B 18. A 19. A 20. C
M: Good morning and welcome to the museum, one with a remarkable range of exhibits. My name is Greg, and I’ll tell you about the various collections as we go around. But before we go, let me just give you a taste of what we have here. Well, for one thing, we have a fine collection of 20th- and 21st-century paintings, many by very well-known artists. Then there are the 19th-century paintings. The museum was opened in the middle of that century, and several of the artists each donated one work to get the museum started, as it were. So they’re of special interest to us. We feel closer to them than to other works. All our glass was left to the museum by its founder when he died in 1878. And in the terms of his will, we’re not allowed to add anything to that collection. He believed it was perfect in itself, and we don’t see any reason to disagree. OK, that was something about the collections, and now here’s some more practical information in case you need it. Most of the museum facilities are downstairs, so you go down the stairs here.

Europe also sends millions, with the UK and France leading due to cultural and historical ties.

B
On Sept. 17, 2022, a father and son set out to begin an Ironman competition. Jeff, 59, and Johnny, 28, weren’t the typical athletes. Johnny has cerebral palsy (脑瘫), which causes walking difficulty. So Jeff would literally carry him throughout the race.
To qualify as official finishers, competitors must complete an exhausting 140 miles of swimming, bicycling and running in under 17 hours. The race began with a 2.4-mile swim. Jeff helped Johnny into a kayak and towed it while swimming. After the swim, they completed a 112-mile bicycle ride on a custom-built bike with an extra seat for Johnny. Then came the final leg — a 26.2-mile marathon with Jeff pushing Johnny in a racing chair.
At mile 19, Jeff panicked, convinced they were going too slow. Somehow he found the energy to pick up the pace. With minutes left and 200 feet to the finish line, Jeff stopped to help Johnny out of his racing chair. Johnny had once struggled to walk just 23 steps. But after years of painstaking work, he was determined to finish this race on his own. Johnny saw the clock ticking down and worried they wouldn’t make the cutoff. “Not because I wouldn’t get my moment,” he says, “but because Dad had worked so hard.”
After 16 hours, 55 minutes and 35 seconds — with just four minutes and 25 seconds to spare — father and son crossed the finish line together. As the crowd engulfed and cheered on an overwhelmed Johnny, a weary Jeff kept a low profile. “He didn’t want his finish line moment,” says Johnny. “He wanted it to be mine.”
24. What is the requirement for official finishers?
A. To defeat the fellow competitors.
B. To complete the demanding race in time.
C. To finish the regulated events in order.
D. To provide necessary support to a partner.
25. What does the underlined phrase “make the cutoff” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Meet the required time limit.
B. Receive special recognition.
C. Break the competition record.
D. Keep up with other competitors.
26. What was Johnny’s main concern near the end of the race?
A. Missing his own shining chance.
B. Wasting his father’s hard efforts.
C. Losing the top ranking in the race.
D. Disappointing the crowd’s expectations.
27. What is the overall writing purpose of this passage?
A. To highlight the tremendous power of endurance.
B. To honor Johnny for overcoming physical adversity.
C. To explain the fundamental rules of the competition.
D. To praise the father’s sacrifice behind the son’s glory.
B 25. A 26. B 27. D
根据第二段中“To qualify as official finishers, competitors must complete an exhausting 140 miles of swimming, bicycling and running in under 17 hours.( 要获得正式完赛资格,选手必须在不到17小时内完成长达140英里的游泳、骑行和跑步组合项目。)”
根据第二段中“To qualify as official finishers, competitors must complete an exhausting 140 miles of swimming, bicycling and running in under 17 hours.(要获得正式完赛资格,选手必须在不到17小时内完成长达140英里的游泳、骑行和跑步组合项目。)”以及划线短语句中“Johnny saw the clock ticking down and worried they wouldn’t…(看着计时器不断倒数,约翰尼担心他们可能无法……。)” Meet the required time limit“满足所需的时间限制”意思相近。
根据第三段中““Not because I wouldn’t get my moment,” he says, “but because Dad had worked so hard.”(“不是因为我没得到属于自己的时刻,”他说,“而是因为爸爸已经付出了这么多努力。”)”
C
The obesity crisis in America has given rise to a cottage industry of weight-loss plans. Currently trendy is intermittent fasting, which involves alternating intervals of extreme calorie reduction with periods of normal eating. Dr. Frank Hu of the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health notes that one popular pattern is the “5:2 diet”: eat normally for five days a week, but restrict intake to just 500 — 600 calories on the other two days.
