The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month. It has been celebrated for over 2,000 years.
The festival is best known for its dragon boat races. Teams of rowers paddle long, narrow boats decorated like dragons. The races are held to honor Qu Yuan, a famous poet who lived during the Warring States period. When Qu Yuan drowned himself in the Miluo River, local people rowed boats and threw rice into the river to keep fish away from his body.
Today, people celebrate the festival by eating zongzi — sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. Different regions have their own styles of zongzi. In northern China, people prefer sweet zongzi with red bean paste, while in the south, savory zongzi with meat and salted egg yolk are more popular.
In 2009, the Dragon Boat Festival became the first Chinese festival to be added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage. It has also become popular in other Asian countries, including Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam.

六、阅读理解
The Lantern Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month, marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations. For centuries, it has been a time of joy and togetherness for Chinese families.
One of the most important activities during the festival is viewing lanterns. In ancient times, emperors would order grand lantern displays in the capital city. People would gather in the streets, carrying lanterns of all shapes and sizes. Some were shaped like animals, flowers, or even characters from famous stories. Today, cities across China hold large lantern fairs that attract millions of visitors.
Another popular custom is eating tangyuan, which are sweet rice balls filled with sesame, peanut, or red bean paste. These round balls symbolize family reunion and completeness. Families often make tangyuan together, sharing stories and laughter as they roll the sticky rice dough.
In recent years, the Lantern Festival has taken on new forms. Some cities have added drone light shows alongside traditional lantern displays. Young people share photos of the celebrations on social media, introducing this ancient tradition to a global audience. The festival has also gained popularity in other countries, with Chinese communities abroad organizing lantern parades and cultural performances.
Despite the new ways of celebrating, the spirit of the Lantern Festival remains the same — it is about family, hope, and the joy of looking forward to a bright future together.

Let's Celebrate!
The Mid-Autumn Festival is my favorite traditional holiday. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is full and bright.
On this day, all family members gather for a big dinner. Mooncakes are shared among people, and they symbolize family unity. It is said that Chang'e has lived on the moon since she took the magic medicine, so we admire the moon and tell her story together.
I have spent this festival with my family every year since I was little. I will never regret staying with my beloved family. This festival tells me that reunion is the most precious thing in life.
