New experiences. Interesting people. Read about other people’s exciting travels around the world with these three books. Is That Bike Diesel, Mate?: One man, one bike and the first Lap Around Australia on Used Cooking Oil by Paul Carter There are lots of ways to travel around Australia. You could do it by plane, train or car. But author Paul Carter decided to tour the country on a homemade motorcycle that runs on cooking oil. Why? The author worked in the oil industry for many years, and was keen to explore alternative fuels. So, he bought the unusual bike from a group of Australian university students (who had built it themselves) and set off. On route, he has lots of amusing experiences. He almost dies in a crash and he even attempts to break the land speed record for a motorbike running. You Are Awful (But I Like You) Travels Through Unloved Britain by Tim Moore Travel writers usually go to the best destinations. But not Tim Moore. In the book, Tim travels to the worst places in the UK. Follow him as he heads to “the bleakest towns, the worst hotels and the scariest pubs”. And to make matters worse, he does it in the middle of winter. “My primary challenge was to have a good time in places that everyone had said I wouldn’t,” said the author. And he does meet lots of quirky characters and discovers that even Britain’s ugliest parts have an inner beauty. Coasting: A Private Voyage by Jonathan Raban In 1982, author Jonathan Raban bought a boat and navigated Britain. And this is the book about his adventure. Along the way he gets caught in a few storms, explores seaside towns and even takes his aging parents along for part of the journey. Raban also uses his time at sea to think about how 1980s Britain is changing under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. 21. What is special of Paul Carter’s travel? A. He breaks the land speed record. B. He uses an unusual fuel. C. His aging parents accompanies him. D. His motorcycle almost dies in a crash. 22. What challenge does Tim Moore face while traveling in the UK? A. Searching for alternative fuels. B. Surviving heavy storms at sea. C. Standing the freezing cold in winter. D. Enjoying himself in unattractive places. 23. What do the three books have in common? A. They share practical travel advice for tourists. B. They compare different ways of transportation. C. They explore unique and challenging travel experiences. D. They offer alternative fuel sources and their applications. B I remember when I started telling people about my upcoming solo (独自的) travel to Mongolia, I was met with surprise and often confusion. My manager at the time gave me a funny look and warned me against going there. I didn’t panic. I’d done my research. Mongolia wasn’t as dangerous as people thought — in fact, it’s far safer than a lot of more frequented countries, like South America. The thing about Mongolia is… no one has been there. I don’t know a single other person in my life who has been there. Except for the friends I made while I was there. That’s the thing about solo travel — you don’t technically have to do it alone. Since Mongolia held some risks to it and is considered one of the most remote regions in the world, I decided to join a small-group tour. I admit I was a little nervous. Looking up past trips on this company’s website, it looked like it was a whole bunch of couples that frequented these tours. I started picturing six couples, enjoying a Mongolian sunset… and then little old me. Just off to the side, enjoying it on my own. When I arrived in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and met the rest of the tour, I was both surprised and thrilled to realise that, of the ten people on tour, there was only one pair. Everybody else was there on their own. And instead of sitting off to the side like I’d feared, I’d been tent-paired with a lovely young American girl called Annie. On what other occasions might I have met her if not for this solo trip? The decision to travel solo, to not let the fact that I didn’t have a travel companion stop me, was what brought us together. And that’s the beauty of travelling solo. When I’m alone, I’m more likely to branch out and talk to the locals and strangers, even if there’s a language barrier. And, in my experience, most people are good people. Start up a conversation, ask questions, and be curious. Most importantly: don’t be a tourist. Be a traveller. 24. What does the author say about Mongolia? A. It is hardly accessible. B. It is suitable for solo travel. C. It is a popular destination. D. It is safer than people think. 25. Why was the author nervous about the small-group tour? A. She feared being left out. B. She feared being too old to bond. C. She was unsure of the risks ahead. D. She was unfamiliar with such tours. 