When our teacher asked us to keep a one-week energy diary, I thought it would be easy. I only needed to write down when I turned off lights or used water. However, the first day changed my mind. After dinner, I found the television was on, but nobody was watching it. My computer was also on standby. I wrote these two things in my diary and felt a little ashamed.
The next morning, I decided to make a small plan. Before leaving home, I checked the lights, the tap and the computer. At school, I used both sides of my notebook paper. During lunch, I refused a plastic bag and carried my bread in a small box. These actions were not difficult, but I had to remind myself many times.
On Thursday, my younger sister laughed at my diary. She said one student could not save the earth. I did not argue with her. Instead, I showed her my notes: five lights turned off, three plastic bags refused, and ten pieces of paper saved. She was quiet for a moment and then helped me put old newspapers together for recycling.
At the end of the week, our class shared the diaries. I learned that small actions became powerful when they were counted and continued. The diary did not make me perfect, but it made me notice waste. From then on, saving energy was no longer a slogan on the wall. It became a habit in my hands.

A.He forgot to finish his homework. B.He noticed energy was being wasted at home.

A.He bought a new computer. B.He planted trees near the classroom.
C.He used both sides of notebook paper. D.He watched a programme about energy.
51.What made the writer's sister change her attitude?
A.The teacher asked her to keep a diary. B.She saw the counted results of small actions.
C.She found a slogan on the classroom wall. D.The writer argued with her for a long time.
52.What does the writer mainly learn from the diary?
A.Energy saving should become a lasting habit. B.One student must do every difficult task alone.
C.A diary is useful only when parents read it. D.Slogans are enough to stop all waste.

C
Many people know Saihanba as a green miracle, but few young visitors can imagine its early days. More than sixty years ago, it was a cold and windy place. After trees were cut down, sand often moved south and influenced nearby areas. In 1962, a group of foresters arrived there with simple tools, young trees and a strong belief that people could repair the land.
Their first years were extremely hard. The winter was long, water was difficult to find, and many young trees died in the dry wind. Some workers had to walk several kilometres just to carry water for the seedlings. When one planting plan failed, they did not leave. They studied the soil, changed the planting time and protected the small trees with grass and wooden boards.
One old forester later told a reporter that planting trees was also planting hope. He remembered a morning when he saw the first line of young trees standing after a storm. They were short and weak, but they were alive. That scene encouraged the workers more than any speech. Year after year, more people joined them, including their children and students who came for practice.
Today, Saihanba has become a large forest and a famous scenic area. It helps reduce sandstorms, preserve water and provide homes for wildlife. The word “miracle” does not mean the forest appeared suddenly. It means generations of people kept doing the right thing when the result was still far away. For students, the story of Saihanba is not only about trees. It is about courage, patience and responsibility for the earth.
53.What problem did Saihanba face before the foresters arrived?
A.It had too many tourists every day. B.It suffered from wind and moving sand.
C.It had no workers who knew science. D.It was covered with a large green forest.
54.How did the workers respond when the first planting plan failed?
A.They changed methods and continued planting. B.They stopped working and left the place.
C.They waited for visitors to solve the problem. D.They cut down the remaining young trees.
55.What does the underlined word “seedlings” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Young trees B.Old tools
C.Strong winds D.Wooden houses
56.What can students learn from the story of Saihanba?
A.Nature can recover without human care. B.Fast success is more important than patient work.
C.Long-term responsibility can create real change. D.Scenic areas should only be used for travelling.
【答案】53.B 54.A 55.A 56.C
D
Many people want to protect the earth, but they often begin with actions that are too large to continue. A better way is to build green habits through small repeated choices. A habit is powerful because it reduces the need for new decisions. When turning off the light becomes as natural as closing the door, saving energy no longer feels like extra work.
Green habits usually follow three steps. First, there is a clear cue, such as seeing an empty classroom. Second, there is an easy action, such as turning off the lights and fans. Third, there is a small reward, such as feeling that the room is safe and energy is saved. If the action is simple and the reward is clear, the habit is more likely to stay.
Environmentally friendly design can also help. A recycling bin placed beside a printer reminds students to reuse paper. A sign near the tap makes people notice running water. These designs do not force people, but they make the better choice easier. In this way, the environment around us silently shapes our behaviour.
However, habits should not become empty performances. Taking a cloth bag once for a photo is different from using it every week. Real green living needs honest records and steady practice. Families and schools can count saved paper, reduced plastic bags or lights turned off, not to show off, but to see progress. The best green habit is one that people can understand, repeat and improve.
57.According to Paragraph 1, why are habits powerful?
A.They make repeated green choices easier. B.They require people to make harder decisions.
C.They replace every environmental rule. D.They work only when actions are large.
58.What can we infer from Paragraph 3?
A.Signs near taps make people waste more water. B.A printer should be removed from every classroom.
C.Students recycle paper only when teachers watch them. D.Good design can guide people without forcing them.
59.What does the underlined word “cue” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.A prize for finishing a task. B.A signal that starts an action.
C.A rule that stops a habit. D.A mistake in a classroom.
60.Which is the best title for the text?
A.Why Green Habits Matter B.How to Build a Larger School
C.When to Stop Saving Energy D.Where to Buy Cloth Bags
【答案】57.A 58.D 59.B 60.A
