根据 Alexander Fleming(1881-1955)中“Fleming received the Nobel Prize in 1945 for his important work.(弗莱明于 1945 年因其重要工作而获得诺贝尔奖。)”以及 Tu Youyou(1930 present)中“In 2015, she became the first Chinese scientist to win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, bringing traditional medicine into modern science.(2015 年,她成为首位获得诺贝尔生理学或医学奖的中国科学家,将传统医学带入了现代科学领域。)”
根据 John Snow(1813-1858)中“His work founded modern epidemiology(流行病学)—— the study of how diseases spread —— and led to major improvements in public health systems.(他的工作开创了现代流行病学——即研究疾病传播方式的学科——并促成了公共卫生体系的重大改进。)”
根据第一段第一句“For generations, the people of HavenBrook lived in peace...”(世世代代以来, Havenbrook 的居民过着和平的生活)以及第二段开头“The morning started like any other.”(那天早晨和往常一样)可知,在灾难发生前,居民们一直享受着宁静的生活。A选项与原文“Little did they know that a storm was growing...”
根据第三段中的“The hurricane’ s strong winds tore through the town, cutting roofs into pieces... Huge waves... flooding streets and homes.”以及第四段中的“Many homes were completely destroyed, and lives were lost.”
根据第四段中的“They used boats to travel through the flooded streets and transported people to safety.”(他们乘船穿过被淹的街道,将人们转移到安全地带)可知,紧急救援人员通过船只将部分人转移到了安全的地方。
根据第二段 Reaser 的话“It is a celebration of what unites us at the edges of nature and human nature.”(它是对在自然与人性边缘将我们联合起来的事物的颂扬)可知, Reaser 强调这本书赞美了自然与人类之间的联系。
根据第三段中的“One of our intentions was to make such voices heard, to invite the lesser-known authors onto a stage where they could be better heard.”(我们的意图之一是让这些声音被听到,邀请那些不太知名的作者登上一个能让他们被更好地听到的舞台)可知,出版这本书的目的之一是为了帮助那些不太知名、未受关注的作家获得更多关注。
根据第四段中的“‘To Lament’ allows space to feel sad for species reduction and the deaths of individual birds.”(“To Lament”部分留出了空间,让人们为物种减少和个别鸟类的死亡感到悲伤)可知,表达为物种减少(loss)感到悲伤的内容在“To Lament”部分。
根据最后一段第一句“Profits from the book will support ABC’s Fellowship Program, which supports the next generation of bird protectors...”(这本书的利润将用于支持ABC的奖学金项目,该项目旨在支持下一代鸟类保护者)可知,利润将被用来支持一个针对鸟类保护者的项目。
【D篇】
根据第二段中的“DeepSeek’ s integration(融合) into WeChat brought lots of users to Tencent's Yuanbao, whose DAU (Daily Active Users) jumped20 times in two months.”
Take one village in Hubei as an example
根据最后一段中的“It urgently demands simplified responses, voice control tools and solutions adapted to real-life conditions.”
41. B aware be aware of了解,知道;我清楚地知道家里缺钱,尤其是过节期间,不像朋友能买好看衣服、出国;
afford sth.
amaze sb.
45. B hide后文出现 go on the hunt (寻宝),寻宝的前提是把彩蛋藏起来,因此选 hide。
47. C money后文明确说明 eggs with coins in each (每个彩蛋里都有硬币),本段讲钱币寻宝活动,选 money。

Dear teachers and classmates, It's my great honor to deliver the speech here.
Online learning provides us with plenty of learning materials and allows us to study at our own pace. However, its disadvantages are obvious as well. Some students get distracted by short videos and fail to focus on lessons. Others lack self-discipline and keep putting off tasks. We can follow several useful tips to become wise online learners. First, set a fixed schedule and stick to it. Second, turn off distracting apps while studying. Besides, mark key points and communicate with teachers when confused.
Let us make the most of online resources and study efficiently. Thank you!
Be smart online learners
It's my great honour to deliver a speech on how to become wise online learners.
Although online learning has become an important way of learning to a certain extent, it comes with both strengths and weaknesses. We students can gain access to high-quality online courses that broaden our horizons and boost our interest in study. However, what worries us is that numerous students get addicted to online games.
From my perspective, if we want to be qualified online learners, we ought to not only make a proper study plan, but also pick reliable learning resources. In conclusion, only by learning wisely online can we fully take advantage of modern technology.
That night, I sat at my desk, notebook open and mind racing with details. I decided to design a gentle reminder app especially for the elderly. I listed simple functions: important dates, daily tasks, and warm notes. I focused on making the words big and the buttons easy to touch. Whenever I felt stuck, I pictured Mrs. Thompson's kind smile and her wish for something to aid her memory. I carefully tested every part again and again, making sure it was simple and helpful. Deep down in my heart, I hoped this little app could bring convenience and warmth to her and more elderly people. A week later, I presented my project to Ms. Davis. I explained the app's purpose and showed how it worked. Ms. Davis praised my thoughtful idea and spoke highly of my project. After class, I brought the app to Mrs. Thompson. She was delighted and tried it at once. “This is exactly what I' ve been looking for,” she said cheerfully. Seeing her bright smile, I truly understood what Ms. Davis had meant: coding is more than writing lines of code. It is about using technology to make life easier for others.