26. What is the author’s purpose in mentioning Annie? A. To illustrate a benefit of solo travel. B. To show the friendliness of the small-group. C. To stress the growing popularity of solo travel. D. To explain the importance of cooperation in travel. 27. According to the author, what is most attractive about solo travel? A. The thrill of self-discovery. B. The freedom of being alone. C. The authentic engagement with others. D. The improvement of conversation skills. C Hydrogen fuel-cell (氢燃料电池) vehicles aren’t just sources for science fiction or far-out experiments. Cars fueled by hydrogen, like the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, are already here, and hydrogen fuel-cell technology is actively evolving and benefiting from billions of dollars in research. So, why are hydrogen cars nearly non-existent on U.S. roads today? “The answer is simple: economics,’ Sergey Paltsev, a senior scientist at the MIT Energy Initiative told Popular Science. Politicians and automakers once advocated the fuel cell, which turns the chemical energy of hydrogen into electricity to drive an electric motor, as the future of passenger automobiles, but the falling cost of batteries and a large number of electrical fueling infrastructure have propelled battery-electric cars well into the lead (propel sth. into the lead.) A big switch to hydrogen cars would require cost-cutting and enormous infrastructure development. The Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center shows 55 public hydrogen fueling station locations in the U.S. today, almost only in California, while more than 68,000 active public electric vehicle charging stations across the country. “Nothing is going to change next year, or probably not in the next five years, but there are brighter pathways for hydrogen vehicles,” said Paltsev. It turns out that hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles have advantageous applications in medium-duty (中型的) and heavy-duty trucks and aviation (航空). Besides, battery electric vehicles can be problematic when you have problems with range, fueling time or heavy loads. The current impractical application of hydrogen passenger vehicles in places like the U.S. is not a reason to“just give up” on hydrogen fuel-cell tech. “We may need it for many other reasons in the future,” cautioned Paltsev, noting that geopolitical (地缘政治的) issues could prevent access to raw materials for batteries, thus making hydrogen cars suddenly more economically workable. 28. Why are hydrogen cars not commonly seen on U S roads today? A. Lack of public awareness. B. Unavailability of hydrogen fuel. C. Limited research and development. D. High costs and insufficient infrastructure. 29. What is Sergey Paltsev’s attitude towards hydrogen vehicles in the future? A. Hopeful. B. Doubtful. C. Indifferent. D. Confused. 30. What can be learned about hydrogen fuel-cell tech from the passage? A. It is already cost-effective for passenger vehicles. B. It fails to solve the problems with range or fueling time. C. It is practicable due to potential issues resulting from geopolitics. D. It has unsatisfactory applications in heavy-duty trucks and aviation. 31. What would be the best title for this passage? A. Battery-Electric Vehicles: A Glorious Era B. Hydrogen Vehicles: Struggling Yet Promising C. Why Are We Not Driving Electric Powered Cars? D. How to Build a Public Hydrogen Fueling Station? D People naturally want to share their beliefs and feelings with others. Whether positive or negative, opinions feel as though they were made for sharing. This has a solid logic: Sharing emotions and opinions can lead to imitation, which can in turn create a bond and more positive social interactions. Besides creating a bond, another reason you might want to convince someone to model themselves on your feelings is to get them to change their views. To achieve that result, you can usually choose whether to present your views in a positive or negative way. So you might tell someone either that you’re voting for a particular presidential candidate because you believe this person will make the country stronger and fairer and you want that better future, or that the other candidate will ruin the society and anyone who disagrees is a fool. The approach you choose to persuading others depends on your goal and your audience. If your audience already agrees with you, negative presentation can strengthen their beliefs. For example, saying, “If we don’t vote for Candidate X, our society will suffer!” can motivate supporters. But this strategy won’t work on someone who disagrees — they’ll just dismiss your argument as unreasonable. Worse, if you express anger toward those who disagree, they may become even more opposed to your views. This is the so-called boomerang effect. In the 1960s, psychologists found that when people are severely questioned over the opinions they hold, they are much more likely to dig into their position. The boomerang effect can be hard to observe when people are dealing with a complex social interaction involving different opinions and feelings. To give an example: Imagine if someone brought you flowers but then hit you with them — you wouldn’t want to listen to them. The same happens when people use their opinions as weapons instead of gifts. If you want to persuade others, it’s better to share your views positively. In conclusion, to be more persuasive, manage your emotions and share them in a way that invites discussion rather than conflict. Instead of attacking others, try turning your opinions into gifts — something others might actually want to accept. 