第四节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
短文词形变换填空
Disaster preparation should not begin after danger has already arrived. Last month, our class designed a survival guide for families. We first listed common natural disasters, including typhoons, floods and earthquakes. Then we discussed what people ____41____ (should) do before, during and after each disaster. For example, before a typhoon, families need to buy bottled water, check flashlights and move flowerpots away from balconies. During an earthquake, people must stay calm and take shelter under stable objects.
To make the guide easy to use, we added pictures and word-building notes. The word “flowerpot” helped us understand compound words, while “powerless” and “preparation” showed how prefixes and suffixes change meanings. Our teacher also reminded us that a guide is useful only when it ____42____ (write) clearly. So we used short imperative sentences, such as “Turn off the gas” and “Use the stairs.” We invited two parents to read the draft, and they gave ____43____ (practice) suggestions about medicine lists and emergency phone numbers. After revising it twice, our guide became ____44____ (clear) than the first version. We plan to share it on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day, because careful preparation can help people live ____45____ (safe). We also added a family checklist at the end of the guide. It asks people to store water, remember emergency phone numbers, choose a safe meeting place and help neighbours who may need support. Several classmates took the checklist home and practised it with their parents. This extra practice helped us understand that preparation is not a performance for one school day. It should become a regular habit shared by the whole family.

B
At the beginning of this term, our class set up a “Three-R Corner” beside the school gate. The name came from reduce, reuse and recycle. We did not want it to become another notice board that students passed without reading, so we made it practical. On Monday, students could leave clean paper boxes and glass jars on the reuse shelf. On Wednesday, volunteers showed how an old magazine could be changed into a notebook cover. On Friday, used batteries were collected and sent to a safe recycling site.
The first week was not perfect. Some students put leftovers into the paper box, and a few bottles were thrown into the trash bin randomly. Instead of blaming them, our team interviewed cleaners and students to find out why mistakes happened. Many students said the signs were too small, and the difference between recyclable and harmful waste was not clear. We redesigned the corner with larger pictures and simple examples: “plastic bottles here”, “used batteries there”, and “food waste in the green bin”.
A month later, the corner became a popular place. During the lunch break, volunteers took turns answering questions and recording which signs still confused visitors. A student who used to order takeaways every day began bringing a lunch box. Another group organised a small flea market, where old books and bags gained new value. The project taught us that environmental protection is not far away. It begins when people notice waste, change habits and help others understand what to do. Every small action is of great help when it continues.
49.Why did the class make the “Three-R Corner” practical?
A.They wanted students to use it instead of just passing by. B.They planned to sell expensive products there.
C.They hoped cleaners would stop working. D.They wanted to close the school gate.
50.What problem appeared in the first week?
A.No student saw the corner. B.Some waste was put in the wrong place.
C.The school had no paper boxes. D.All bottles were recycled correctly.
51.How did the team improve the corner?
A.By making the signs smaller. B.By asking students to stop recycling.
C.By adding larger pictures and simple examples. D.By removing all shelves.
52.What does the project mainly show?
A.Takeaways are always necessary at school. B.Old things can never gain new value.
C.Students should avoid interviewing cleaners. D.Environmental protection starts with continued small actions.

Ming Yue used to think that festival customs were fixed stories in old books. This idea changed when her community invited young people to help prepare a Lantern Festival evening. The organiser did not ask them only to hang lanterns. Instead, she asked each student to interview one older neighbour about a festival memory and then turn the memory into a small activity.
Ming Yue interviewed Grandma He, who had moved to the city from a riverside village. Grandma He remembered the Dragon Boat Festival of her childhood. Families prepared zongzi together before sunrise, and children ran to the riverbank to watch dragon boats. She said the race was exciting, but what she missed most was the teamwork: someone washed the leaves, someone prepared sticky rice, and someone tied the strings tightly. “A festival is warm because people do things together,” she told Ming Yue.
Inspired by the interview, Ming Yue designed a “Memory Lantern”. On one side of the lantern, she wrote a riddle about zongzi. On the other side, she pasted a short note about Grandma He’s village. During the evening, visitors solved riddles, read the notes and shared their own family customs. A boy whose parents were busy at work said he had never listened carefully to his grandfather’s festival stories before. After reading the lantern, he decided to ask.
The activity did not simply repeat old customs. It helped people discover why customs mattered. Ming Yue realised that traditions stay alive when young people listen, create and invite others to join. A lantern can light a street, but a shared memory can light up a family.
53.What changed Ming Yue’s idea about festival customs?
A.Watching a cooking show alone. B.Reading a book about city traffic.
C.Buying a new school uniform. D.Helping prepare a Lantern Festival evening.
54.What did Grandma He miss most about the Dragon Boat Festival?
A.The price of food in the market. B.The sound of city buses.
C.The teamwork among family members. D.The chance to avoid all housework.
55.What does the underlined word “Inspired” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Made interested and encouraged B.Made too tired to speak
C.Ordered to leave quickly D.Stopped from remembering
56.What can we learn from the activity?
A.Young people cannot create anything about customs. B.Festival stories should be kept away from children.
C.Lantern riddles are useful only in villages. D.Traditions stay alive through listening and sharing.
D
Natural disasters cannot always be stopped, but the harm they cause can often be reduced. The key is preparation before danger arrives. Many families know they should buy bottled water before a typhoon or hide under stable objects during an earthquake. However, knowledge becomes useful only when it is practised. A survival guide hidden in a drawer may not help if people have never read it together.
Community drills are one practical way to turn words into action. During a fire drill, students learn where to gather and why lifts should not be used. In an earthquake workshop, people practise protecting the head, turning off gas and leaving buildings in order. Such practice may look simple, yet it reduces panic. When a real emergency happens, people who have practised are more likely to remember the right steps.
Technology can also support disaster prevention. Weather apps send warnings, online maps show safer routes, and community groups can share supply information quickly. Still, technology should not replace human responsibility. If a warning is ignored, or if neighbours do not help elderly people understand it, the message loses value. Good preparation combines clear information, useful tools and care for people who may need extra help.
There is another lesson: humans should work with nature, not only fight against it. Dujiangyan is a famous example. By using local geographical features instead of simply blocking water, it helped prevent floods and benefit agriculture for a long time. Today, environmentally friendly development can also reduce risks from floods, droughts and wildfires. Prevention is not a single event. It is a habit of planning, practising and respecting nature.
57.According to Paragraph 1, when does disaster knowledge become useful?
A.When it is written in very long sentences. B.When it is practised before danger arrives.
C.When it is hidden in a drawer. D.When people wait until the last minute.
58.What can we infer from Paragraph 2 about community drills?
A.They help people reduce panic in emergencies. B.They are only for firefighters.
C.They ask students to use lifts quickly. D.They make survival guides unnecessary.
59.What does the underlined word “ignored” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.not paid attention to B.sent very quickly
C.written in large letters D.explained with care
60.Which is the best title for the text?
A.Why People Should Fear All Weather B.How to Stop Every Natural Disaster
C.Preparation, Practice and Respect for Nature D.The History of Mobile Phone Apps

Small Actions for Our Earth
We have only one earth, so everyone should do something to protect it. In my daily life, I try to save energy and reduce waste. I turn off the lights as soon as I leave a room, and I never leave my computer on standby for a long time. When I go shopping, I use a cloth bag instead of a plastic bag. I also sort refuse carefully because some waste can be recycled and gain new value. These actions are small, but they can help reduce pollution and save resources. I believe every small action is of great help. Let’s form environmentally friendly habits and make our home cleaner and greener.
