Dear Peter,
I am glad to know that you’re interested in the Dragon Boat Festival in China. I’d like to tell you what we usually do on that day.
My family and I always make zongzi together. My grandma is really good at it. We also hang mugwort by the door. In the afternoon, we watch dragon boat races. The teams row fast and it’s so exciting.
I love this festival. It makes me feel relaxed and close to my family. And it helps me remember Qu Yuan, a great poet.
Best wishes,

The other day, we had an exciting school trip. We went to a history museum.
First, we visited the old-fashioned rooms. The guide showed us how people lived in the past. Then, we saw many ancient things like old tools and paintings. We learned a lot about our city’s history.
I felt very excited. This trip made me love history more and want to learn about the past. It was a great way to study outside the classroom.

thinking much clearer.
However,a new study from Neuroscience of Consciousness shows that dreaming plays an active role in
solving (problems, especially during REM sleep-when our eyes move really fast and we have most of our
dreams

soft music. They invited 20 students to solve the puzzles while listening to the matching music. Each student needed
to solve all the puzzles, and they had only three minutes for each one,so most of the puzzles stayed unsolved in the
end.
After that, these students went to sleep in a quiet lab while scientists carefully recorded their brain activities
with special equipment. Before falling asleep, all students were told that if they dreamed about any unsolved puzzle,
they should keep thinking and working on it in their mind. When they were in REM sleep, scientists played the
music for half of the unsolved puzzles, with no music played for the other half for comparison ()
The next morning, the 20 students shared their real dream experiences.About 75%of them reported that they
dreamed about the unsolved puzzles.Among them,60%said the puzzles with the matching music showed up more
often in their dreams than the others without music.
All puzzles were more likely to be solved after one night's sleep. But surprisingly, the ones that showed up in
dreams were 42%more likely to be solved, while the others improved (by only 1790.
This study shows that dreaming about a problem lets the brain reorganize (information, and may
develop insight. It gives us sudden new ideas and makes the problem easier to work out.So next time when you
meet a difficult problem in study,do not just sleep on it.Think carefully before bed.Your brain may keep working
during dreams, helping you find the answer.

B.Over half of the students dreamed about the unsolved puzzles.
C.Music-free puzzles showed up in even more students'dreams.
D.Scientists played music for most unsolved puzzles in REM sleep.
32.The word"insight"in Paragraph 7 probably means

Shanghai.People enjoy reading at their doorsteps and it brings great help to them.
The moving library is a yellow tricycle with a pink bookcase. The bright color catches people's eyes easily.
On the big bookcase, there are lots of different kinds of books, such as storybooks, picture books and science books.
Every weekend, the moving library slowly goes around every corner of the neighbourhood.People can not only give
away their old books but also sit down to read books quietly in their free time.
The neighbourhood workers decide to build the moving library because people are often too busy with work
or study to go to libraries far away and read books in their daily life. They hope people can slow down their lives and
enjoy reading more, instead of spending lots of free time playing with their phones all day
To start the meaningful moving library project, the neighbourhood workers invited eight friendly families in
the neighbourhood to work together as a team. They had a small meeting first and then did lots of work. They
carefully designed the style of the mini library, fixed the old tricycle, painted the bookcase with lovely colors, and
chose good and right books for kids and adults.Parents and children of these families worked together happily
during the project. They talked and helped each other,so they knew each other much better than before.
Now the moving library has hundreds of books. Many people in other communities give away books to the
moving library and come to read."I really enjoy reading here.I often bring my sister with me,"a child said.
However,it is just a tricycle,so there are only a few small seats. When many people come, some have to stand
or leave. Also,it works outside and stops running on rainy days.
The moving library is a place to read, learn and relax. Many people like it very much and they say that the
moving library brings parents and children closer, and makes the neighbourhood a warmer place.
34.Where is the moving library?
35.What is the moving library like?
36.Why do the neighbourhood workers decide to build the moving library?

Connect with Water
March 22 is World Water Day. It tells us that water is important for people and our Earth. But do you know it also keeps our mind healthy?
Water can connect our senses(感官)
When we play in water or walk by a river, water connects our senses. At the beach, we can see the waves, hear them crashing (拍打), smell the salty air, and feel the cool water on our feet. Being near water makes us feel peaceful. Scientists call this blue space. It can be the sea, lakes, rivers, or anywhere with water. Scientists think blue spaces help us relax.
How is it good for us?
Researcher Kate Campbell says water can relax our body and clear (清理) our busy minds. Just looking at water helps us pay attention. It can slow our heart and calm our thoughts. And the sound of rushing water helps some people sleep. Studies show people feel happier living near the sea, and sea air is good for our health. Also, water makes us more creative (有创造力的). That’s why we often get good ideas when taking a bath.
Connect with water
We don’t need to live by the sea to connect with water. A warm bath is great, or just feel the rain. If you don’t like getting wet, sit by the window and watch raindrops (雨滴) race down the glass! At the beach, look at the huge sea. It can help us forget our worries. We may realize how small we are, and our problems aren’t that big after all.
27.What does “blue space” in Paragraph 2 refer to (指代)?
A.The blue sky above the sea.
B.The deep water in a swimming pool.
C.A place near water making us peaceful.
D.A safe house to protect people from rain.
28.How can water help our mind according to the passage?
A.It brings us new ideas.

D.It stops us from thinking about anything.
29.What is the writer’s main purpose (目的) in writing this passage?