32. According to the passage, why do people naturally share their beliefs? A. To make social interactions meaningful. B. To question and correct others’ opinions. C. To strengthen interpersonal relationships. D. To set their views as a standard for others. 33. Compared to negative arguments, why might positive ones work better when persuading someone who disagrees? A. Negative arguments often make people defend themselves. B. Negative arguments including false facts can be misleading. C. Positive arguments can strengthen others’ different beliefs. D. Positive arguments often give rise to the boomerang effect. 34. To avoid the boomerang effect, what should you do when persuading others? A. Listen to others patiently. B. Express your views clearly. C. Allow for different voices. D. Present beautiful presents. 35. What does the author mainly convey in this passage? A. What matters in social interactions. B. How to tolerate different opinions. C. Why people love sharing opinions. D. How to make a difference to others. 第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2. 5 分,满分 12. 5 分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两 项为多余选项。 China has been the birthplace of many of the world’s greatest inventions. The classroom suddenly got filled with eager voices as classmates enthusiastically shared their dreams. “I want to be a college professor,” said Sarah confidently. “I dream of becoming a basketball player,” exclaimed Mike with light in his eye. The air was filled with dreams of doctors, nurses, police and various professions. When Mrs. Green turned her attention to me, inquiring about my future career, I hesitated. “I don’t know yet,” I admitted. Then she asked if I wished to follow in my dad’s footsteps. “No,” I replied firmly. My dad is a distinguished doctor with a demanding schedule, who often finds himself engaged in the responsibilities of his job. Thus, he often return s home late in the evening. The limited time we spent together during my growth created a noticeable distance in our relationship. I had such a lot to complain about his job and thus being a doctor would be the last option I would take. Upon hearing my response, Mrs. Green remained silent. Instead, she encouraged me to reflect further. A turning point came when our school organized a cultural festival. It was an important event, and we had been preparing for it for a long time. For my role, I needed to purchase a costume. Unfortunately, my mother was abroad, so the responsibility fell on my father. Unwillingly, I agreed, acknowledging that there was no other choice. In the mall, my dad’s unfamiliarity with the shopping list became apparent. Despite Mom’s thorough list, we wandered aimlessly through the floors, struggling to find the necessary items. As we did, I felt a growing sense of discomfort. Suddenly, a chaos drew our attention. A crowd had gathered, and someone was shouting for help. It turned out that an elderly customer had a fall, and onlookers were at a loss on how to assist. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Without hesitation, my father rushed forward. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ For the first time, I felt a sense of pride in his work. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025—2026学年度春学期3月学情调研试卷 高二英语 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。录音内容结束后,你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。每段录音后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段录音后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段录音播放两遍。 1. 【此处可播放相关音频,请去附件查看】 What does the man ask the woman to do? The scheme is supported by the government to help them prepare for university. Ministers are urging schools to put on special workshops for students aged 16 to 18. To ensure they feel comfortable with the preparation of leaving home, the course designed by the university accommodation provider, Unite Students will teach students how to manage their finances and how to live independently. According to the course materials, teachers should ask students questions which may not have occurred to them, such as what is the price of a litre of milk. And list five hot meals you can cook and how often will you wash your sheets once you move out of home? Damien Hines, the Education Secretary, said we are conscious that going to university is one of the most exciting things that happens in your life, but it can also be very challenging. He said that an important part of education is preparing children for adulthood. So it is right that we teach them what to expect for life after school. 