Its name is AlienGo, made by Unitree Company in Hangzhou. It is 65 cm long, 31 cm wide and 60 cm tall. It weighs 21.5 kg and can run at 6 meters per second.
During the Games, it helped carry heavy equipment like discuses, shot puts and javelins. It was really useful. Also, it could shake hands, greet people and even make a heart gesture. It was so cute and became a star!
I think robots like AlienGo will help us more in the future.

Today, food delivery (配送) is a big part of our lives. But did you know this idea started in China a very long time ago?
About 1,400 years ago in the Tang Dynasty, there was a special delivery service for the emperor. He loved fresh lychees, a kind of fruit. To bring them to him fast, people used Yizhan (驿站) with fast horses and riders. There were many stops along the roads where riders could get a new horse. This way, the fruit could travel very quickly.
Much later, during the Song Dynasty, delivery became popular for common people. A book from that time describes the busy city of Kaifeng. People often bought ready-made meals from shops. Without phones, they went to a restaurant or sent someone to order. Then, the restaurant would send the food to their homes by delivery workers. Cooks also used a special container (容器) called a wenpan to keep food hot. It was made of a two-layer (双层) china with a space in between for hot water.
Nowadays, new technology has made delivery in China much faster and smarter. A great example is the use of drones (无人机) in Shenzhen. These flying machines can deliver medicine across the city in just minutes. This is part of the new “low-altitude economy,” which refers to economic activities carried out in low-altitude airspace. Drones also do other important jobs, like helping to put out fires or bringing life-saving tools to people during big sports events. A super-fast 5G-A network works like an air traffic control system, guiding these drones safely through the sky.
All in all, from the wenpan to the 5G-A network, China’s delivery development shares a common goal: to meet people’s needs and make life better with creativity.

Since the Industrial Revolution (工业革命), people have worried that new machines would take their jobs. It’s reported that AI could soon do a quarter of all human work, and, across Europe and the United States, about 300 million jobs might disappear.
________. Experts point out that jobs requiring human qualities, like understanding feelings and creative thinking, are likely to stay.
Martin Ford, a writer who studies the future of work, says three types of jobs may remain safe in the near future. First are truly creative jobs. You’re not just copying or doing things the same old way, but you’re coming up with new ideas and building something new. Note that “creative” here does not mean simple art; a robot can already study millions of pictures and copy their style. It means deeper creativity, like designing a brand-new medicine, writing a new law, or planning a business model no one has tried.
Second are jobs where you work closely with people, like nurses, teachers, and reporters. These are jobs where you need a very deep understanding of people. This remains a challenge for AI. A nurse calms a scared child and a reporter can win trust from a stranger. Work like these needs heart, not only rules. It’ll be a long time before AI understands how to build relationships.
Third are jobs that need quick hands and sharp eyes in messy, changing places. Think of jobs like fixing lights, repairing cars and machines. These are the kinds of jobs where you’re often dealing with a new situation all the time.
In short, getting jobs in active and changing environments that include unpredictable tasks is a good way to avoid job loss to AI. At least, for a while.

29.Which picture shows the job that may be easily taken by AI?
A. B. C. D.
30.What’s the passage mainly about?
A.AI’s progress in changing situations. B.Humans’ advantages in work.
C.Examples of jobs lost to AI. D.The history of creative jobs.

Technology has greatly changed our lives in many ways. 31 In the past, it was impossible for us to take a train or a plane without holding the tickets in our hands. But now, thanks to technology, we can travel freely by scanning (扫描) our faces, ID cards or QR codes.
A subway line in Beijing allows passengers to walk into and out of stations by just scanning the palm (手掌) of a hand. It’s the first subway line that offers people the palm scanning service in China. 32 In order to use the service, passengers need to register (注册) their palm prints and online payment information on the Internet. They can do it at any subway station along the Daxing Airport Metro Line. 33
“It’s convenient. Passengers only need to place a palm above the scanning machine when walking into and out of a subway station. 34 What’s more, it needs no body contact, so it’s much quicker and safer than traditional check-in ways,” said Zhang Li, an expert at Beijing Metro Network Control Center.
The service is very friendly to many people. 35 It can also help those who can’t use mobile phones.
In the future, the palm scanning service will be improved and offered at other places such as offices, schools and restaurants.
A.Passengers aged 14 and above can use the service.
B.And it makes our lives more convenient and comfortable.
C.It can help passengers who forget to bring their subway cards.
D.It helps us to stay connected to family, friends and the world around us.
E.The machine will scan their palms and open the gate by itself.
F.And it’s also the first subway line with such service in the world.