D
Many people think it helps to “sleep on it” when facing a difficult problem. They choose to leave it until the next day to carefully think over what to do next. After all, a good night’s rest can relax our mind and make our thinking much clearer.
However, a new study from Neuroscience of Consciousness shows that dreaming plays an active role in solving (解决) problems, especially during REM sleep — when our eyes move really fast and we have most of our dreams.
In the study, scientists prepared some difficult puzzles (谜题) and matched each puzzle with a special piece of soft music. They invited 20 students to solve the puzzles while listening to the matching music. Each student needed to solve all the puzzles, and they had only three minutes for each one, so most of the puzzles stayed unsolved in the end.
After that, these students went to sleep in a quiet lab while scientists carefully recorded their brain activities with special equipment. Before falling asleep, all students were told that if they dreamed about any unsolved puzzle, they should keep thinking and working on it in their mind. When they were in REM sleep, scientists played the music for half of the unsolved puzzles, with no music played for the other half for comparison (对比).
The next morning, the 20 students shared their real dream experiences. About 75% of them reported that they dreamed about the unsolved puzzles. Among them, 60% said the puzzles with the matching music showed up more often in their dreams than the others without music.
All puzzles were more likely to be solved after one night’s sleep. But surprisingly, the ones that showed up in dreams were 42% more likely to be solved, while the others improved (提升) by only 17%.
This study shows that dreaming about a problem lets the brain reorganize (重构) information, and may develop insight. It gives us sudden new ideas and makes the problem easier to work out. So next time when you meet a difficult problem in study, do not just sleep on it. Think carefully before bed. Your brain may keep working during dreams, helping you find the answer.
30.Why were many puzzles not solved before the students went to sleep?
A.They had quite little time for each puzzle. B.They knew the puzzles would show up later.
C.The special puzzles were boring to work out. D.The matching music made them feel relaxed.
31.What can we learn about the study?
A.Students finished musical puzzles better during the day.
B.Over half of the students dreamed about the unsolved puzzles.
C.Music-free puzzles showed up in even more students’ dreams.
D.Scientists played music for most unsolved puzzles in REM sleep.
32.The word “insight” in Paragraph 7 probably means ________.
A.a good way to manage dreams B.a new skill to improve learning
C.a large collection of information D.a clear understanding of a problem
33.What is the writer’s purpose in writing the passage?
A.To guide students to get enough sleep every day.
B.To share sleep habits for clear minds with students.
C.To introduce ways to have better dreams to students.
D.To encourage students to think deeply before sleeping.
【答案】30.A 31.B 32.D 33.D
【导语】本文介绍一项科学研究,说明做梦尤其是快速眼动睡眠阶段的梦境能帮助大脑重构信息、解决难题,并建议睡前认真思考待解决问题。
【详解】30.原文第三段提到“Each student needed to solve all the puzzles, and they had only three minutes for each one, so most of the puzzles stayed unsolved in the end.”,说明了学生每道谜题只有很短的时间,因此睡前很多谜题没能解开。
31.原文第五段提到“About 75% of them reported that they dreamed about the unsolved puzzles.”,75%超过一半,说明了超过半数学生梦到了未解开的谜题。
32.原文第七段提到“This study shows that dreaming about a problem lets the brain reorganize (重构) information, and may develop insight. It gives us sudden new ideas and makes the problem easier to work out.”,后文解释它能带来新思路、方便解开难题,说明了insight指对问题清晰的理解。
33.原文第七段提到“So next time when you meet a difficult problem in study, do not just sleep on it. Think carefully before bed.”,说明了作者写作目的是鼓励学生睡前深入思考难题。

四、阅读表达 (第34-36题每题2分, 第37题4分, 共10分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
There is a moving library in the neighbourhood in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. People enjoy reading at their doorsteps and it brings great help to them.
The moving library is a yellow tricycle with a pink bookcase. The bright color catches people’s eyes easily. On the big bookcase, there are lots of different kinds of books, such as storybooks, picture books and science books. Every weekend, the moving library slowly goes around every corner of the neighbourhood. People can not only give away their old books but also sit down to read books quietly in their free time.
The neighbourhood workers decide to build the moving library because people are often too busy with work or study to go to libraries far away and read books in their daily life. They hope people can slow down their lives and enjoy reading more, instead of spending lots of free time playing with their phones all day.
To start the meaningful moving library project, the neighbourhood workers invited eight friendly families in the neighbourhood to work together as a team. They had a small meeting first and then did lots of work. They carefully designed the style of the mini library, fixed the old tricycle, painted the bookcase with lovely colors, and chose good and right books for kids and adults. Parents and children of these families worked together happily during the project. They talked and helped each other, so they knew each other much better than before.
Now the moving library has hundreds of books. Many people in other communities give away books to the moving library and come to read. “I really enjoy reading here. I often bring my sister with me,” a child said.
However, it is just a tricycle, so there are only a few small seats. When many people come, some have to stand or leave. Also, it works outside and stops running on rainy days.
The moving library is a place to read, learn and relax. Many people like it very much and they say that the moving library brings parents and children closer, and makes the neighbourhood a warmer place.

B.It makes our heart beat faster.
C.It makes us feel busy and excited.
D.It stops us from thinking about anything.
29.What is the writer’s main purpose (目的) in writing this passage?
A.To introduce some fun water sports.
B.To teach some ways to save water in life.
C.To ask people to celebrate World Water Day.
D.To show water is good for our body and mind.

34.Where is the moving library?
35.What is the moving library like?
36.Why do the neighbourhood workers decide to build the moving library?
37.If there is a moving library in your neighbourhood, would you like to read there? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons.)