Text 10
Good evening, this is Community Focus. Today, we' re looking at a rural courtyard improvement project in Ningbo in eastern China. The program encourages local people to improve their home courtyards by planting flowers, repairing old houses and creating pleasant outdoor spaces. Its goal is to make the area cleaner, greener and more attractive. At first, some residents were unsure about the idea because they were used to their old way of life. But as the environment gradually improved the changes became clear. Visitors began coming to enjoy the peaceful countryside and traditional way of life. Soon, some local families opened small home stays or cafes for tourists. In this way, the program not only made the area more beautiful, but also created new chances for families to earn extra income. Today, more residents are taking part. Many of them now realize that improving the environment while developing tourism, not only protects nature, but also supports the local economy and brings people in the community closer together.

Four Medical Scientists Who Changed the World
Alexander Fleming(1881-1955)
Scottish scientist Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928. After returning from vacation, he noticed that the mold in one of his plates had killed bacteria. This accidental discovery led to the development of antibiotics, which have saved millions of lives since then. During World War II, penicillin was widely used to treat wounded soldiers and became known as a “wonder drug”. Fleming received the Nobel Prize in1945 for his important work.
Louis Pasteur(1822-1895)
This French chemist proved that germs (微生物) cause disease, changing our understanding of illness. He developed vaccines for rabies and anthrax, helping to prevent deadly infections. His pasteurization (加热杀菌法), which kills harmful bacteria in milk and wine by heating them, is still used worldwide today. Pasteur's germ theory laid the foundation for modern microbiology and changed how doctors treat patients.
John Snow(1813-1858)
English doctor Snow helped stop a deadly cholera outbreak in London in 1854.By carefully mapping cases on a street map, he proved that polluted water from a public pump spread the disease, not the popular belief of “bad air”. His work led to the birth of modern epidemiology —— the study of how diseases spread ——— and led to major improvements in public health systems.
Tu Youyou(1930-present)
Inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese scientist Tu Youyou discovered qinghaosu in the 1970s. After testing over 2,000 traditional Chinese medical recipes, she finally found a treatment for malaria by extracting the herb, qinghao, at a low temperature. This discovery has greatly raised survival rates for millions of malaria patients worldwide, especially in Africa. In 2015, she became the first Chinese scientist to win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, bringing traditional medicine into modern science.
21. What do Alexander Fleming and Tu Youyou have in common?
A. Both won the Nobel Prize for their work.
B. Both discovered antibiotics by accident.
C. Both worked mainly during World War II.
D. Both studied traditional Chinese medicine.
22. What can be inferred from the text?
A. Tu Youyou's research was inspired by Louis Pasteur's work.
B. John Snow's method helped establish a new field of medical study.
C. Louis Pasteur's theory mainly influenced the treatment of malaria.
D. Alexander Fleming's discovery was based on his planned experiments.
23. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To compare traditional and modern medical approaches.
B. To prove that accidents are important in medical research.
C. To explain how Nobel Prize winners made their discoveries.
D. To show how scientific contributions have improved global health.

