Hoping for a glimpse of the Milky Way (银河系)? These user-friendly apps help stargazers learn more about objects in the sky, check visibility for prime Milky Way viewing, or even locate the International Space Station.
Stellarium
Stellarium works like a camera and tells you exactly what you’re looking at. The app enables you to zoom in (放大) on any object and learn more, and the red light option protects delicate night vision. The app also has a cool “sky cultures” feature that lets you see the sky through different historic and cultural perspectives, from ancient Egyptian culture to three types of Arabic culture.
Astrospheric
This app may take a minute to get familiar with but it provides essential information before you head out. The cloud and radar animations allow you to know the weather conditions and adjust your viewing accordingly. Tap on features to access cloud cover, temperature, and wind overlays on your map from multiple forecast models. It also shares moon phases (月相) and both the sun and moon rise and set times.
PhotoPills
If you want to capture stunning dark sky images with a real camera, PhotoPills is a good choice. The app is particularly helpful in planning ahead for your photos, according to the sun, the moon, and Milky Way positions. It gives you the field of view, your exposure times, the phases of the moon, where the sun is and what it’s doing.
SpaceWeatherLive
This app offers a clear, digestible summary at a glance while allowing you to dig into the details if you want and helps educate you about the details. Best of all, you can set it to notify you when conditions are prime for aurora (极光) viewing. The app offers the live images of sunspots and solar flares.
21. What can Stellarium do for its users?
A. Offer camera setting advice.

Enric Sala isn’t a medical doctor, but he is regularly writing prescriptions (处方). His patient? The ocean. The prescription? Marine protected areas (MPAs) — a designated safe zone for ocean life where fishing, mining and other destructive human activities are banned. As news of coral bleaching, overfishing and ocean warming events dominate the headlines, the former university professor quit academia to become a full-time conservationist, advocating finding a cure for an ocean that, at times, can appear on its deathbed.
Since 2008, Sala has built a team of scientists, filmmakers, policy professionals and communicators to form Pristine Seas — an initiative that explores marine ecosystems to help protect the world’s most vital ocean areas. On their expeditions, scientists and filmmakers are invited by governments to spend weeks at a time at sea, collecting films and data to submit to local government leaders so they can determine which parts of their ocean are most important to protect.
Sala, a man who is equally at ease slipping on a wetsuit for a dive as he is donning a suit and tie for fundraising events or meetings with country leaders, understands that to truly inspire people to enact marine protections, you have to bring people close enough to care. “When we take government leaders down hundreds of meters underwater, we can open a window to their world that they’ve never seen before,” Sala says. “You can see the amazement and pride on their faces.”
Perhaps MPAs’ biggest opponents are industrial fishing lobbyists (说客) keen on keeping oceans open to large-scale fishing efforts. They argue that MPAs would hold back economic development and decrease fisheries’ productivity.
Sala and his colleague demonstrated that within MPAs, not only do target species bounce back, with an increase in fish biomass of more than 500%, but entire ecosystems are also restored. The populations then “spill over” into nearby unprotected fishing grounds. “Ocean protection and fishing have always had the same goal,” Sala says.
24. What is MPAs meant to do according to paragraph 1?
A. Stop damaging ocean wildlife.
B. Boost coastal fishing business.
C. Explore unknown deep-sea areas.
D. Seek new habitats for marine life.
25. Why does Sala take government leaders to dive underwater?
A. To test the possibility of MPAs.
B. To shoot underwater landscapes.
C. To train them to dive for an ocean project.
D. To touch their hearts and win their support.
26. What is Sala’s attitude to the fishing lobbyists’ idea?
A. Supportive. B. Tolerant.
C. Opposed. D. Unconcerned.
27. What can be the best title for the text?
A. An Opponent of Boosting Ocean Economy
B. An Ocean Doctor Without a Medical Degree
C. An Advocate of Exploring the Deep Ocean in a New Way
D. An Effort to Involve Governments in Oceanic Protection