Despite its appeal, intermittent fasting has significant pitfalls. In a 2017 study, the fasters performed no better than conventional calorie cutters, and the dropout rate among the fasting group was a striking 38% — a real-life reflection of the difficulty. As Dr. Hu notes, it’s human nature to reward oneself after hard work, so there is a danger of giving way to unhealthy dietary habits on non-fasting days. Moreover, your appetite hormones and hunger center go into overdrive when you are starved of food.
That said, intermittent fasting may have benefits for some people. Kathy McManus of Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s Hospital shares that one of her American patients didn’t want to be bothered with tracking calories and chose a 5:2 approach, which has worked well for him so far. Animal research in the U.S. also suggests fasting may reduce cancer risk and slow aging, as it can activate cellular mechanisms that boost immune function and reduce inflammation (炎症). However, there is no strong evidence that fasting adds health benefits beyond any other weight-loss strategy, nor has it been proved sustainable in the long term.
If you are considering intermittent fasting, be sure to discuss it with your doctor. Skipping meals and severely limiting calories can be dangerous for people with certain conditions. And, as Dr. Hu warns, Americans live in a toxic, unhealthy food environment — so you will need a strong social support network to endure very low-calorie days over the long term.
28. How does “intermittent fasting” work?
A. By eating normally on all seven days.
B. By limiting calories during certain days.
C. By exercising more on non-fasting days.
D. By taking special weight-loss medicine.
29. What did the 2017 study find about intermittent fasting?
A. It enhanced people’s healthy eating habits.
B. It helped fasters lose twice as much weight.
C. It stopped appetite hormones getting overactive.
D. It offered no benefits over traditional calorie cutting.
30. What is the author’s attitude to the advantages of intermittent fasting?
A. Enthusiastic. B. Approving.
C. Pessimistic. D. Doubtful.
31. What is suggested about intermittent fasting in the last paragraph?
A. It needs social support to remain sustainable.
B. It requires no specialized medical consultation.
C. It demands significant changes in daily routine.
D. It suits most people with different health conditions.
B 29. D 30. D 31. A
根据第一段中“Currently trendy is intermittent fasting, which involves alternating intervals of extreme calorie reduction with periods of normal eating. (目前流行的是间歇性禁食,即在极端减食与正常进食之间交替进行。)”和“one popular pattern is the “5:2 diet”: eat normally for five days a week, but restrict intake to just 500 — 600 calories on the other two days (一种流行的方法是“5:2饮食法”:每周五天正常进食,另外两天则限制摄入量在500至600卡路里之间)”可知,间歇性禁食的运作是通过在特定的日子里限制卡路里摄入。
根据第二段中“In a 2017 study, the fasters performed no better than conventional calorie cutters, and the dropout rate among the fasting group was a striking 38% — a real-life reflection of the difficulty. (在2017年的一项研究中,禁食者的表现与常规减脂者无异,而禁食组的退出率高达38%,这真实反映了其实施过程中的巨大困难。)”可知,该研究发现,相比传统节食间歇性禁食没有提供额外的好处。
【30题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“However, there is no strong evidence that fasting adds health benefits beyond any other weight-loss strategy, nor has it been proved sustainable in the long term. (然而,没有强有力的证据表明禁食比任何其他减肥策略能带来更多的健康益处,也没有证据表明它能长期持续。)”可知,目前无法确定间歇性禁食有更多益处,或具有可持续性,表明作者对其益处持怀疑态度。
【31题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“And, as Dr. Hu warns, Americans live in a toxic, unhealthy food environment — so you will need a strong social support network to endure very low-calorie days over the long term. (而且,正如胡博士所警告的,美国人生活在一个有毒且不健康的饮食环境中——因此,你必须拥有强大的社会支持网络,才能长期坚持极低热量饮食。)”可知,间歇性禁食需要社会支持才能保持可持续性。

From the digital revival of cultural heritage to the global popularity of Chinese-inspired creative works, digital technology is opening new pathways for artistic exchange across borders. At the ongoing Global Dialogue on Art and Technology forum, which opened Tuesday in Beijing, experts noted that the integration of art and technology has evolved into a cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary global practice, reshaping how cultures connect, communicate and co-create in the digital age.