For generations, the people of Havenbrook lived in peace, embraced by the beauty of the ocean and the quiet security of their coastal home. However, one terrible day, their peaceful life was turned upside down by a destructive natural disaster.
The morning started like any other. The sun rose, casting its golden rays over the town. People woke up, prepared for their daily routine, and went about their business. Little did they know that a storm was growing far out on the ocean. As the day progressed, the sky began to darken, and the wind started to pick up. By afternoon, Havenbrook was in the control of a powerful hurricane.
The hurricane's strong winds tore through the town, cutting roofs into pieces and overturning trees. Huge waves from the ocean washed into the town, flooding streets and homes. Residents, caught unprepared, hurried to find shelter. Many were trapped in their homes, waiting in terror as the water rose higher and higher. It seemed as if the world were at an end.
The town's emergency services worked tirelessly to rescue those in danger. They used boats to travel through the flooded streets and transported people to safety. However, the storm was so powerful that even their efforts were limited. Many homes were completely destroyed, and lives were lost. The once-lively town was now a scene of ruin.
After the hurricane, Havenbrook's residents began the arduous task of rebuilding their lives. They worked together, sharing their resources and skills, to rebuild their homes and community. Support from outside the town poured in, with volunteers and donations helping to speed up the recovery process. Slowly but surely, Havenbrook began to rise from the ruins.
24. What can be learned about the residents from the first two paragraphs?
A. They sensed the upcoming storm.
B. They often suffered natural disasters.
C. They were not prepared for daily life.
D. They enjoyed a peaceful life before the disaster.
25. What happened when the hurricane hit the town?
A. The residents ignored rescue work.
B. The hurricane arrived with no warning.
C. The residents left their homes instantly
D. The hurricane caused severe damage.
26. What action did the emergency services take during the disaster?
A. They transported some people to safe places.
B They rescued everybody successfully by boat.
C. They delayed their action until the storm ended.
D. They refused to reach the affected areas due to the storm.
27. What is the probable meaning of the underlined word “arduous”?
A. Challenging. B. Effortless.
C. Deadly. D. Limited.

Poetry and nature writings can be powerful ways for people to connect with the natural world. A new poetry collection coming out this month, titled Dawn Songs: A Birdwatcher’s Field Guide to the Poetics of Migration, features reflections on our relationships with birds. The book happened to come out on the 30th anniversary (周年) of International Migratory Bird Day, which was established in 1993 by John Reaser.
“Dawn Songs is more than a book,” said Reaser. “It is a calling together of birds and bird watchers, no matter where they live or who they are. It is a celebration of what unites us at the edges of nature and human nature. It is, in part, Emily Dickinson’s ‘Hope is the thing with feathers.’”
The poetry collection contains works from 60 writers. Some are well-known in their field, while others “have had fewer opportunities to voice their stories,” Reaser said. “One of our intentions was to make such voices heard, to invite the lesser-known authors onto a stage where they could be better heard.”
The book is divided into four sections: “Io Know, ”To Wonder, ”To Lament, “And “To Celebrate.” Each explores the connection between nature and human nature from a different point of view. In“To Know,” poets write about their personal relationships with birds, expressing joy at watching swallows fly or herons hunt. “To Wonder” contains works expressing questions that birds inspire. “To Lament” allows space to feel sad for species reduction and the deaths of individual birds. The poetry collection ends on an exciting note with “To Celebrate,” which contains joyous odes(颂歌) to the gifts birds give us.
Profits from the book will support ABC's Fellowship Program, which supports the next generation of bird protectors through scientific research, community activities, and storytelling. A quiet AI revolution is happening in China's countryside. In provinces like Jilin, Yunnan and Hubei, farmers are turning to AI to save their crops from flooding and disease. China is offering the world a new route for AI development.
Free AI services have gained widespread popularity across China. DeepSeek’ s integration(融合) into WeChat brought lots of users to Tencent’ s Yuanbao, whose DAU (Daily Active Users) jumped 20 times in two months. AI has quickly integrated into people's daily life and serves a huge number of farmers in the countryside.
By making AI tools free and accessible through platforms like WeChat, China has driven wide grassroots application. Chinese companies put user scale first—— and that scale is surprising: nearly 300 million farmers, representing about 20% of the national population, are potential AI users.
This large group of rural users can be clearly seen from real farming cases. Take one village in Hubei as an example, rice fields there were once in danger due to weeks of heavy rain. As a result, farmers turned to Yuanbao. The chatbot recommended building embankments(堤岸) and changing to high-ridge planting(高垄种植)——— the advice arrived instantly, adapted to specific problems and images uploaded by farmers with little formal education.
For Chinese farmers, the benefits of AI services are real and immediate. AI is no longer a futuristic idea but a daily tool in their daily life. However, with the rapid spread of AI in rural areas, many related challenges have appeared. AI researchers found that most farmers didn't know how to put useful questions to AI chatbots unless led by local officials. Educational gaps remain a problem: even when farmers receive answers, they might not understand the technical terms involved. Without a complete cycle of understanding and putting ideas into practice, the benefits of AI can't be fully realized.
Researchers also stress that making AI useful for the farmers as well as the elderly will require more than just stylish interfaces and bigger models. It urgently demands simplified responses, voice control tools and solutions adapted to real-life conditions.
32. What resulted from DeepSeek’ s integration into WeChat?
A. free AI services in China became available.
B. Tencent’ s Yuanbao saw a rapid increase in users.
C. Farmers in Hubei doubled their rice production.
D. WeChat users’ potential improved significantly.
33. What writing skill does the author mainly use in Paragraph 4?
A. Making a comparison B. Giving an example
C. Listing numbers D. Explaining cause and effect
34. What will the researchers most probably do next?
A. Develop larger AI models.
B. Spread AI access to more cities.
C. Provide simple and practical instructions.
D. Teach farmers to understand technical terms.
35. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. AI companies profit greatly from rural users.
B. AI has solved all farming problems in China.
C. Farmers prefer traditional methods to AI technology.
D. China's rural AI holds promise but faces challenges.