Search online and you will find countless DIYbio trends that promise healthier aging, from using hyperbaric oxygen therapy to sleeping under red lights. But research from Tufts University points to a much simpler lifestyle change that appears to work: eating slightly fewer calories.
The findings come from CALERIE, short for Comprehensive Assessment of Long-term Effects of Reducing Intake of Energy. In the study, 143 participants tried to reduce their calorie intake by 25% for two years, while 75 others continued eating normally as the control group.
Researchers found notable improvements among the participants who reduced calories. Many shifted their diets away from fats and toward more protein and carbohydrates. Although the group achieved only about a 12% calorie reduction instead of the targeted 25%, they still experienced significant declines in blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, and insulin levels compared with the control group. A paper released earlier this year found that lowering calorie intake did not reduce the overall nutritional quality of participants’ diets.
“The most exciting part is that we saw these benefits with only a moderate level of restriction that’s feasible for most people. It doesn’t have to take extreme measures. For some people, just skipping a large daily sugary coffee drink can do the trick,” says Sai Krupa Das, one of the researchers.
Researchers are still unable to understand exactly why calorie restriction boosts health. One theory is that eating less helps the body generate energy more efficiently while producing fewer reactive oxygen species, unstable molecules (分子) that can damage cells and contribute to diseases ranging from cancer to Parkinson’s disease. One test confirmed that the participants in the calorie restriction group had lower levels of these molecules than the control group.
The CALERIE project is still ongoing. Researchers still do not know whether calorie restriction works best as a permanent lifestyle or as a shorter-term intervention. “I think the follow-up was necessary given such promising results in the primary study, and it is crucial to see how things play out over time,” Das says.
28. What is the effective way to slow aging according to the research from Tufts University?
A. Receiving oxygen treatment.
B. Using red lights while sleeping.
C. Trying various DIYbio methods.
D. Cutting down food calories a little.
29. What do we know about the calorie-cutting participants?
A. They took in much less protein.
B. They quitted before the deadline.
C. Their health indicators turned better generally.
D. Their diets were richer than the control group’s.
30. What does the underlined word “feasible” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Strange. B. Practical.
C. Suspicious. D. Predictable.
31. Why do researchers carry out further research?
A. To explore long-term effects of calorie restriction.
B. To figure out new approaches to restricting calories.
C. To explain why calorie restriction improves health.
D. To detect how reactive oxygen species harm health.
D
To the untrained eye, there is very little difference between the three known versions of the artwork The Lute Player. Almost identical in composition, the paintings all portray a young subject, in white clothes and with an instrument in hand, turning slightly away from the viewer. Each appears to carry Italian painter Caravaggio’s distinctive mastery of light and shadow.
To art historians, however, there has long been broad agreement: The versions held by Russia’s Hermitage Museum and France’s Wildenstein Collection were created by Caravaggio, while the one at Britain’s Badminton House is merely a copy.
A Swiss tech company begged to differ, and it claimed there was an almost 86% chance that Badminton House’s version is authentic. The company’s AI model, which was trained to recognize markers of Caravaggio’s style, including shapes, color palettes and compositional structures, also declared (though with less statistical certainty) that Wildenstein’s version was likely a copy. Its analysis found “a significant difference” between the latter painting’s “visual characteristics” and those of Caravaggio’s other works.
The company’s declarations have not always contradicted the established scholarship. It claimed that a long-debated painting of Vincent van Gogh at the National Museum in Oslo had a 97% chance of being genuine. The Vincent van Gogh authorship was later matched by more conventional research, including technical analyses and studies of the artist’s letters.
The company’s authentication approach combines machine learning, deep neural networks and computer vision algorithms (算法). To date, the company has produced models for over 200 artists. In each, the AI is trained on two photographic datasets: a “positive” one, containing images of recognized paintings by the artist mentioned, and a “negative” one comprising similar but inauthentic works. The company emphasized that having a “high degree of similarity” between the two datasets to learn the difference is crucial.
“I have reservations about it. Authentication is rarely just about surface style,” said art historian Sharon Hecker. “You have to know about the workshop, practices, materials, the condition of the work, the restoration history, and how a particular artist’s work evolved over time.”
32. What do we know about the three versions of The Lute Player?
A. They are recognized as Caravaggio’s artworks.
B. They are refused by famous European museums.
C. They look almost the same to non-professionals.
D. They differ greatly in composition and light use.
33. Why is the Vincent van Gogh’s painting mentioned in paragraph 4?
A. To prove AI research has its reliability.
B. To show the limits of traditional art study.
C. To compare different creating styles of art.
D. To stress the difficulty in painting creation.
34. What is Sharon Hecker’s attitude to the AI authentication method?
A. Supportive. B. Curious. C. Indifferent. D. Doubtful.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Conflicts of Caravaggio’s Artworks
B. AI Joins in the Artwork Identification
C. AI represents Traditional Art Appreciation
D. Approaches to Preserving Old Masterpieces