Fan Di’an, chairman of the China Artists Association, noted that growing attention is now being paid to how artificial intelligence is reshaping the deeper logic of art and the structure of culture. “AI-driven art has shifted from a purely technical issue to a cultural proposal, and from a tool at the operational level to a methodology that informs artistic creation,” he said.
In recent years, China has actively explored new forms of art-tech integration, with a range of cultural products and digital projects gaining international visibility. The interactive digital platform Digital Library Cave allows audiences around the world to appreciate the treasures of ancient murals (壁画). “Black Myth: Wukong,” a game inspired by classical Chinese mythology, has earned international acclaim, while the animated film “Nezha” has boosted the global reach of Chinese culture.
Helena Hyvönen, a Finnish professor at the China Academy of Art who has lived in China for about a decade, said she has witnessed the country’s significant progress in multiple fields. She added that China should continue to develop distinctive approaches rooted in its own cultural strengths while ensuring they resonate (共鸣) with Western audiences.
From a communication perspective, Gao Weihua, a professor at the Communication University of China, said that despite cultural differences, emotionally engaging stories, vivid characters and strong visual narratives can still resonate with global audiences, highlighting the value of integrating art and technology in promoting mutual understanding among civilizations. “Cultural creation should go beyond the simple assembly of symbolic elements and instead delve into the deeper essence of traditional culture, ensuring that technology serves cultural expression,” she added.
32. What can be inferred from Fan Di’an’s words?
A. AI has deep influence on art and culture.
B. AI has its limitations as a tool for creation.
C. AI has dominated the total cultural structure.
D. AI has replaced traditional artistic techniques.
33. What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A. The history of digital art in China.
B. China’s art-tech integration in practice.
C. The future of China’s art-tech industry.
D. China’s significant breakthrough in art skills.
34. What opinion do the two professors share according to paragraphs 4-5?
A. Technology innovation plays a key role in art.
B. Cultural differences stimulate cultural expansion.
C. Artistic creation should aim for global exchanges.
D. Cultural features should be explored for global spread.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Foreigners Hold New Perspectives on Chinese Art
B. AI Technology Reshapes the Future of Art Creation
C. Art-tech Integration Boosts Cross-cultural Exchange
D. Complicated Artistic Techniques Create A Great Myth
A 33. B 34. D 35. C

Renewable energy sources are abundant, regenerated by nature, and emit little to no greenhouse gases. Yet fossil fuels still account for nearly 60% of electricity generation. ____36____ Between 2015 and 2024, renewable electricity capacity jumped by 140%, while fossil fuel capacity grew only 16%. So why is there still an urgent need to accelerate the renewable energy transition?
Renewables are all around us. About 80% of the global population lives in countries that are net-importers of fossil fuels. ____37____ The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) estimates that 90 percent of the world’s electricity can and should come from renewable energy by 2050.