Duanwu is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals. The date of the festival is said to be the date when Qu Yuan died --- the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It doesn't follow the solar calendar we usually use.36.
According to traditional Chinese folk customs, the fifth lunar month is also called the" poisonous" month when many evil spirits and poisonous creatures appear.37. Some people believe insects and pests are active during this summer month, which can bring infectious diseases to both humans and animals. This becomes the reason why people put calamus (菖蒲) on doors or windows to drive harmful insects from a house.
38. Fresh wormwood (艾草) is picked and put in the house, while the dried herb is often put into sachets (香囊) and worn during the festival. The herb, due to its medical functions, is not only a perfect choice for Duanwu, but also a daily necessity to many Chinese people.
39. People can use them during the Duanwu Festival, or the whole year to stay healthy. Wormwood can effectively drive mosquitoes and insects away in your house. Incense(香) is often made from wormwood that has been dried for at least three years. 40. Apart from this, there are some others deserving our favor. Soap made from wormwood is a reasonable choice, which can leave a natural scent on your body. Wormwood toothpaste and shampoo are good for your teeth and hair too, as the herb-based products can protect you in a safer and more natural way.
A. People hold different opinions.
B. This idea comes from ancient beliefs.
C. Therefore, the date is different from year to year.
D. There are some healthy products made from wormwood.

My name is Mae. I' ve always been passionate about exploring and solving problems —— whether fixing a broken toy or figuring out how a phone app works. This led me to join our school's Coding(编程) Club. In our first lesson, Ms. Davis told us that coding is more than writing lines of code. It is about using technology to make life easier for others.
“Your project,” she announced in class one day, “is to create a simple app that solves a real-life problem. ”You have one week to prepare,” she added gently, hoping this would give us enough time to find inspiration and finish the project.
The challenge stayed with me as I walked to my neighbor Mrs. Thompson's apartment after school. She had invited me for tea, as she often did on Tuesdays. Mrs.Thompson was kind and cheerful, but lately she had been a little forgetful, often misplacing her keys or repeating the same story twice without realizing it. When I arrived, she was in the kitchen.
“Mae! Good timing,” she greeted me warmly, and then stopped, glancing at the kettle. “Did I already boil water for tea?”
I checked the kettle——— it was still warm. We laughed about it as I poured water, and soon we were chatting. Our conversation turned to her weekly book club with friends. Mrs. Thompson smiled, talking about her two old friends. Mr. Brown arrived late for the game, and Mrs. Smith failed to bring her glasses twice. “We’ re quite a group,” she said.
Then her expression grew thoughtful. “We manage, of course. But sometimes I think wouldn't it be nice if something simply reminds us? Take medicine. Water the plants. Friday for book club.” She tapped her head with a soft laugh.
Her words sank in (被充分意识到). At that moment, an idea formed in my mind. As I stood up to leave, I smiled mysteriously, “Give me a few days, and I’ ll bring you a little surprise.”
“Oh? I' ll try not to forget that,” she laughed.

That night, I sat at my desk, notebook open and mind racing with details.
A week later, I presented my project to Ms. Davis.