Many kids try to avoid their duties or tell small lies to escape punishment. Parents often wonder how to help kids build true honesty and responsibility without strict scolding (责骂). In fact, character building depends on daily, gentle guidance. Here are four effective ways.
Set clear rules and stick to consistent expectations. ____36____ Set simple, sincere rules for daily behavior, especially about telling the truth and taking responsibility. Consistency is the key to rule education. When rules stay the same, kids gradually form stable moral habits.
____37____ Kids learn values largely from adult behavior. If parents often excuse their own mistakes or hide small faults, kids will believe dishonesty is acceptable. Model honest and responsible behavior yourself. Showing sincere attitudes toward mistakes is the most powerful family education.
Encourage self-responsibility through small challenges. Not all kids are naturally willing to take responsibility. ____38____ They refuse to face their own errors. Parents can offer proper chances for independent decision-making. Allow kids to bear the natural results of their behavior instead of always fixing problems for them.
Treat mistakes as growth opportunities. Most kids lie or avoid duties simply out of fear of blame. It is vital to let kids know mistakes are normal in growth. When kids fail to keep promises or hide the truth, do not criticize them sharply. Instead, communicate gently and guide them to correct errors. ____39____
Building honesty and responsibility is never an overnight achievement. ____40____ But every patient instruction will finally shape their trustworthy personalities, benefiting their whole life.
A. Set a good personal example.
B. Some kids are used to relying on others.
C. Kids always care too much about others’ opinions.
D. These help them choose honesty actively next time.
E. Praise kids constantly regardless of their performance.
F. The progress of character building can be extremely slow.
G. Kids need definite standards to understand what is right and wrong.