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D) 中选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 A Adventure. 【答案】21. B 22. D 23. 【答案】24. D 25. A 26. A 27. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述作者独自前往蒙古旅行的经历,分享了独自旅行的顾虑、意外收获及独特魅力。 【24题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中的“Mongolia wasn’t as dangerous as people thought — in fact, it’s far safer than a lot of more frequented countries, like South America.(蒙古并不像人们想象的那么危险 —— 事实上,它比许多更热门的国家,比如南美洲,要安全得多)”可知,作者认为蒙古比人们想象的更安全。故选D项。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“I started picturing six couples, enjoying a Mongolian sunset… and then little old me. Just off to the side, enjoying it on my own.(我开始想象有六对情侣在欣赏蒙古的日落,……然后是小小的、不起眼的我,只能站在一旁,独自欣赏)”可知,作者担心小团体旅行中都是情侣,自己会被孤立。故选A项。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中的“The decision to travel solo, to not let the fact that I didn’t have a travel companion stop me, was what brought us together.(独自旅行的决定,不让没有旅伴这个事实阻止我,正是这个决定让我们走到了一起)”及第六段开头“And that’s the beauty of travelling solo.(这就是独自旅行的美妙之处)”可知,作者提到Annie是为了说明独自旅行能带来结交新朋友的好处。故选A项。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据第六段中的“When I’m alone, I’m more likely to branch out and talk to the locals and strangers, even if there’s a language barrier.(当我独自一人时,我更愿意主动与人交流,和当地人和陌生人聊天,即使存在语言障碍)”可知,作者认为独自旅行最吸引人的地方是能与他人进行真实的互动。故选C项。 C Hydrogen fuel-cell (氢燃料电池) vehicles aren’t just sources for science fiction or far-out experiments. 【答案】28. D 29. A 30. C 31. B 【解析】 【导语】文章主要说明了氢燃料电池汽车虽已量产,但因成本高、加氢设施稀缺在美国十分少见。专家认为短期难普及,不过它适配重型运输,地缘风险也会让其未来具备发展价值。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“A big switch to hydrogen cars would require cost-cutting and enormous infrastructure development. (想要大规模普及氢燃料汽车,既要降低成本,还需投入巨额资金完善配套基础设施。)”可知,如今在美国的道路上很少见到氢能源汽车是因为成本高昂且基础设施不足。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段““Nothing is going to change next year, or probably not in the next five years, but there are brighter pathways for hydrogen vehicles,” said Paltsev. (“明年不会有任何改变,或者至少在接下来的五年内不会,但氢能源汽车的发展前景更加光明,”帕尔采夫说。)”可知,谢尔盖·帕尔采夫对未来氢能源汽车充满希望。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“The current impractical application of hydrogen passenger vehicles in places like the U.S. is not a reason to“just give up” on hydrogen fuel-cell tech. “We may need it for many other reasons in the future,” cautioned Paltsev, noting that geopolitical (地缘政治的) issues could prevent access to raw materials for batteries, thus making hydrogen cars suddenly more economically workable. (目前在美国等地区氢能源乘用车的不切实际应用,并不能成为“放弃”氢燃料电池技术的理由。帕尔采夫警告称:“未来我们可能出于其他许多原因需要它。”他指出,地缘政治问题可能会阻碍电池原材料的获取,从而使氢能源汽车突然在经济上更具可行性。)”可知,因地缘政治可能带来的问题,使氢燃料电池技术具有可行性。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Hydrogen fuel-cell (氢燃料电池) vehicles aren’t just sources for science fiction or far-out experiments. Cars fueled by hydrogen, like the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, are already here, and hydrogen fuel-cell technology is actively evolving and benefiting from billions of dollars in research. So, why are hydrogen cars nearly non-existent on U. S. roads today? 【答案】32. C 33. A 34. C 35. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论了人们分享信念和感受的自然倾向,以及如何通过不同的方式来说服他人接受自己的观点。 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第一段“This has a solid logic: Sharing emotions and opinions can lead to imitation, which can in turn create a bond and more positive social interactions.(这背后有一个合理的逻辑:分享情感和观点可能引发模仿,进而建立纽带并促进更积极的社交互动。)”可知,人们自然分享信念是为了通过引发模仿来建立纽带,即加强人际关系。故选C。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Worse, if you express anger toward those who disagree, they may become even more opposed to your views. This is the so-called boomerang effect. In the 1960s, psychologists found that when people are severely questioned over the opinions they hold, they are much more likely to dig into their position.(更糟糕的是,如果你对持不同意见的人表达愤怒,他们可能会更加反对你的观点。这就是所谓的“飞去来器效应”。20世纪60年代,心理学家发现,当人们的观点受到严厉质疑时,他们更有可能坚定自己的立场。)”可知,消极的表达方式(如愤怒地质疑)会触发“飞去来器效应”,导致持不同意见者更坚定地捍卫自己的立场。而积极的方式则避免了这种对抗,因此更有效。故选A。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第三段“In the 1960s, psychologists found that when people are severely questioned over the opinions they hold, they are much more likely to dig into their position.(20世纪60年代,心理学家发现,当人们的观点受到严厉质疑时,他们更有可能坚定自己的立场。)”可知,飞去来器效应源于对不同意见者的攻击或严厉质疑,导致对方更坚定反对立场。避免这一效应的关键在于最后一段“In conclusion, to be more persuasive, manage your emotions and share them in a way that invites discussion rather than conflict.