Renewable energy creates jobs. ____38____ For every dollar invested, renewables create three times as many jobs as fossil fuels. The IEA estimates that the transition towards net-zero emissions will lead to an overall increase in energy sector jobs: while about 5 million jobs in fossil fuel production could be lost by 2030, an estimated 14 million new jobs would be created in clean energy.
____39____ In 2024, $2 trillion (万亿) went into clean energy — $800 billion more than fossil fuels and up almost 70 per cent in ten years. Furthermore, energy-related carbon dioxide emissions are growing more slowly than the global economy. ____40____ However, investments in renewables will finally pay off.
A. Renewable energy makes economic sense.
B. The good news is that cleaner sources are gaining ground.
C. Clean energy sector jobs already outnumber fossil fuel jobs.
D. In contrast, renewable energy sources are available in all countries.
E. The initial cost can be overwhelming for countries with limited resources.
F. This means that more than 30 million jobs could be created in clean energy.
G. Emissions growth slowed while the global economy expanded by 3 percent.
B 37. D 38. C 39. A 40. E
上文“Renewable energy sources are abundant, regenerated by nature, and emit little to no greenhouse gases. Yet fossil fuels still account for nearly 60% of electricity generation. (可再生能源资源丰富,由自然再生,且几乎不排放或极少排放温室气体。然而,化石燃料仍占电力生产总量的近60%。)”提出化石能源占比高的现状,下文“Between 2015 and 2024, renewable electricity capacity jumped by 140%, while fossil fuel capacity grew only 16%. (2015年至2024年间,可再生电力装机容量增长了140%,而化石燃料发电装机容量仅增长了16%。)”用数据说明可再生能源的快速增长,空处需承上启下,引出清洁能源发展的积极趋势。因此B项“The good news is that cleaner sources are gaining ground. (好消息是,清洁能源正逐步占据上风。)”符合语境,既承接上文的转折逻辑,又引出下文的增长数据。
【37题详解】
上文“About 80% of the global population lives in countries that are net-importers of fossil fuels. (全球约80%的人口居住在化石燃料净进口国。)”说明化石能源分布不均、依赖进口的局限,下文“The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) estimates that 90 percent of the world’s electricity can and should come from renewable energy by 2050. (国际可再生能源机构(IRENA)估计,到2050年,全球90%的电力可以且应当来自可再生能源。)”展望可再生能源的发展前景,空处需对比二者的分布差异。因此D项“In contrast, renewable energy sources are available in all countries. (相比之下,可再生能源在所有国家都可获取。)”符合语境,承接上文化石能源的分布劣势,点明可再生能源的普适性,为下文的发展前景做铺垫。
【38题详解】
本段主旨句是“Renewable energy creates jobs. (可再生能源创造就业机会。)”,下文“For every dollar invested, renewables create three times as many jobs as fossil fuels. (每投资一美元,可再生能源创造的就业岗位是化石燃料的三倍。)”用投入产出数据佐证可再生能源的优势,空处需衔接主题与数据,说明就业岗位的现状。因此C项“Clean energy sector jobs already outnumber fossil fuel jobs. (清洁能源领域的岗位数量已超过化石燃料领域。)”符合语境,承接创造就业的主题,下文的效率数据为其提供支撑。
【39题详解】
下文“In 2024, $2 trillion (万亿) went into clean energy — $800 billion more than fossil fuels and up almost 70 per cent in ten years. Furthermore, energy-related carbon dioxide emissions are growing more slowly than the global economy. (2024年,全球投入清洁能源的资金达到2万亿美元,比化石燃料多出8000亿美元,十年间增长近70%。此外,与能源相关的二氧化碳排放增长速度也低于全球经济增速。)”和下文“However, investments in renewables will finally pay off. (然而,对可再生能源的投资终将获得回报。)”主要围绕可再生能源的投资与经济价值展开,空处为段首主旨句,需概括本段核心。因此A项“Renewable energy makes economic sense. (可再生能源具备经济价值。)”符合语境,能够总领全段,契合下文投资规模与长期回报的内容。
【40题详解】
下文“However, investments in renewables will finally pay off. (然而,对可再生能源的投资终将获得回报。)”含转折,肯定可再生能源具有长期回报,空处应提及发展可再生能源的挑战与难题。因此E项“The initial cost can be overwhelming for countries with limited resources. (对于资源有限的国家而言,初期成本可能高得难以承担。)”符合语境,点明了可再生能源发展的初期成本障碍,与下文投资终将回报形成转折关系。

Yours,
Li Hua
One possible version:
Dear Eliza,
How is it going? I’m writing to share my wonderful experience at the Ancient Chinese Poetry Salon held by our school’s Literature Club last Friday.
