not to copy full sentences. He asked them to write in simple words that visitors could understand.
When the guide was finished, students tested it after class. They followed the route, scanned a payment code for shared bikes, and sent photos to the class group. Some problems appeared: one bus stop had changed its name, and one restaurant was too crowded at noon. The students corrected the guide that evening. Through the activity, they learned that smartphones can connect school learning with real service. More importantly, they learned that information on the Internet is useful only after careful checking.

A recent school survey asked 600 students how they used smartphones during holidays. The result was not simply good or bad. About 82 percent of students used phones for studying at least three times a week. Many watched recorded lessons, looked up words and sent homework by email. However, 47 percent also said they sometimes stayed up late because of games or short videos. The survey team found that the problem was not the smartphone itself, but the way students managed time and attention.
The survey divided students into three types. Type A students spent more time studying and reading news than having fun. They often made a daily plan and used alarms to stop entertainment apps. Type B students spent most of their online time on games, videos and chatting. They knew the habit was unhealthy, but they found it hard to stop because apps kept sending notices. Type C students had a more balanced habit. They used phones for study, fun and communication, but they usually put phones away during meals and before sleep.
After reading the report, the student union wrote a guide called “Three Small Changes”. First, decide the purpose before unlocking the phone. Second, place the phone one meter away when doing homework, so notices will not take your attention at once. Third, record total screen time every Sunday night and compare it with your plan. The guide became popular because it did not ask students to give up smartphones. It encouraged them to become active users who choose, check and control their online activities.

Doing an interview about online activities is a useful way to understand classmates, but a good interview needs more than a list of questions. ____41____ If the interviewer is careless, the answers may be too short or unclear. If the interviewer is polite and prepared, classmates will be more willing to share real habits and problems.
Before the interview, decide what you really want to know. ____42____ For example, you may ask about study apps, games, short videos, online shopping and reading news. Do not ask questions that are too private. You should also prepare a simple table, so you can record answers quickly without making the speaker wait too long.
During the interview, start with a friendly greeting. ____43____ Questions such as “Could you spare a few minutes?” and “How often do you play online games?” sound natural and respectful. Listen carefully when your classmate answers. If you do not understand, ask one more short question instead of guessing the meaning.
After the interview, check the information at once. ____44____ A wrong number may lead to a wrong conclusion. You can compare the notes with your partner and make sure each answer is placed in the right part of the table. Then, look for common problems and useful examples.
Finally, turn the interview result into helpful advice. ____45____ If many students stay up late for videos, suggest a screen-time alarm. If they use phones well for study, share their methods with others. In this way, an interview is not just homework. It becomes a small step toward wiser Internet use.
选项:
A. It should help students improve their habits.
