话题:哈佛大学为新生提供的艺术项目和学习机会
Harvard undergraduates have the opportunity to study and practice the performing arts through the recently launched Theater, Dance & Media concentration; to benefit from the work of the American Repertory Theater-a worldclass professional company in residence; and to create theater outside of the curriculum through more than a dozen student theatre organizations as well as projects initiated by individual students.
Outside of productions presented by TDM and A.R. T., the majority of the many productions staged each year are produced, directed, designed, acted and run by students with support from the Office for the Arts and a variety of studentled theater groups.
Welcome, Harvard Class of 2026!
The FirstYear Arts Program, produced by the Office for the Arts with the dean of Students Office, covers seven artistic disciplines, consisting of Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Film, Music, Studio Arts, and Theater Design. This year's program takes place between August 1925 and we couldn't be more excited about the lineup.

话题:老龄化背景下“银发经济”
The world's population is aging: by 2025,people aged 60 or above will represent 20 percent of the global population. The gains in socioeconomic development mean that many people are reaching old age healthier, wealthier and better educated than previous generations.
With significant purchasing power and specific needs, older people in developed and emerging economies are seen as the fastest growing consumer group in the world, offering opportunities for business growth for many major industries. The market for products and services aimed at people aged over 50-known as the “silver economy”-is currently estimated to be worth $15 trillion globally and is expected to rise exponentially (以指数方式) as the number of older people continues to grow.
Importantly, the “silver economy” can contribute to a country's social development alongside the economic gains because when businesses set out to boost their profits by designing solutions to the challenges faced by older people, they can also create social value by improving the quality of life of people as they age.
China has the largest number of older people in the world with 216.8 million of its population aged 65 or above, and that number is set to increase to 400 million by 2050. As a result,China's “silver economy” is projected to triple in value, from $750 billion in 2020 to $2.1 trillion by 2030,and could reach a value of $4.2 trillion, accounting for 10 percent of China's GDP by 2035.
The recently published “Opinions on Developing the Silver Economy and Improving the Wellbeing of Older Person” is China's first specific policy guideline for the development of China's “silver economy”,and China's experience over the next decade can offer important insights for emerging economies into how best to meet the needs of an aging population while also maximizing the economic development opportunities from such a dramatic shift.

话题:麦肯锡全球研究院的一份报告
Recent developments in robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning have brought us in the eye of the storm of a new automation age. About half of the work carried out by people was likely to be automated by 2055 with adaption to technology, a McKinsey Global Institute report predicted.
Automation can enable businesses to improve performance by reducing errors and improving quality and speed, and in some cases achieving outcomes that go beyond human capabilities. At a time of weak productivity growth worldwide, automation technologies can provide the muchneeded promotion of economic growth, according to the report. Automation could raise productivity growth globally by 0.8 percent to 1.4 percent. At a global level, technically automated activities involved 1.1 billion employees and 11.9 trillion U.S. dollars in wages, the report said.
The report also showed that activities most influenced by automation were physical ones in highly structured and predictable environments, as well as data collection and processing. In the United States, these activities make up 51 percent of activities in the economy, accounting for almost 2.7 trillion dollars in wages. They are most common in production, accommodation and food service, and the retail (零售) trade. And it's not just lowskill, lowwage work that is likely to be influenced by automation; middleskill and highpaying, highskill occupations, too, have a degree of automation potential.
The robots and computers not only can perform a range of routine physical work activities better and more cheaply than humans, but are also increasingly capable of accomplishing activities that require cognitive (认知的) capabilities, such as feeling emotions or driving.
While much of the current debate about automation has focused on the potential that many people may be replaced and therefore lose their financial resources, the analysis shows that humans will still be needed: The total productivity gains will only come about if people work alongside machines.

话题:励志改变生活
On James Owen's 70th birthday, he saw a video of himself walking slowly to the podium (讲台) where he was giving a talk, his feet hardly off the ground. “I looked like an old man,” said Owen, who built a successful career on Wall Street. Even worse, he felt like an old man.
He was about 25 pounds overweight and he had chronic trouble with his back, knees, and shoulders. But instead of giving in to age,Owen decided to set an ambitious fiveyear goal:He wanted to be painfree, and he decided the way to get there was through exercise-even though at the time he couldn't do a single pushup.
Owen began his new exercise plan by walking, though he started huffing and puffing after five minutes. But that didn't discourage him. He kept at the walks every day, along with some stretching.Once he had those basics down, he started weight lifting and hired a personal trainer to teach him and design a routine he could follow on his own. The last piece was finding other activities he enjoyed, which turned out to be cycling and swimming.
In less than five years,Owen was able to do three sets of 50 pushups each and walk for miles each day. And yes, he was free of aches and pains. “Aging well is only about 20 to 25 percent genes, and the rest is lifestyle,” he says.
Owen used his experience to write a book called Just Move! A New Approach to Fitness. After 50,in which he details how older adults can safely get off the couch and add more movement to their lives. “Think of it as movement, not exercise, just get started,” he says. “The key is slow and steady progress.”
Now 81 and retired Owen exercises an hour a day, six days a week. “It is the best investment I've ever made in my life,” he says.

话题:“无痛早起”的4条指南
Everyone knows that early to bed and early to rise is good for your health. Having maintained adequate sleep, people can keep themselves refreshed and dynamic. __1__ Here are some steps to take to become a morning person on a freezing day.
Seek out as much natural light as possible. ___2__ When you wake up, go outside for a relaxed walk around the block, or sit out back while you have a cup of coffee. To avoid being in a sleep state all along, you'd better rethink the blackout curtains you might use to make a very dark sleeping environment.
__3__ If you fly straight into getting up at your desired time every day, you'll feel tired during the transition within a few weeks. For some people, those first few days of exhaustion from switching to a new schedule aren't safe and hard to bear. In that case, gradually ease into the earlybird life. They are supposed to shift half an hour, wait a few days, shift another half an hour, wait a few days, and then shift another half an hour. __4__
Destress and relax in the evenings. A consistent bedtime isn't as crucial as sticking to the same wake up time every day, but it's still important to make sure you're getting enough sleep. __5__ So you'll probably need to inch your bedtime forward as you transition to a new schedule. Start at least an hour before you hit the bed and cut back on stuff related to daily life.
With all these tips, you're not dreading it if you think of getting up early on a chilly winter.
A.Cultivate the habit gradually.
B.That's a little easier for people to tolerate.
C.The sun is the driver of our internal clock.
D.Get rid of the previous sleep patterns instantly.
E.Therefore, developing a healthy sleeping habit is of great significance.
F.Without sufficient hours of sleep, the mind and body can't properly recharge.
G.However, it usually takes a lot of willpower to get out of bed early on a winter's day.