I recited my favorite poem, Ode to the Red Cliff by Su Shi. Written in exile, it turns personal frustration into philosophical reflection. Its famous line “The river flows endlessly, yet the moon remains” taught me that hardships are temporary, but inner peace lasts forever. Other participants also shared their poems, deepening my understanding of classical wisdom and showing how ancient poetry still comforts people today.
This was truly amazing. Given your love for Chinese literature, I hope you can join us someday.
Yours,
Li Hua

Jacob Bell was not a man people admired. He had made many mistakes in his life — drugs, theft, even prison time for repeated theft accusations (指控). Although he had turned a new leaf and now worked as a truck driver, the shadows of his past still haunted him. He often wondered if he could ever be seen as someone good.
One sunny Saturday afternoon, Jacob was fishing on Lake Waxahachie in Texas with his friend Craig. The water was calm, and for a moment, Jacob almost forgot the regrets that followed him. Around noon, as they were heading back to the boat ramp, a desperate scream cut through the peaceful air. About 50 yards offshore, a teenage girl was struggling in the water, barely keeping her head above the surface. Her arms were waving wildly, and her cries were growing weaker.
Jacob didn’t hesitate. He sped his boat toward her and found, to his shock, that she was holding the foot of another girl who was already submerged upside down — her body limp and lifeless.
With the swiftness of lightning, he grabbed the unconscious girl’s arms tightly and pulled her onto the boat. Her face, lips, and even her ears were a ghostly blue. Jacob’s CPR training — taken just six months earlier for his truck driving job — kicked in. He began pumping her chest desperately, counting each compression under his breath. After what felt like an age, she coughed up water, but her eyes rolled back. Jacob kept going, whispering wildly, “Don’t let me lose you. Please.” Finally, she took a deep breath and opened her eyes. The girl was alive.
The media soon called Jacob a hero. But inside, he still struggled to believe it. “I’m not a hero,” he told his wife. “I just did what I needed to do.” He was glad to get back to his ordinary life on the road.
注意:
(1) 续写词数应为150左右;
Paragraph 1: Six weeks later, Jacob spotted thick smoke when driving along the familiar highway.

Paragraph 2: When the media called him a “two-time hero” this time, Jacob didn’t object.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
Six weeks later, Jacob spotted thick smoke when driving along the familiar highway. He slowed down and saw a car had turned over, engulfed in rolling flames. Without hesitation, Jacob grabbed a fire extinguisher from his truck and rushed toward the burning vehicle. The flames were spreading fast. Jacob smashed the driver’s side window violently and reached inside. The driver was an elderly man, hanging upside down in his seat belt. Jacob cut the belt, carefully pulled the unconscious man to safety and started performing chest compression until paramedics arrived and took over.
When the media called him a “two-time hero” this time, Jacob didn’t object. In fact, he was ready to share the other side of his story. “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life,” standing in front of the cameras, he admitted his old mistakes openly. “But I never gave up on myself. I was down but not out.” He paused, tears in his eyes. “Someone said I saved more than two people’s lives. I get it. I also saved myself.” When the crowd applauded, Jacob smiled, feeling the shadow of his past finally melt away. That day, Jacob taught everyone that no matter how far you have fallen, you can always find the courage to start again.