(总之,要想更有说服力,就要管理好自己的情绪,并以引发讨论而非冲突的方式分享观点。)” China has been the birthplace of many of the world’s greatest inventions. It was, for example, the first country to produce paper money. Before the invention of paper money and coins, people used many different kinds of things for buying and selling. ___36___ This exchange of goods and services for other goods and services is called bartering (以物易物). ___37___ In 1200 BC, people in China began to use shells (贝壳) as money. Usually the shells used as money were very small. This made it easier for people to carry money over long distances, and allowed for trade to develop between different parts of the country. In the years which followed this invention, many other countries around the world began to do the same. ___38___ The next development was in 1000 BC, when China started making bronze and copper shells. It wasn’t long before the Chinese made round coins out of metal. ___39___ By 500 BC, metal coins had begun to appear in countries like Persia and Greece, and later in the Roman Empire. About 1000 years later, leather was used as money in China, and in 806 AD, the first paper banknotes were produced by the Chinese people. ___40___ A. People also began collecting foreign coins as souvenirs. B. However, as economies developed, such exchanges became impractical. C. It was still many years before paper currency appeared in Europe. D. They also used tiny shells as money for buying and selling. E. As time went by, trade between countries increased. F. During that time, for example, buying a chicken might cost several potatoes. G. The very first coins often had holes in them, so that people could string them together. 【答案】36. F 37. B 38. D 39. G 40. Recently, I’ve noticed many peers overusing AI for homework or entertainment, which not only fuels mental passivity, declines academic performance, and weakens social bonds but also hinders long-term personal growth. Here are my suggestions. Firstly, treat AI as a tool. Prioritize independent thinking and use it to aid English learning. Secondly, AI can be helpful if used to search for study resources. Last but not least, set strict limits on AI entertainment and balance it with activities like sports and social interactions. All in all, only by equipping ourselves with knowledge and skills, not relying on AI blindly, can we thrive in the future. Let us harness AI with wisdom and remain the true masters of our future! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Without hesitation, my father rushed forward. He pushed through the crowd, his demeanor calm and collected despite the chaos around him. Kneeling beside the elderly customer, he quickly assessed the situation and instructed bystanders to call an ambulance. With gentle hands, he comforted the frightened old man, assuring him that help was on the way. As he tended to the injured, my father’s expertise as a doctor shone through, and I couldn’t help but be impressed. His actions spoke louder than any words ever could, showing me a side of him I had never seen before. The crowd dispersed, and when the ambulance arrived, my father carefully explained the situation to the paramedics before they took the elderly man away. Standing there, watching him, I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just about long hours and sacrifices; it was also about making a difference in people’s lives. For the first time, I felt a sense of pride in his work. As we walked out of the mall, I couldn’t help but ask him about his experiences as a doctor, and he shared stories of the moments that had brought him joy and fulfillment. I listened intently, seeing him in a new light. That night, when he returned home late, instead of feeling annoyed, I greeted him with a hug and thanked him for what he did. From then on, our relationship began to mend, and I found myself looking up to him in a way I never had before. My perspective on his job changed, and I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just a demanding profession; it was a calling that allowed him to touch lives and make a real impact. As I grew older, I even found myself considering following in his footsteps, inspired by his dedication and compassion. 词汇激活 行为类 ①评估:assess/estimate ②解释:explain/account for ③修复:mend/restore ④意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①恼怒的:annoyed/irritated ②感谢:thank/appreciate 【点睛】[高分句型1] Standing there, watching him, I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just about long hours and sacrifices; it was also about making a difference in people’s lives.(运用了现在分词作状语,that引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] As I grew older, I even found myself considering following in his footsteps, inspired by his dedication and compassion.(运用了as引导时间状语从句,过去分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面五段录音。每段录音后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段录音后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段录音播放两遍。现在你有5秒钟的时间阅读第一小题的有关内容。听下面的录音,回答第一小题。This is the last of the furniture.