In a quiet hospital room, the air was heavy with the sharp smell of medicine. Crystal sat frozen in a chair, her eyes fixed on the clear plastic incubator (恒温箱). Inside lay her newborn son, Brantley, a tiny figure connected to a web of tubes and wires. Diagnosed with severe heart issues at birth, the baby was fighting for his life. For weeks, Crystal had barely left his side, with her heart torn. The medical bills were piling up like a dark storm cloud, and the weight of helplessness pressed down on the family. They were desperate, praying for a miracle.
Meanwhile, in the auction (拍卖) market of their town, the atmosphere was typically noisy and routine. That was until Tom Harris, a local farmer with a rough look but a kind heart, walked in carrying a potted orchid (兰花). Tom had spent years planting this rare orchid, tending to it with care day after day to help it bloom into a graceful plant. Having heard about the struggle of Crystal’s family, he knew he couldn’t solve the medical crisis, but he wanted to help.
Then he took his beloved orchid to the auction market in the town. Approaching the auctioneer, he made an unexpected request: He didn’t want to sell the orchid for himself. Instead, he wanted to donate the money he earned, with every penny going directly to Crystal’s family.
The auctioneer announced the cause, and a silence fell over the crowd before the bidding (竞价) began. The well-tended orchid was displayed for everyone to see, its beauty drawing great praise, and the auctioneer started the bidding. A local buyer made the winning bid at $70.
A 25. D 26. C 27. B
根据第一段中“Marine protected areas (MPAs) — a designated safe zone for ocean life where fishing, mining and other destructive human activities are banned. (海洋保护区(MPAs)——一个为海洋生物指定的安全区域,禁止捕鱼、采矿和其他破坏性人类活动。)”可知,MPAs旨在阻止对海洋野生动物的破坏。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中Sala所说的话“When we take government leaders down hundreds of meters underwater, we can open a window to their world that they’ve never seen before (当我们把政府领导人带到几百米的水下时,我们可以打开一扇他们从未见过的世界的窗户)”和“You can see the amazement and pride on their faces. (你可以看到他们脸上流露出的惊讶与自豪。)”可知,Sala通过让政府领导人亲眼目睹海洋奇观,激发他们的情感共鸣,从而促使他们支持海洋保护,也就是想打动他们的心并赢得他们的支持。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中“They argue that MPAs would hold back economic development and decrease fisheries’ productivity. (他们认为,MPAs会阻碍经济发展,并降低渔业的生产力。)”和最后一段中“Sala and his colleague demonstrated that within MPAs, not only do target species bounce back, with an increase in fish biomass of more than 500%, but entire ecosystems are also restored. The populations then “spill over” into nearby unprotected fishing grounds. (Sala和他的同事证明,在MPAs内,目标物种不仅迅速恢复,鱼类生物量增加超过500%,而且整个生态系统也得到恢复。然后种群“溢出”到附近未受保护的渔场。)”可知,渔业游说者认为MPAs会阻碍经济发展和渔业生产力,而Sala用数据证明MPAs反而能恢复鱼类种群并惠及周边渔场,反驳了对方的论点,表明他对渔业游说者的观点持反对态度。
【27题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“Enric Sala isn’t a medical doctor, but he is regularly writing prescriptions (处方). His patient? The ocean. The prescription?
C
D 29. C 30. B 31. A
根据第一段中“But research from Tufts University points to a much simpler lifestyle change that appears to work: eating slightly fewer calories. (但塔夫茨大学的研究指出一种更简单的生活方式改变似乎有效:稍微少吃点卡路里。)”可知,根据塔夫茨大学的研究,延缓衰老的有效方法是稍微减少食物卡路里的摄入。
【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Although the group achieved only about a 12% calorie reduction instead of the targeted 25%, they still experienced significant declines in blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, and insulin levels compared with the control group. (尽管该组仅实现了约12%的热量减少,未达到目标的25%,但与对照组相比,他们的血压、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇和胰岛素水平仍显著下降。)”可知,减少卡路里的参与者的健康指标总体上变好了。
【30题详解】
词句猜测题。根据画线词的下文“It doesn’t have to take extreme measures. For some people, just skipping a large daily sugary coffee drink can do the trick (不必采取极端措施。对某些人来说,只需每天少喝一大杯含糖咖啡就足以达到效果。)”可知,实现这些好处无需极端措施,仅改变微小的日常饮食习惯就可以,说明这对大多数人来说是可行的,画线词的意思是“可行的,办得到的”,与Practical“切实有效的,切实可行的”意思接近。
【31题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Researchers still do not know whether calorie restriction works best as a permanent lifestyle or as a shorter-term intervention. “I think the follow-up was necessary given such promising results in the primary study, and it is crucial to see how things play out over time,” Das says. (研究人员仍然不清楚热量限制是作为长期生活方式还是短期干预措施效果最佳。“考虑到初步研究结果非常有希望,我认为后续随访是必要的,而且观察其长期发展情况至关重要,”Das说。)”可知,研究人员进行进一步研究是为了探索卡路里限制的长期效果。

B. To show the limits of traditional art study.

34. What is Sharon Hecker’s attitude to the AI authentication method?

B. AI Joins in the Artwork Identification
C. AI represents Traditional Art Appreciation

根据第四段中“The company’s declarations have not always contradicted the established scholarship. It claimed that a long-debated painting of Vincent van Gogh at the National Museum in Oslo had a 97% chance of being genuine. The Vincent van Gogh authorship was later matched by more conventional research, including technical analyses and studies of the artist’s letters.(这家公司的声明并非总是和公认的学术观点相悖,它声称奥斯陆国家博物馆中那幅长期存疑的梵高画作有97%的概率是真迹,这一梵高作品归属结论之后也得到了包含技术分析、艺术家书信研究在内的传统研究的佐证。)”