The seventh World Intelligence Congress (WIC,世界智能大会), a big artificial intelligence(AI,人工智能) event in China, took place in Tianjin from May 18 to 21. More than 500 exhibitors brought their latest technologies. Let’s check out some of the cool inventions at WIC.
Creating another “you”
“Three, two, one, OK!” said the photographer while taking a 3-second video. Then, the “digital twin” of a person was created, standing in a “box” behind and weaving at others.
“We’ve connected the camera to a program,” said a staff member. “It can project the image of a person. Everyone looks real in 3D.” Although this is a quick show, the “digital twin” can do many tests in the digital world without affecting anyone in reality(现实).
Building a smart park
How can technology make parks smart? You can look up places on a screen, and the signposts beside the screen can turn around to show you the direction. Street lights with sensors will give you a warning that you are too close to water areas. You can even sit on solar-powered benches that can play music while charging your phone.
Planting with the press of a button
China Telecom brought a “smart” planting rack. The plants grow in small boxes on the wall. The whole system is connected to 5G, which makes it easy to control from faraway places. You can change the light and water of the plants through an app. “This is made for teenagers. Users can find all kinds of environment information in the app. So young people can better learn how plants grow,” said a China Telecom staff member.

21.What was the Yizhan used for in the Tang Dynasty?
A.Helping ordinary people deliver food quickly.
B.Carrying fresh fruit for the emperor over long distances.
C.Providing new horses for riders traveling on business.
D.Creating many stops along the main roads for travelers.
22.How did people in the Song Dynasty order food without phones?
A.By asking the cooks to send food by wenpan.
B.By sending a message through a delivery person.
C.By reading a book that described the restaurant.
D.By going to the restaurant themselves or sending someone.
23.What can drones do according to the passage?
①Deliver medicine ②Put out fires ③Guide air traffic ④Send life-saving tools
A.①②③ B.①③④ C.①②④ D.②③④
24.What is the correct time order of the following events?
a. Deliver medicine with the help of 5G-A network.
b. Use the Yizhan with fast horses to deliver lychees.
c. People often bought ready-made meals from shops.
d. Restaurants delivered ordered food to people’s homes
A.b-c-d-a B.b-d-c-a C.c-b-d-a D.d-c-b-a
25.What does the passage mainly want to tell us?
A.Tang Dynasty had the best delivery system for the emperor.
B.The wenpan was a very important invention in the Song Dynasty.
C.Long-term creativity is used to meet people’s needs and improve life.
D.Drones are the most successful form of delivery in the modern China.

21.第二段提到“About 1,400 years ago in the Tang Dynasty... special delivery service for the emperor. He loved fresh lychees... people used Yizhan...”,可知唐朝的驿站是用来为皇帝长途运送新鲜荔枝(水果)的。
22.第三段提到“Without phones, they went to a restaurant or sent someone to order.”,可知在没有电话的宋朝,人们自己去餐馆或者派人去订购食物。
23.根据第四段,无人机可以“deliver medicine”(①运送药品),“helping to put out fires”(②灭火),“bringing life-saving tools”(④运送救生工具)。文中提到“5G-A network works like an air traffic control system, guiding these drones”,即引导无人机的是5G-A网络而非无人机本身,排除③。因此选①②④。
25.根据最后一段总结句“China’s delivery development shares a common goal: to meet people’s needs and make life better with creativity.”可知,文章主旨是中国配送发展通过长期的创造力来满足人们需求并改善生活。
C
26.What worries people since the industrial revolution?
A.They have more jobs to do. B.AI spreads slowly in Europe.
C.Machines are useless. D.New machines influence jobs.

C.We have to use AI properly D.Not all jobs are at risk
28.According to Martin Ford, ________.
A.deep creativity matters a lot B.humans copy new ideas from AI
C.AI understands human connections D.Simple art forms are the best
29.Which picture shows the job that may be easily taken by AI?
A. B. C. D.
30.What’s the passage mainly about?
A.AI’s progress in changing situations. B.Humans’ advantages in work.
C.Examples of jobs lost to AI. D.The history of creative jobs.

Seeing our future