G 37. A 38. B 39. D 40. F
本段主旨句是“Set clear rules and stick to consistent expectations. (设定明确的规则,并坚持一致的期望。)”,下文“Set simple, sincere rules for daily behavior, especially about telling the truth and taking responsibility...When rules stay the same, kids gradually form stable moral habits. (为日常行为制定简单、真诚的规则,特别是关于说真话和承担责任的规则……当规则保持不变时,孩子们会逐渐养成稳定的道德习惯。)”具体说明规则内容及一致性的重要性,因此G项“Kids need definite standards to understand what is right and wrong. (孩子需要明确的标准来理解什么是对什么是错。)”符合语境,指出规则的必要性,承上启下。
【37题详解】
下文“Kids learn values largely from adult behavior. If parents often excuse their own mistakes or hide small faults, kids will believe dishonesty is acceptable. Model honest and responsible behavior yourself. (孩子主要从成年人的行为中学习价值观。如果父母经常为自己的错误开脱或隐瞒小过失,孩子就会认为不诚实是可以接受的。请你自己以诚实和负责任的行为为榜样。)”主要建议父母以身作则,通过自身行为影响孩子,因此A项“Set a good personal example. (树立良好的个人榜样。)”符合语境,概括段落主旨,可作为段首句统领段落内容。
【38题详解】
上文“Not all kids are naturally willing to take responsibility. (并非所有孩子天生就愿意承担责任。)”表明有些孩子会抗拒承担责任,下文“They refuse to face their own errors. Parents can offer proper chances for independent decision-making. (他们拒绝正视自己的错误。父母可以给予适当的自主决策机会。)”指出这类孩子存在的问题,并建议父母给予自主决策权,因此B项“Some kids are used to relying on others. (有些孩子习惯依赖他人。)”符合语境,解释了不愿承担责任的原因,承上启下,其中的Some kids是下文They指代的对象。
【39题详解】
上文“When kids fail to keep promises or hide the truth, do not criticize them sharply. Instead, communicate gently and guide them to correct errors. (当孩子未能遵守承诺或隐瞒真相时,不要严厉批评他们。相反,应温和地与他们沟通,并引导他们纠正错误。)”建议温和沟通、引导纠错,因此D项“These help them choose honesty actively next time. (这些帮助他们下次主动选择诚实。)”符合语境,说明其积极效果,承接上文。
【40题详解】
上文“Building honesty and responsibility is never an overnight achievement. (建立诚实与责任感从来都不是一蹴而就的事。)”表明培养诚实与责任感不可操之过急,下文“But every patient instruction will finally shape their trustworthy personalities, benefiting their whole life. (但每一次耐心的指导最终都会塑造他们值得信赖的个性,使他们的一生受益。)”包含转折,指出耐心的指导终会收获成果,因此F项“The progress of character building can be extremely slow. (品格建设的进展可能非常缓慢。)”符合语境,强调过程的缓慢,承接上文,和下文形成转折关系。

But then, something magical happened.

By the time the auction ended, the potted orchid had raised an astonishing sum of money.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The buyer shouted, “Put it up for auction again! I’ll donate the money, too!” Instead of taking the potted orchid home, he decided to sell the orchid a second time. The crowd erupted in cheers. The potted orchid was sold a second time, and again, the buyer gave it back to be resold. In the following time, the cycle repeated itself — three, five, ten times. Again and again, many more buyers gave the orchid back to be resold and donated the money to a baby they had never met. The bidding turned into a wave of generosity, transforming a simple $70 potted orchid into a golden opportunity for kindness.
By the time the auction ended, the potted orchid had raised an astonishing sum of money. The market, which was usually filled with the sounds of trade and chatter, was now filled with emotion. Strangers hugged, and tears of gratitude were shed. When Crystal heard about the donation, she was more than grateful for what all those people did for her family. She wept, not from despair this time, but from overwhelming relief. She realized that her family was not walking this dark path alone. Today, her baby Brantley is pulling through the hard period and growing stronger, his tiny heart beating with the rhythm of a community’s love.
